the way to start off a day - a white coffee
    Jen S.

I liked their light breakfasts so much that I came here twice during my week stay in Oxford. There's something to be said about light breakfasts which is why can't they have that in the states? Oh right? Light breakfasts means an egg McMuffin or a donut from DD eaten on the run. Their egg and smoked salmon atop an English muffin and egg with ham and English muffin both accompanied with a white coffee (coffee with milk) were divine. Now, this breakfast might not be acceptable for guys with a huge appetite like my husband has but for me, it was just right.

Super good little place for brunch. A little pricey, but I really enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast!

The breading was flaky and light, not over-fried like most fish and chips you get in the US.

The bar and restaurant areas are very inviting. A friend of mine was staying in the hotel and we came by a few times to eat and drink. One of my favorite places in Oxford for sure.

As a massive cream/afternoon tea lover, I was profoundly disappointed in this tea. Firstly, the price is exorbitantly high- 38£ + 5% service fee ends up at 45£ meal with nothing else included. The service was mediocre, you have to get up and ask for things (like sugar or the bill),but this is to be expected at a very empty location. The tea was what I found most dissatisfaction in, it was so weak!! I chose Earl Grey and then the Assam, I let the EG steep for 20!!! minutes and could barely get flavor. I'm honestly not sure how this even happens. Tried the Assam, and it tasted of watery black pepper rather than a smooth rich black tea. The sandwiches and scones were fine, uncreative but they're the best part. The dessert tier (sans a fantastic espresso craquelin choux), left much to be desired. A painfully dry cake, brownie that was identical to those sold at Taylor's, lemon pudding (served with no spoon!) and cheesecake. I left with more to be desired, or would have expected less to be paid in return. Walk a few blocks south of Parsonage, there are far better tea's in town.

We were seated quickly. The men working were friendly and let us know it might be a moment as they were taking care of a large party ahead of us. We were fine with that as we planned on doing the 2 for £13 cocktails to start, but we appreciated the warning! We both for the French martinis which we loved. The server brought out our small plate quickly and it was filling enough that we were fine to wait on entrees (though it came out rather quickly despite how busy they were). The pad Thai and burger were both great and flavorful. We did one entree and then a deal where we got a 3 course meal for £22. To finish the meal the popcorn chocolate brownie was decadent and I would 10/10 have it again. The vibes were cool and a great way to end the day. Prices were very reasonable as well. I would recommend this as a date night spot as well. Thank you fora fun experience! Glad we stopped by!
