I had a really disappointing experience this morning with Brunswick Taxi. I have a traumatic brain injury (TBI), and I've worked really hard over the years on things like my speech and confidence in everyday interactions. Because of that, this situation hit me harder than it might otherwise. My driver (he was wearing a burgundy leather jacket, had a big mustache) made a comment that I "seemed sketchy" simply because I tried to use Apple Pay. That caught me completely off guard. If this were late at night, maybe I could understand a bit more caution--but this was a normal daytime ride, and I was clearly trying to pay for the trip. I wasn't acting suspicious or trying to avoid payment in any way. I was actually being friendly and conversational during the ride. He even mentioned he was having a boring Easter weekend, so I tried to engage and be polite. That's why the comment felt even more unnecessary and discouraging. On top of that, the driver didn't seem to know where we were going. At one point, he was about to take a turn in the opposite direction, which would have added time (and cost) to my fare. I didn't make a big deal out of it at the time, but it was frustrating--especially since this could have easily been avoided by just entering the address into a GPS. What made it more confusing was that when we arrived, he started chatting with a worker at the laundromat like he knew the area, which made the situation feel inconsistent. I understand that drivers may have had bad experiences in the past, but I don't think it's fair to label or ridicule someone based on how they choose to pay--especially in a world where digital payments are completely normal. As long as someone has the funds and intends to pay, that should be what matters. Honestly, the interaction left me feeling embarrassed and discouraged. After putting in a lot of effort to rebuild my confidence, this really set me back and ended up ruining my weekend. A few weeks ago my husband called for a ride to catch a 3am flight. 3:10 he calls to see where they are at and they said they had nothing on the books. Today a driver almost hit me going over into my lane so I honked the horn to let him know and as he moved over and I passed he leaned over and gave me the middle finger! My wife and I arrived in Brunswick from a 3-day skiing trip in the Maine woods. I was trying to find a taxi that could get us to the airport the next morning, and Lisa was so helpful I couldn't believe it. Not only did she arrange the cab ride for the next morning and promised to get us there even earlier if an earlier spot opened, she was so kind to help us find restaurants that were open on a Monday evening that were within walking distance! (There were none, but DoorDash was a big help.) I've never encountered a dispatcher as kind and generous with her time as Lisa. All service personnel should be as good as she is! read more

My experience this evening with Brunswick Taxi was beyond 5 stars. We requested a pickup in Harpswell to go to Westport Island/Wiscasset for a dinner from 5-8:30. On the ride there, Jimmy picked us up and he was so nice and kind. I didn't catch the drivers name on the ride home (and will update it if I find it(, the driver was nice enough to wait a little Ofer when the dinner ran long. Both times, the vans we were picked up in were clean and the drivers arrived early. I will say I was hesitant to use them based on the prior reviews, but our service was excellent! It was also very reasonably priced. Would recommend and would absolutely use them again! I'll just also note that if you are unfamiliar with the roads around here, they can get VERY foggy and hard to see at night. Called and taxi was there in 2 minutes! Rate was lower than Lyft and the driver was very polite. It's not labeled like a taxi so the only thing to consider is, that if you are like me and a solo female who likes to know who the driver will be, there weren't any identifying markers other than a handwritten paper on the dash (which I couldn't see). Maybe just ask the office when you call what to look for. Have cash ready, but he said he could call in a card. I had cash so it was no problem. read more

I was on a cruise up the east coast of the US from New York to Canada(Sept 22-20 2024). During the stop in Portland ME i went on my own excursion taking a Lyft to the Maine Maritime Museum/Bath Iron Works area(35 miles) After about 2.5 hours I was ready to take a Lyft/Uber back the Portland Harbor. No Uber or Lyft responded to my request and after 15 minutes I went inside the museum to ask for a Taxi cab company. The number they gave me had a voice mailbox that was full. I then looked up and found Brunswick Taxi on the internet called the number and talked to someone there. They had someone coming by in 20 minutes. About 20 minutes later a minivan picks me up and takes me to the Portland Cruise Terminal. I am extremely grateful to have Brunswick Taxi help me out so I did not miss my ship. They said they would come in a few minutes and now they are closed and I don't have a cab or a ride home. They are horrible. The dispatcher has no clue what he is doing. Not all of the drivers are horrible but the service is. Waiting for someone to start their own cab service. read more

