For years I have dropped off family and friends at the bus stations. I haven't actually taken it until recently. We decided to take the bus as it was the cheapest option for our trip, when we considered gas money and parking fees and taking a plane from Boston vs. Portland. Parking is convenient and relatively inexpensive. I liked having an electronic options for a ticket vs. paper ticket. The waiting area is stale/aged. There are restrooms. There are vending machines for food and drink. The staff was present and helpful when needed. Directing people where to line up etc and what to be prepared with when lining up. The seating area is ok - not comfortable, but there seemed to be enough seats for those that were gathered first thing in the morning. The service to Boston Logan Airport is great. They store the luggage under the bus. Drops you off at the terminal ours was E - so they gave us a luggage tag to show our terminal. It definitely made me less nervous about them accidentally unloading our luggage for the wrong people at the wrong terminal. The bus ride was fine. There is a restroom if needed on board. I like the foot rest you can use while seated. There were seatbelts available as well. No movie on the buses I was on. I will definitely use this option again if I need to fly out of Logan. read more

Easy, clean, modern, affordable, prompt. I took Concord from Portland to Boston Logan. The online ticketing ahead of time was easy. Tagging luggage according to Logan terminal was a good system. The driver and folks at the counter were friendly. The bus seating was clean and comfy. Concord is relatively high tech for a coach bus business with wifi on board, an automated safety video, and automated boarding calls in the bus terminal. Where to line up and when to arrive is clear. Water bottles are offered as you're boarding. On the bus, you have a small restroom, drink holders, outlets, and a couple trash cans. The location of the terminal in Portland is central and co-located with Amtrak. The restroom at this transportation center is nice. read more

It's a great option to get to/from BOS for those more direct and international trips. Also a great option for car-free journeys to see the BoSox at Fenway. Cleanliness isn't quite up to operating room standards, but it's generally good enough. I will say the staff is by and large extremely friendly (and helpful). Inner city Greyhound terminals in DC, Chicago, Philly, even Seattle are miserable. Concord may not go as many places as Greyhound or Peter Pan, but Concord is amongst the best bus experiences I've had. read more

This is the best way to get to Portland either to the airport or just in general. (The train is great too) but for the airport this takes you right to the terminal. It's takes around 2 hours and is only around $50 which is amazing. The bus was clean, their are restrooms on the bus. You don't have to deal with Boston traffic which is a plus. You can buy a ticket but if you need an earlier or later bus and there is room you can hop on. Overall a great way to get to Boston from Portland or some other places in Maine. read more

Is it the cleanest bus terminal? No. Are the buses themselves especially pristine? No. Are the movies they play on the bus great? No. Are the bus drivers nice? Actually, for the most part, yeah. But... This is the best way to get to Logan in Boston. It really is. A roundtrip ticket is about $60; and, you can pre-purchase online very easily! The bus takes anywhere from 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours and 15 minutes (depending on the time of day/traffic/whether your specific trip includes a stop at South Station as well) to go from Portland to the airport. In my experience, they've done a great job at tagging (with your Terminal) and storing your luggage under the bus. They've also been very prompt about leaving Portland on time! Even though you have to choose a return time from Logan to Portland, you can actually hop on any bus at any time. The pick-up from the airport can be a little chaotic: there's LOTS of people standing around waiting for a bus of some kind, so make sure you're in line/very near to the curb for the correct bus (Concord Coach) so you can get on and secure your seats (which become fewer depending on which Terminal you're being picked up at; recently the bus driver kicked off a whole bunch of passengers at South Station [which happens after the pick-up at the airport] because there weren't enough seats]). On that note: don't expect this return trip from Boston to be as prompt as the outbound from Portland. Once the bus showed up an hour late. Another time the bus showed up 45 minutes early, and they announced - despite what the schedule said - it would actually be the final bus going from Logan to Portland that night (we were lucky to have landed so soon and have gotten through US Customs so quickly, because I'm not sure what people who landed just an hour later than us would have done). Still: I would so much rather take Concord to the airport than drive myself (and deal with driving in Boston, the tolls, the parking...) or to ask a friend! read more

