I have only been in Romsey since 2009 and it is always hard to find a new place that you can trust to cut your hair, after a few a disasters found this place which had only just opened. It is a very modern salon (great for a small market town like Romsey!) but not intimidating at all, Sarah has many years of experience she trained with Tony and Guy and has now set up on her own. She also has a team of three young girls working with her and they are all up to date with new products and styles. I have my hair expertly highlighted by Georgie, everyone is so friendly and welcoming its like a family. Tea and Coffee is presented to you on a tray (filter coffee or small teapot - plus biscuits!!). A lovely head massage is also given to you whilst having the conditioner applied. They have now also expanded to do nails and I had my done by Siobhan free as a special offer for Mothers Day. Sarah cuts my hair, but there are also other stylists (my daughter usually has Georgie who is fantastic - and my daughter is VERY fussy who cuts her hair!), The salon is doing so well that Sarah is thinking about cutting only the clients that she has been with from the start, but I'm sure she will welcome new clients! It's a very busy salon but at no time are you made to feel unwelcome - everyone is treated as a friend. This place is a breath of fresh air for Romsey which up until now has been full of the old fashioned type of salon which have not moved with the times, I'm sure Sarah's business will go from strength to strength, she also has a Facebook site where you can get special offers etc. read more

A visit to the Sarah Barrett salon is always a welcome treat. For many years, before finding Sarah, I found my salon experiences a bit traumatic and angst ridden as I couldnt connect with the stylist and quite often walked away with a cut and style I wasnt happy with. With Sarah I have always felt that she has understood what I wanted and really listens to any concerns I might have. She is very good at picking up any anxiety and talks me through what she thinks will work. For many years I would go to the salon and ask for the same cut again, which was fine, but now I am able to say what do you think will work? and she just knows what is going to suit my face and style. I completely trust her judgement and the cut is always fantastic. Recently I had a new style which I was having difficulty blow drying Sarah sat me down and helped me understand where i was going wrong. They have also started to have VIP evenings and I recently attended one which was to offer guidance in blow drying techniques. Georgie is my colourist and knows whats going to work with my hair and takes a real pride in her work. I used to have a fabulous colourist that I was with for over ten years so it was a real leap of faith to trust someone else. I didnt need to worry as she gets it right and i'm always happy with the colour. (I have had to change my review as so much has changed in a year!) Sarah Barrett Hairdressing is now an AVEDA salon and have expanded upstairs. Also Georgie is going on Maternity leave so I have swapped to Lee now and he is brilliant too. The salon staff are always very welcoming and genuinely friendly. The conversation is easy and breezy, never difficult as it can be in some salons. Drinks are always offered you dont have to ask, nothing is too much trouble. The salon stocks a good range of products to choose from everything is well tested by Sarah and the team so they know whats going to work. There is good parking nearby which is handy on a rainy day. I cant recommend this salon highly enough. I travel from Warsash to Romsey just for the experience so it must be good!! Also my Mother has recently swapped to the salon after having colour problems with another establishment. She is very happy to have swapped over and is loving her new hair. read more