I'll NEVER call these people again! I'm 79 years old, and had just spent the day as a patient at a hospital. Driver picked me up at Midcoast Hospital, and I walked slowly to the car because I was still in pain. Driver didn't get out to give me a hand, even though he had one of these big cars with VERY HEAVY SLIDING DOORS. So I struggled with the door while the driver JUST SAT THERE! And the vehicle was HIGH, so It took me a while to get in, and then I again had trouble with that heavy sliding door. He just sat there and said "You gotta pull HARDER!" Finally I got it closed, and when we got to my house, he STILL JUST SAT THERE while I struggled with that heavy door again, because it HURT to move it! I almost fell getting out. So I DIDN'T tip him, left the door open, and somehow got into the house. The unkindness and complete lack of professionalism was DISGUSTING! Ususally folks in Maine are nice to older people, but NOT THIS TOTAL JERK! I'll NEVER call them again! read more

I took a quick trip up to the area for the weekend on the train, and Brunswick taxi came in key when I needed to get to and from my lodging! I requested a meeting time within 30-60 minutes of needing to get somewhere and both times the driver showed up early (once for a pick up in Brunswick and once for a pick up in Bath). Clean cars, nice drivers, good rates- I highly recommend them! read more

I traveled alone from Nevada to Maine to move into college. On move-in day, I had to take a trip from my motel to Target, then back to the motel, then from the motel to campus; 3 rides in total. Scheduling over the phone was easy, the driver was on-time, friendly, and helpful. Especially in an area where ubers and lyfts are usually scarce, this service was not only good but also necessary. Waited 50 mins total at 2:40 said they would be here to pick me up in 20 mins.... Called them after being 10 mins late & the lady on the phone was extremely rude it was 21 degrees outside but the wind chill was making it actually 15 degrees outside. At 3:30 they finally showed up but I decided to stand there & my friend ended up picking me up instead. I ignored the taxi when they finally came because I'm not giving any business to rude staff. I'm not ever using this service again. If I need to go somewhere I'll get me an Uber or Lyft. read more

Uh i hate taxi companies. Über and Lyft are way better and more dependable. Called at 2:19 and was told it would be 30 minutes for the cab to get here. An hour later im still waiting and the only other cab company drivers a school bus part time so he wasn't available. I get it that it's Memorial Day and all but traffic in Brunswick is nothing like Tampa FL. Do yourself a favor and just rent a car cause at least they will pick you up! read more

Very disturbing. Driver did not disinfect seats, said she didn't have any wipes after prior passengers. During the drive, she did not wear a mask and said they only do it when the customers requests it. This is not a good choice during the pandemic. read more

Called for a ride and was told it would be about 40 minutes. Almost 2 hours later I called to cancel and the driver said he was outside my home laying on the horn for 15 minutes. Take into account I live in a very small neighborhood and my house is anything but sound proof. We were in the living room waiting and checking outside the whole time and never saw headlights and absolutely did not hear someone laying on the horn and neither did any of my neighbors who are literally 5 feet away from where he supposedly was parked beeping. Very rude and unprofessional when we called to cancel. Would not use again. Have never had a good experience with this taxi service and have almost 100% of the time had to cancel because they either forget or take double the time they say they would. Uber is the way to go. read more