I've been relying on Concord Coach Lines for years. They have excellent service to and from Logan Airport to various places (including Portland Maine, which is where I usually take it). Staff at the Portland station and ticket counter are friendly and helpful. Today I arrived just before take off and they were kind enough to still sell me a ticket (everyone else had already boarded the bus). If you elect to purchase your ticket online be sure to print it out as they do not accept electronic tickets (this is particularly helpful to know if you are traveling from Logan to Portland as there is no kiosk or ticket counter at the airport). They have a clean and welcoming waiting area for your family to hang out with you before you board. They also have vending machines and free coffee. Bathroom is large, clean, and has a handful of stalls. I've never had to wait to use the restroom before boarding my bus or train. Every driver I've had has greeted me warmly and genuinely and luggage is stowed in the bus undercarriage with care. Also, there are complimentary pretzels and cold bottled water for the journey. Sometimes there's even an on board movie to enjoy! Online free Wifi can be a bit spotty but has been working just fine for me on my current journey. I will definitely continue riding with Concord Coach Lines for my Maine-NH-MA travel needs. read more

Update - took it again from NYC to Portland. If you travel on a Sunday add 30 minutes to the trip length due to horrendous traffic in CT and MA. Also I cannot get over how bumpy and jarring the ride was most of the way, and that Concord remains so stingy with their small snack box and especially the water - only two tiny bottles for a 6.5-hour trip. Should you, perhaps, find that your airline throws up their metaphorical hands and says, "Get outta here- here's a pass for a cab to the bus terminal and here's a voucher for the bus to Boston Logan, good luck getting home from there!" you'll then have the opportunity to compare planes, cabs, and bus travel. This terminal smells overwhelmingly like piss. Not a faint hint of "did someone leave the door to the restroom open?" but a solid "I better watch where I step, the floors are likely slippery and I don't want to fall in it." The rest room auto paper towel dispensers produce the smallest paper towels I've ever seen. Maybe the smell is from people wiping their hands on their pants. The gate agents have a brusque but polite enough and efficient manor. Upon boarding my bus I have to say the seats are spacious and firm enough, the smell of decent marijuana which quickly wafted from the back of the bus was more floral than the odor inside the terminal. I haven't taken a bus between Massachusetts and Maine since I was probably 20, and clearly I've gotten a bit soft and snobby. I will now try to loosen up. I am nothing but grateful that there's an easy $30 option to get to Logan, the cabbie tried to pitch me a ride for $200 and there are no flights out. In theory I'll be at Logan in two hours, and that's about 22 hours less than I've already been trying to get out of Portland Jetport via plane. There are movie screens about every 4 seats on this bus with the passengers voting on what movie to watch of the about 12 movies available available. The driver is pleasant and the passengers are diverse and unobtrusive except for that smoke break. There are charging outlets at every seat and free wifi. This is plush! I'd give it another star if the terminal was cleaner. I arrived at about 12:45 on a Monday afternoon, I suspect the scent won't be aging well as the afternoon progresses. But the bus is an inexpensive, efficient, fast enough and good enough way to get gone, get the heck out of town, and for climate's sake if no other reason - go ahead, don't expect it's a limo or G5- just take the bus! read more

They also offer free plug in ear phones for watching a movie which was also a nice surprise. As a first time visitor to Maine, I thought this service was fantastic. The drivers were all very friendly and informative about our destination and ETA. The seating is spacious and comfortable. They have monitors and play movies which you can listen through a headphone/earphone jack in front of you. The bus service is super convenient if your flying out of Logan and only $50 round trip. Parking is $5 a day which is cheaper than parking at the airport itself. The bus is clean, usually not busy so you can stretch out in your own seat, and has wifi. If you have bags, they'll tag them depending on the airline your flying and drop you right off in the appropriate part of the airport. I don't know about you, but I'll take not dealing with the stress of driving through an airport and parking any day. Pay $50 and you take me and my stuff to exactly where I need to be? As a resident of Maine, I have taken Concord Coach lines quite often. They offer handy connections to Boston (Logan and South Station) from several parts of Maine. Normally the buses run on time and have professional drivers. The buses run hourly! They also provide you with a movie, pretzels, and a bottle of water. My only grip is that the ticket is quite pricey at 30$. However, you can easily reduce the price by buying your ticket through Mega Bus. Megabus sells Concord tickets at a much cheaper price! The only negative is that Megabus tickets are only valid for buses to South Station. From South Station to Logan is pretty cheap and easy. I was a bit upset that I had decided to save myself hassle by buying the much more expensive ticket to go to Logan only to have the bus that I was on stop at South Station first. As the roads were bad and I was already feeling anxious about flying the added stop was not appreciated. I feel like I should have just bought the cheaper ticket from Megabus as I would have arrived at the same time!!! read more

