It wasn't always but for the past 3 or 4 years (possibly ever since Crozier was bought out?) it is a miracle if I can get someone on the phone after holding for half an hour, after which time they now force you to leave a msg or hang up. This is a problem mostly with the phone option of "other" which would include Suboxone refills, which is an important part of Feinberg's practice. Also any other narcotic refills, calling to say you're running late, insurance issues, etc. I don't ever receive a return phone call letting me know that they are working on it or got my message - I just have to call around to the 3 or 4 pharmacies that are either where I live now or uses to live for an Rx to see if it has been called in and wait a week or two to hear back about an authorization for a test- that they make at their Crozier testing centers (bow over an hour away from me in Blue Bell) unless you know to ask them to ask for a specific imaging or whatever business. The best and worst experiences I had, however, were with the after hours answering service. The first time, it was 8 or at night and I was in Atlantic City. I realized I had forgotten one of my medications (I take 9... it's understandable) and it is one that if i miss by only a few hours I have incredibly scary and uncomfortable side effects from. We called the office and the woman who answered, an after hours answering service worker, went above and beyond for me. She somehow got in touch with Dr. F and I was able to make it with 30 seconds to spare at the pharmacy. That was years ago. A couple months ago, instead of my thyroid medication I take 50mcg of, I was given an Rx of the thyroid medication I take 5mcg of in a 50mcg dose. The generic names are almost identical. I had been taking it for a few days before I realized and was really freaked out about it. They had closed the office at 4 that day (a holiday Friday so Tuesday was the next time the office would be open) so I got the after hours person. I was literally crying, realizing I hadn't been taking my medication for close to a week and had been taking 20x the amount of the other. I have no idea how this happened but I was pleading and begging with her. Could she have been nicer? Yes. Was what happened her fault? No. She said she was not allowed to contact the doctors unless it was life and death and that she would get fires otherwise. Quite a policy change.

He is funny, but more than anything he conveys to his patients his fervent desire for them to feel better, and that he is on the same team as them. It's amazing what a transformative effect that has on a teenager. For example, on a recent visit, the NMT was being, well, a teen. Sullen, silent, maddeningly obstinate. He went into session staring at the ceiling and ignoring everything Dr. Hernz said, every attempt to start a conversation was met with a glare then a look away. Fun stuff. After about 10 minutes (really, I timed it) Dr. Hernz calmly turns to me and says "So, what have you noticed?" I began to share my observations, the NMT got up, walked out. OK. Then, five minutes later, he walks back in and...starts talking. Engages. Wow. Then Dr. Hernz tells him again, he's there to help him, he really wants him to feel better. My son, he looks at his doctor and says "I'm really sorry for walking out. I needed a moment but that was rude." Shut the front door. Dr. Hernz took it in stride, and they continued working. Other good things: Appointments are always on time, or within 5 minutes of scheduled time. Receipts are sent promptly within a day of the session. 95% of the time prescriptions are sent electronically, and this is done promptly. The imperfect: I don't always get a same-day response to email, it's usually a day or two. Occasionally prescriptions are not sent over promptly, as in sent within a day or two. Messages left for him are returned, sometimes same day, sometimes within a day or two. It's a graceful pace of administration. Also, no surprises, he does not participate with any insurance carrier. This is not surprising, it's rare to find a psychiatrist who does, they are a nationally underserved medical specialty, and especially in child psychiatry, there are far too few of them available, period. The good part of that is that his fees are reasonable, so the amount over what our insurance plan covers is fairly small. If you can't guess by the time you got here, YES I would recommend him. He's wonderful.

I was a peer educator and Dr. F trained us to do workshops, intervention and reach out to students at TU on the issues of drug and alcohol use. He was one of the most accessible and easy going professors that I knew. I often found myself talking to Dr. F about things I was going through because he was so easy to talk to. Respectively, I could tell he wasn't a stranger to the crazy college lifestyle (partying, relationship woes, family struggles, work balance, etc) I was living and he never made me feel "less than" or like he didn't get it. Dr. F always just got it. I think Dr. F would be a great therapist for anyone wanting to explore the role addiction serves in his or her world. If you're ready to make a change, Dr. Frank is who I would suggest.

The only thing I can add to the experience that made me give a overall rating of 2 is that I had a issue with a bill sent to me that was for a appt in march 2016 and I got a bill in july and told them about it. The medical assistant Kavetta (spelled it the best i can) that work there told me bring the bill in so they can work in it. I brought the bill in late aug or early sept for them to fix the issue. A month went by and the issue still not fixed. I called and told Kavetta again she said bring in the new bill again which i did the issue still was not resolved. Next I got a bill saying it will go to collections so if it is not paid. so i told them again and told me the same thing bring the bill in and i explained to them it will got to collections soon so can you please work on it that was on nov 7th I have the paper with the date stamped showing they received it. so i called on nov 11 and asked if they worked on the bill and did they get a person name they spoke to so i can have it just in case and Kavetta said they were very busy so they didn't have time to call, I then told her i will check up on it again on mon nov 14th. So i called on nov 14th to ask Kavetta if she worked on it and she said someone told her it is in collections and they can't work on it because it said LCA collections on top of the paper and call the collections company to handle the issue . I told her it is not in collections just say that on the paper that is why i am bothering you often now I don't want it to go to collections. I then explained to her i am getting frustrated because this issue need to be fixed and said I been calm for the longest and haven't cursed or nothing but we are not getting nowhere on this issue I need it resolved. While i was speaking she said i don't have time for your raising your voice and hung up on me mind you I didn't raise my voice. she also said you can find another doctor if you want you don't have to come here come sign your release forms and go somewhere else before she hung up. I then called back and said why you hung up she said i have kids older then you and you don't speak to me like that and she hung up again on me. I then got a call on my way to get my release forms signed and she left a vociemail saying it has been resolved that was less than 10 mins later. I then went to say I would like to get my release forms so i can sign it and they said i have to wait a month for it. The the staff is great but if I had one issue only in 4 years of being there and get that kind of treatment from the same person (kavetta) that treats me and draw my blood and ete for the doctor. I wouldn't feel safe going back because she didn't understand my concern which is 3 months it is going on now and then treat me like i have been there one time and getting frustrated after months of trying to resolve the issue. so to be safe i will leave this doctor and find a new one because i do not need a medical assistant touching me or being around me that is not understanding of my concern which is ongoing and I was being professional throughout the entire process. it is still customer service at the end of the day also and she made a choice for the doctor to lose a patient
