I went to both and looked around and it seemed like I wasn't going to get much of a selection at either. But after a conversation with both stores, I realized Brewer's art actually had pretty much everything I needed. They have a pretty large selection of grains, hops, yeast, and wine making materials. They pretty much stick to the most common of ingredients, but will special order items for you if needed. I have yet to have the need to for them to special order anything. They sell white labs yeast. No WYeast. But their selection of yeast is pretty robust. The other store only carried about 4 varieties. They also don't carry 5 star PBW, but they have a powdered alkaline wash that honestly works just as well. They also have a container refill program. when your container runs out, bring the container back in and get it refilled. I can't remember if it's slightly cheaper for the refill or not, but it cuts down on a lot of waste. They are helpful, give good advice, and will help adjust your recipe if the alpha for the hops you ordered aren't what they currently have in stock. You just need to be receptive of advice. They can get a little bogged down on the days they get deliveries or have a lot of orders, so if you're worried about how long you will have to be in the store to grab what you need, give them a call or shoot them a message on facebook. My only real issue is there is no website to go look at current inventories or a list of their ingredients. I have been told this is in the works. In the mean time, they will happily give you a print out of that months current ingredient stock. They also have a rewards card so don't forget to get that puppy stamped.

When I went in you feel a little overwhelmed but the staff make sure you know 200% what your doing. They also tell you if you have any questions to call. My first batch of beer was a bust, but I took a bottle of it in like they asked. They told me exactly what went wrong and gave me a punch card full so I could get a percentage off to try again. The Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society is located just outside of Fort Wayne in New Haven. My…read morefamily came to the historical society on December 2, 2023 for their annual Christmas Caboose trains. It certainly was an interesting experience. It's in a real train yard, and you have time before boarding to tour of the engine of a train and speak to people who have been engineers on a train. Truly fascinating. It was a cold day, thankfully they also had a food truck the sold coffee and hot chocolate available, i grabbed a coffee on the way out. They also had a gift shop available, it sold shirts, coffee mugs, carved wooden trains and other items. Once the train was ready, we got coach area and off we went. It was a small train ride, just 20 minutes. This train ride, also was really meant more for children. There was a santa who would go from passenger car to passenger car to great children. I would definitely recommend this one to anyone who has children! The Fort Wayne Railroad Historical society also runs longer rides from other areas and they have interesting events. I would suggest you look at their website: https://fortwaynerailroad.org Again, although this was meant more for children and families with children, it was a fun experience and helped me think of a time where trains were the primary mode of long distance transportation in landlocked areas. It made me want to go on ones more for adults and i may go on another from the historical society. The Quayle Vice Presidential Learning Center in Huntington, Indiana is a museum I have wanted to…read moresee for a long time. This summer I finally had a chance to make a visit there, and it was truly worth the journey. This is the place to go if you want to learn about each of the 50 Vice President - or "veep," as the grandson of Alben Barkley, Harry Truman's vice president, started to call him. Barkley is also the only U.S. vice president to marry while in office as well as the oldest person elected to the vice presidency. Indiana claims as many as six vice presidents, of whom Dan Quayle and Mike Pence are still alive. Two vice presidents, Charles Fairbanks (from Indiana) and George Dallas have had cities named after them. Museum has its own parking lot right next to the building. When the schools are in session, the museum is often packed with students and children, so summer months are really the best times to make your visit. The reason I didn't give five stars is that the museum doesn't have a gift shop, which I always love to visit at museums to buy souvenirs.

My first experience with the Dan Quayle Center and Museum came during a Tenderness Tour event that…read moreincluded a stop in Huntington, Indiana, the former Vice-President's hometown and the host for the Dan Quayle Center and Museum. It is, of course, also the home of Huntington University. I have to be honest and say that I really enjoyed that visit and it gave me super fond memories of the museum. The director that I met was really friendly and let me see as much as I could from my wheelchair. Quayle was Vice-President from 1989-1993 under President George H.W. Bush. He tried to snag the Republican nomination in 2000, though that effort fell short fairly quickly. I'd never really thought about vice-presidents also having any type of museum, though this museum located in an old Christian Science church is actually quite a nice sized museum. Tremendous attention is actually given to all the vice-presidents with each one having on display memorabilia, letters, and more. While Quayle himself has donated much to the museum, other items have been acquired in auctions or on Ebay. Did you know that Indiana has actually been the home of six vice-presidents and three other VP candidates? The upstairs area is primarily dedicated to Quayle himself. There are items from childhood and the infamous dog-chewed law degree. Marilyn Quayle's inaugural gown is here and so is the Bible Quayle was sworn into office on. There is, of course, a gift shop that is actually pretty cool. Over the years, the museum has sort of transitioned from simply a museum to an actual "learning center." In 2008, its name was officially changed to The Quayle Vice Presidential Learning Center. Quayle himself no longer lives in Huntington. So, if you're hoping to catch Quayle popping in you're probably out of luck. However, when he wrote a book they had copies and I was touched that an autographed copy was actually donated to the Tenderness Tour. It continued my fondness for this place. The Quayle Center is open limited hours. So, if you're planning on a road trip I'd be sure to check the hours. This is especially true with the pandemic. Admission is only $3 for adults and $1 for ages 7-17. They also have group rates. Huntington is actually a rather neat little city and worth a day trip. I found students from nearby Huntington University to be incredibly friendly and there are some terrific dining options in town including Nick's Kitchen (famous for their tenderloin). If you have a young one into politics or presidential history, this is definitely worth the road trip.

I'm amazed at the intricate details that these artists are able to create. They had several permanent and rotating exhibitions worth exploring. Historic Forks of the Wabash is a historic museum park near Huntington, Indiana, that features…read moreseveral historic buildings, trails and remnants of the Wabash and Erie Canal. The location was the signing location of the historic Treaty at the Forks of the Wabash in 1838. The park is located along the Wabash River. They offer tours, educational programs and events throughout the year. When we visited in October, we noticed that their Haunted Trail was taking place. We were there for a Wedding Reception in their event space. The space had everything required with space for tables, as well as a DJ booth in a rectangular area with a kitchen that could be closed off as needed at one end. The restrooms were not large but were adequate and clean. Parking outside was shared with the public using the trails and park area but seemed to accommodate both well.
