We moved to Mineola and purchased a house. We opted to use the same insurance agency that the…read moreprevious home owner used. That was a mistake. Initially we paid about the same as the previous home owner but at around a year the Allstate agency raised our rates by 72% with no claims or changes. We had our home owners policy impounded at the local bank so it apparently made it easy for the Allstate agency to do this without our approval. It was a classic bait and switch. The agency also neglected to give us a substantial discount for the class 4 roof that they had previously insured. Our automobile insurance also increased drastically with no claims or accidents. When contacted their response was flippant and unprofessional. This is being reported to the Texas department of insurance. Beware! It makes me wonder how many other customers this is being done to under the guise of being a friendly small tow UPDATE- Now this corrupt agency is trying to bill us $293 for coverage after they already reimbursed us more than $800 when we cancelled all of our policies. We will escalate our case with Allstate corporate as well as the open case with the Texas Department of Insurance. The fact is-they owe us money for knowingly withholding the discount for the class 4 roof that they had previously paid the insurance claim for and gave the discount to the previous home owner. I had Cozad for a year or two, but recently they sent me a letter that my insurance was expiring and it was time for renewal. When I looked at the bill, it was almost $1000 more then last year. And i have a 20 year clean driving record! Cozad said nothing to me about this giant increase, just assumed I'd pay it, I suppose. I cancelled Cozad after that and will buy my own from now on. Even after they went shopping around for a better deal for me, I was able to save $2-300 more/year by doing my own shopping. And no spam emails or junk mail to boot. Adios, Cozad.