Concord is a fantastic way to travel from Boston to Maine! The drivers are great and I've taken so many trips with no major problems. The wifi can be a little slow at times but pulls through when ya really need it. The drivers are always very nice, and I'm always one for free pretzels and water (the starving college kid in me). Honestly the trip is a great deal, round-trip is around $40-50, and it's as great as it can be for a bus. You can get tickets easily once you get there, or you can get them online. read more

Bus was clean and pleasant for the two hour trip from Portland to Boston and driver was friendly. however, on the way back, driver refused to wait for a minute while our bags were coming around the carousel. he even told a woman who had loaded her bags on and informed him that her husband was in the bathroom that she needed to get off and that he could not wait. he was extremely rude for absolutely no reason. if this wasn't the only way to get home, I would definitely use another coach line. read more

It's a bus so how high can anyone's expectations be? Some pros: they provide complimentary water and pretzels along with ear buds for movies on board the bus. Seating was leather which I appreciate because it reduces risk of germs like material covered seats. Bathroom had ample soap and towelettes wipes. Bus was on time. Some cons: cup holder was sticky so that indicates not a lot of cleaning happening in between rides bc we were the first ppl on the bus. You have to have a paper printed ticket. I'm going to tell you why this peeved me. So I print stuff front and back bc why hinder my oxygen to waste trees to waste paper. But anyway being environmental conscious didn't work out well for me because my return tickets were on the other side of the paper. (Face Palm) so.. the driver is all " if you don't have paper tickets you'll have to give me your state ID as collateral" Ugh.. no sir I will not. Long story short I just gave both my tickets. Front n back, kept my ID and fortunately I was able to re-print my tickets before my return ride. read more

This didn't start out as a 5 star review, but it certainly turned into one. The driver stowed all the bags and followed us onto the bus at Logan Airport, heading for Portland ME. Alan and I were the last to board and the bus was fairly full. We worked our way back and I took a seat and he continued on to another seat one row back on the other side. Suddenly the bus moved forward and Alan came perilously close to falling. I yelled at the bus driver that he was making my husband fall and people looked startled. I also swore, quietly, I hope, but audibly. We made another stop and I seethed as we left the airport and the driver made his announcements, mostly common sense, courtesy measures in assure comfort in a shared environment, like no long cell phone conversations, just brief, emergency-only ones, music listened to w/ headphones, etc. There were free water, pretzels and headphones available until they ran out and a movie was shown. It was raining pretty heavily and as the driver, Larry, guided us skillfully through the traffic on the rain slicked roads, my anger dissipated and I felt glad that it wasn't us doing the driving. The bus itself was clean and comfortable, w/ blue leather seats, overhead bins and cup holders on the seat in front. There's also a bathroom aboard, although neither of us used it. Larry gave us an ETA and arrived in the middle of it, around 7:00. Alan and I were the last off the bus by choice, so other people who can move more quickly could get off. When we came to the front, Larry took Alan's backpack and our canes from me and then helped us each off the bus. Once Alan was out Larry apologized to us for starting before Alan was seated, explaining that we were far enough back he hadn't realized Alan was still making his way to the seat. He helped us bring our bags into the terminal, apologizing twice more. Then he arranged for a cab to take us to our motel. His response was heartfelt and caring and we appreciated it. As we were traveling along Highway1 I was thinking about what a good job Alan had done organizing this leg of our journey. read more

Decided to take the bus from Portland to get to Boston Logan Airport. For under $100, my family of four and our 9lb dog got to relax and take naps while not worrying about traffic, parking or anything else. Seats are comfy with plenty of leg room. Outlets are provided in every section to plug in electronics and a movie is provided for our entertainment. Only downside is the fact that the movie is Back To the Future. Would have been nice to have a movie that was made in the past couple years, but for us who remember it from our childhood, it was good. read more