I called Brunswick taxi in the morning for a specific time pickup. Driver arrived a minute before scheduled time and took the shortest most direct route to my destination. Price was reasonable. Vehicle was clean. Driver was nice and friendly. I was a little shocked that driver did not get out of the car to load my bags either on pickup or when we reached my destination ... but now realize that was probably a new Covid rule. Used this taxi service for the first time since moving to the area- my husband needed our vehicle due to a sporadic work schedule this week so I got a ride to the grocery store with my two year old son and figured we would take a taxi home. The driver sat in the car and watched me load up two entire carts full of groceries and then watched me unload them when we arrived at our destination. I had already planned on matching the fare price (as we only live a short distance from the store) in exchange for help in and out of the car. Nothing- no help- zero hospitality. The only reason I'm even giving this place two stars is due to the cleanliness of the car. The driver was clearly unmotivated to give his passengers a positive experience and because of that, he gave me a perfectly good reason to take my service elsewhere in the future. read more

The first time I called for a ride the street number was 16 and the driver went to 10. When I called the taxi service they were upset at me for their mistake. The second time I called it was for a 4pm pickup the following day. They sent someone a day early (not my fault) now they are refusing to serve me. The lady that took the call was very insulting and rude. Very unprofessional! She hung up on me very angry, told me she will never provide rides for me. I kept trying to call her back to tell her I would pay for the missed ride and she kept hanging up on me. I have an abscess tooth that is killing me, now I can't see my dentist all due to their incompetense! read more

Ride with this company three times while in Brunswick and Bath area. Drivers were friendly and helpful. Vehicles were clean.

My husband called them at 12 pm to schedule a pick up for 9 pm as he had to work at 10 pm. He waited till about 9:15 and called to see if they were on their way, dispatch said they were sending someone right away. No one ever showed. My husband missed a whole night work because Brunswick Taxi couldn't even do their job. if I could give Zero stars I would. We have had issues with them for years no showing up, or times where they say could take an hour and it's over 2 hours before you see them if they show up. They feel like they can do what they want because there is no competition in the area. read more

I rarely use taxis, save for when I'm traveling out of town--except for today. Car was on the fritz (or so I thought). Since Brunswick doesn't have an Uber presence (except when I'm out and about with my partner app turned on), I needed a ride from Cook's Corner to Topsham, for work. Brunswick Taxi saved the day. Both Mike (who drove me to work) and Steve (who drove me home) were courteous and professional. I hope I don't need to use a local taxi service again in the near future, but if I do, I'm glad to know Brunswick Taxi is available to get me to where I need to go. read more

Needed a ride near the airport at a hotel to catch an eat flight. We we're leaving a bit late so did not want to trouble family with the drive. Nice service. Nice vehicle. Friendly driver. Would have rated a 5 if they would have taken a credit card. Do not like paying cash. Other than that would use again. Got to say though, with Lyft or Uber you don't have to pay cash or drag our a card. Not so readily available in my area. read more

I've been a customer for over 20 years. Over the past month, I've used Brunswick Taxi several times. Each of those times, I was unable to get reliable information as to how long it might be for the cab to arrive. Once I was told (after I'd already waited for 40 minutes when I was told 30 mins.) that the cab would be here "any second". So, I went outside and waited almost 10 more minutes. Another time, I was told they they'd "be right there" only to wait for 1/2 hour; I called back only to learn a mistake was made, and I had to wait another 15 minutes. I wouldn't be able to trust calling Brunswick Taxi to take me to Dr. appointments or any other urgent appointments. PLEASE, if it's going to be more than perhaps five minutes, don't say"we'll be right there". I'd rather KNOW it's going to be an hour before they can pick me up, than to think it's only going to be a few minutes, and end up waiting for an hour - all the while wondering if I should call back because another mistake has been made. read more

The amount of times I've had to call multiple times and been told "oh I thought we already picked you up, must have picked up someone else instead" is just insane. Today I sat in front of Walmart in the freezing cold rain for over a hour waiting for a taxi. Not one apology for being late or not picking up the right person the first two times. Instead I get the guy on the phone yelling at me for "not being in the right spot". The way half these taxi drivers drive I would have to stand in the middle of the road and risk being hit for them to even notice me.
