The staff are very polite. They are always ready to help with useful pieces of advice on hair care and treatment. Their prices are quite reasonable and they offer some discounts on their hair cuts from time to time. I was new to this city in the spring so it was the first place where I had my hair cut.Their service was very well. And I was absolutely happy with my hairdo.

When I arrived for my appointment Shenda took time to discuss my hair, my lifestyle, my requirements. During the blow-dry she took time to explain the technique, and even when finished extra hair caring tips. Ladies you all know what its like when at the end you cant wait to get home and wash your hair, and how you dread finding a new hairdresser Well I can honestly say, its been a long long time since I felt so pampered, listened to and important as a Customer. I wanted my hairdresser to be more decisive and in control of my hair, I wanted to be advised on what styles would suit me and have it done for me! Although they did do what I wanted, they seemed unsure in their own abilities. The prices were quite reasonable but I stuck with a junior stylist so perhaps that is why I wasnt as happy as I hoped. I went to…read moresome other three places before this and decided to go with crystal because she is seemed to be the most professional i.e. the other hairdresser in other salons did not bother to understand what style I wanted and did not give me confidence they knew what they were doing but pressured me into making an appointment with them which I found very rude. When I went to Crystal, she made me feel very comfortable, answered all my questions patiently and indicated exactly what products I'd need and how much it would all cost ahead of having anything done. For those of you who havent done a weave before, this can be a very involved process if you have frizzy African hair like me and I have always hated going to hairdressers but Crystal made the whole process much easier. I have read previews reviews and these are a bit mixed in opinion. My experience was very positive though. Crystal really is the type of person to do anything she can to make you feel comfortable and creates a very relaxed and fun environment around her. She is the type of person to indicate you where you need to go to get the products you need even if it means going to another salon and I think that goes to show she really puts the customer needs first. And thats what I am looking for when I want to have my hair done, someone who will not mess me around and will honestly advice me. The only thing Id say is that Crystal does all the work herself and I think that needs to be taken into account but considering the effort she puts in for every customer, she really does everything she can. And never shies away from going that extra bit to make sure you get the result you want.

It is a very modern salon (great for a small market town like Romsey!) but not intimidating at all, Sarah has many years of experience she trained with Tony and Guy and has now set up on her own. She also has a team of three young girls working with her and they are all up to date with new products and styles. I have my hair expertly highlighted by Georgie, everyone is so friendly and welcoming its like a family. Tea and Coffee is presented to you on a tray (filter coffee or small teapot - plus biscuits!!). A lovely head massage is also given to you whilst having the conditioner applied. They have now also expanded to do nails and I had my done by Siobhan free as a special offer for Mothers Day. Sarah cuts my hair, but there are also other stylists (my daughter usually has Georgie who is fantastic - and my daughter is VERY fussy who cuts her hair!), The salon is doing so well that Sarah is thinking about cutting only the clients that she has been with from the start, but I'm sure she will welcome new clients! It's a very busy salon but at no time are you made to feel unwelcome - everyone is treated as a friend. With Sarah I have always felt that she has understood what I wanted and really listens to any concerns I might have. She is very good at picking up any anxiety and talks me through what she thinks will work. For many years I would go to the salon and ask for the same cut again, which was fine, but now I am able to say what do you think will work? and she just knows what is going to suit my face and style. I completely trust her judgement and the cut is always fantastic. Recently I had a new style which I was having difficulty blow drying Sarah sat me down and helped me understand where i was going wrong. They have also started to have VIP evenings and I recently attended one which was to offer guidance in blow drying techniques. Georgie is my colourist and knows whats going to work with my hair and takes a real pride in her work. I used to have a fabulous colourist that I was with for over ten years so it was a real leap of faith to trust someone else. I didnt need to worry as she gets it right and i'm always happy with the colour. (I have had to change my review as so much has changed in a year!) Sarah Barrett Hairdressing is now an AVEDA salon and have expanded upstairs. Also Georgie is going on Maternity leave so I have swapped to Lee now and he is brilliant too. The salon staff are always very welcoming and genuinely friendly. The conversation is easy and breezy, never difficult as it can be in some salons. Drinks are always offered you dont have to ask, nothing is too much trouble. The salon stocks a good range of products to choose from everything is well tested by Sarah and the team so they know whats going to work. There is good parking nearby which is handy on a rainy day. I cant recommend this salon highly enough. I travel from Warsash to Romsey just for the experience so it must be good!! The hairdressing staff does change frequently, especially the Creative Directors (head stylist), but they'll try their hardest to get what you want. I have jet-black hair, but somehow the CD managed to concoct their own special permanent bright red hair colour that looked - yes - bright red when applied to my hair without any bleach whatsoever. The staff are very friendly and the prices quite reasonable. I'd definitely recommend coming here for any questions about what you might be considering, because the atmosphere is so laid-back.