When my Dad first told me to take the bus, I had a knee-jerk reaction to veto it. I imagined a dirty bus, weirdos, and lots of stops. Concord Coaches are completely different. They buses are spotless, run on time, provide snacks and water, have reclining seats, and entertainment (movies!) and free wifi. You are able to buy tickets online or when you arrive to the station. This is probably the best way to get to Boston from Portland. It's hassle-free for the most part and if you're going to Logan, it will drop you off right at your terminal. Free wi-fi on the bus, a movie to watch to pass the time and general silence are wonderful things. I like that they don't generally allow people to talk on their cell phones on the bus, so you end up with a peaceful ride and not a lot of chatter. I took the Logan Express at 5 am and we made excellent time to the airport even accounting for Boston traffic. The drivers were all really pleasant and got my bags out onto the curb for me. The express bus offers pretzel and water to the passengers which I thought was a nice perk. A round trip ticket between Logan and Portland set me back $49 which seemed reasonable to me. I didn't pay for parking because I had someone take me to and pick me up from the bus station. I feel that's worth the expense of having to get to the airport, pay for parking and the gas to drive there. I have taken Concord Coach lines from Boston to Portland ME around 15 times now and am consistently impressed with the service. The busses are always clean and comfortable, with working outlets and free water and pretzels for passengers. I like that they play Monty Python movies. The drivers are also always super nice and really helpful. Busses are always on time. Even getting picked up at 4:45am the other day in South Station, my driver had a huge smile on his face. This is the best bus line I've ever taken, and while it's usually cheaper than Greyhound anyway, I would be willing to pay more to take Concord. Highly recommended. read more

When I complained and sent pictures -- as the customer service agent I called requested -- it took the company more than two weeks with "the driver said to say sorry." Nothing about appreciating my longtime ridership, no apologies for the stress I encountered, which was considerable as I am not used to taking surreptitious photos of employees behaving badly. I am able to get on a bus, not drive, watch a movie, relax and even login to their free wi-fi. They drop me off right at my terminal and get my bags onto the curb. Free WiFi is a plus for business travelers that can get a few hours work on the way to their destination. Drivers are always courteous and pleasant. Taking Concord Coach Lines to Logan/south Station is generally a hassle-free and affordable experience; I take it once a week to South Station for work. Long-term parking is plentiful and conveniently located only a two-minute walk from the terminal - and only $4/day. There is also an automated ticket validating kiosk that takes seconds to pay upon your return (keep your parking ticket on you!) For frequent commuters to Boston, there are a couple different options. Make sure you first look at the posted fares listed through megabus.com; 90% of the time this is going to be your least expensive option. If you have the luxury of knowing your schedule up to 45 days in advance, you can get fares as little as $1 each way - if you're the first person to buy a ticket on the route. You can also get commuter booklets: 10 one-way tickets to or from either South Station ($125) or Logan ($155) at a sharply discounted rate; not even factoring in wear and tear on my car, each ticket works out to be less than the cost of gas and tolls, so it's actually more cost effective to take the bus over driving. Plus, everyone loves a chauffeur, right? The only caveat to buying the commuter ticket booklet is that you need to use the 10 Portland-S. Station tickets within one month and the Portland-Logan Airport tickets within 45 days. The bus driver accepts Logan tickets to South station (but not vice versa). They also taken my tickets after their expiry date. There are a few downsides to riding the bus: 1. My biggest pet peeve is the spotty, sometimes non-existent wifi. If you advertise that you offer free wifi and (I imagine) factor it in to the cost of your fare, then please make it reliable. I would love to catch up on work or stream Netflix if I had the option. 2. What's up with the 9:25am SS arrival time? Don't you realize that most of the business world (myself included) still operates around a 9-5 schedule? I'll bet if you offered a bus route with an 8:30am arrival time you would double or triple your normal morning ticket sales. Give it a shot and see what happens! 3. While the departure times are fairly reliable, there have been a few times on recent trips that the bus has left 3-5 minutes late. Not a huge deal, unless you're already arriving late to work because of the above-mentioned 9:25am arrival time. 4. It's a bus. Which means commuters ride alongside all the pedestrian folks who rely on bus transportation to get anywhere. While almost all fellow passengers are fine, I've occasionally had horribly-smelling creepy dudes sit next to me. I think we've all played that passenger roulette game in our heads when we see a sketchy person board the bus 15 seconds before the scheduled departure time and do everything within our means to make the adjoining vacant seat as unwelcoming as possible. I hope I'VE never been that sketchy guy! 5. On the return trip to Portland from South Station, the bus you board usually comes directly from picking up passengers at Logan. If an unusually large number of passengers is picked up at Logan, there's a chance you may not get a seat. It's first come first served, so be sure to arrive at SS and get in line for the bus about 30 min before your departure time to minimize the risk - especially on trips leaving SS in the evening. Despite its shortcomings, CCL is still a pleasant, convenient and affordable way to get to Boston. read more
