Im making this review as an upcoming eighth grade student. This school has it's ups and downs but…read morethat part I really hate about this school is the overly excessive staff or staff that favours certain students over others. (Ms. Mason, Ms. Blanding, Dean Jackson, Counselor Square, Consoler davis,) if your student has any of these teachers or counselors, you may want to ask for a team change. Theyre SO obnoxious and rude. Dean Jackson, Counselors Squre and Davis are supposed to be the "support" of the students but all they do is make situations worser. For example, if someone is getting bullied they would side with the bully if they are "popular." Its so mind blowing. They would praise "bad" students and ignore students who are actually trying to be good in school. Ms mason and Ms. Kireme are just racist. Who tells a black student they love their nappy hair? ( Ms. Mason) and who tells a student to die and that they're stupid and dumb (Ms. Kireme). And guess what? THEYRE NOT FIRED? (Ms blanding is just annoying). Regardless of those horrible staff, the school has a GREAT education system. I really learned alot from teachers like Mr. Rivera, Mr. Toliver, Ms. Fogel, Ms. Lyons, Ms. schober, Ms. Mclean, Ms. Gleason, and Mr. Wilkins. (More good teachers I just never had) You will learn alot if you have teachers that can actually TEACH. Most kids at this school are nice, but a small group can be bullies (staff doesn't do anything about it. Overall, this school is great for their education but horrid from preventing bullying.

The bus comes at 8:20 and comes to pick us up at 4:15 and dismissal is at 3:15 and one time they left us there till 5:20. They also called an assembly not about how late the buses were but for behavior. Which was bad but also the bus situation is even worse.

My 4th grader has thrived, especially in art where she has discovered a love of clay, and in science where learning is hands on and the teacher has brought in some truly fantastic guest speakers with interesting science related careers. The lower school campus is magical, with multiple playgrounds and big grassy fields to play in. Middle School on the other hand has been a big step up in academics and overall expectations, but my 6th grader is enjoying the independence and appreciates his advisory group as a supportive space. He recently participated in the district orchestra program hosted by SSSAS, tackling challenging music that left him feeling proud and accomplished. I think it speaks volumes that even my middle schooler loves his school. Both of my kids love SSSAS and couldn't imagine being anywhere else.

Because the ADA requires schools to provide help, they are incentivized to ignore problems. I have another child who went to SSSAS. The college counselor discourage her to reach for the best colleges. Fortunately she was strong willed and determined and got into a top 10 university. The college counselors were more interested in statistics such as "% of colleges acceptance ". If you are considering SSSAS be very carefully you will be spending hundreds of thousands of dollars.
