    The plaque for Bruun Idun.

Bruun Idun is the latest Thomas Dambo troll that I went to go see a short time ago. This troll is located in Lincoln Park in the West Seattle neighborhood. It is facing the waterfront and if you are coming from the parking lot is a little bit more of a jaunt and hike compared to the others in the West Seattle neighborhood. You need to climb down and back up a ridge unless from what I am told you come up from the south where it's supposed to be less steep. But we however took a path to the north where it certainly was steep but manageable if you take your time. Bruun Idun itself was great like all of the Dambo trolls. Lots of offerings were left at the feet of the troll which mostly was shells but noticed the statue was sporting an anklet as well. The troll was beautiful with it's detail and position it was posing in making this troll stop well worthwhile and the waterfront is most certainly an extra bonus.

Bruun Idun is one of six trolls built by Thomas Dambo in the Pacific Northwest - Way of the Bird King series. This is his 124th creation. Located in Lincoln Park in West Seattle, there are two convenient parking lots to reach Bruun Idun. Lot #2 offers a paved walk to the troll, while Lot #1 walks through the woods. We opted for lot #2 for a paved walk because my allergies are going nuts, and I didn't want to walk through trees. The walk is short and pleasant. Finding the troll is easy; it is on Google maps and near the Coleman Pool (closed). We enjoyed a walk around the water on a beautiful sunny day. The crowds are very respectful of each other. We stood in a line to wait for our turn for photos. Bruun Idun is decorated with pieces made from primarily shells and bark, contributed from a Muckleshoot Tribe artist named John "Coyote" Halliday. Bruun Idun is playing a flute with a song for the orcas, per Thomas Dambo, the creator. A line of Dambo's poem is "She played for them the orca song, to ask them where they all had gone." Bruun Idun looks like a sweetheart, peacefully playing its flute. Love!

This is located in West Seattle at Lincoln Park off Fauntelroy. We parked in one of the parking lots, I think lot B or the lot closest to the ferry. We took an easy stroll down to the waterfront, walked towards Colman Pool, this art piece is just beyond the bathrooms. You'll probably see a small crowd taking photos, so that will also be your cue to let you know where it's at. Pretty cool looking art, bigger than I thought, nice placement where they put this sculpture and cool wood materials that it's made from. There's a little sign near it giving you some history. Only stopped here for about 10 mins then we were out, went for a long walk through the park afterwards. Overall, pretty cool to check out.

We have been enjoying the Dambo trolls around the Pacific Northwest over the past two to three weeks, and Bruun Idun is just as amazing and awe-inspiring as the others. The walk down from the parking lot, through the woods on the trail was nice and easy - all downhill, so be prepared for the uphill climb. We made our way past the Coleman Pool then to Bruun Idun, where the bunches of families awaited their time for pictures. The beach at Lincoln Park is directly in front of the troll, making for beautiful views looking out. Each troll has such a personality and is full of emotion, allowing you to take your time to study the intricacies and detailed carpentry, artistry, creativity.

Bruun Idun - Way of the Bird King is down by the shore. Great walk through Lincoln Park to see Bruun Idun. It's a lovely walk and nice park. There is a hike from the parking lot which includes a drop down to beach level. Put on a good pair of walking shoes and enjoy the walk. FYI Coming back up the steep incline might be a little bit difficult for anyone with health issues. Don't let the walk scare you off visiting, it's worth it!! Lots of friendly people politely taking turns having a picture taken--and always offers by strangers to "take the picture so you can be in it too." This was the first troll we have seen in Washington. Love seeing Thomas Dambo's work. Worth a visit!

Great opportunity for a family walk (ADA accesible) Lincoln Park Parking lot is just a few minutes away. Easy access to the beach and the troll. Bruun Idun - Way of the Bird King is part of a family of trolls around the PNW (the others are in Vashon island, Bainbridge island, Issaquah WA, Nordic museum and Oregon) Bruun is playing an enormous flute to call the orcas. Nice walk along the beach. The troll fits right in; it looks like something from a fairy tale or movie. (Or from Where the Wild Things Are)

I wanted to specifically see the Matt and Ben show and saw on a poster that it was being performed at ArtsWest, a venue I had never been to before. But what a treasure this was! Located in the Junction neighborhood in West Seattle, it's on the main drag where many of the businesses are, so street parking is your jam here. We came to see a show here on a Sunday afternoon and were told that when we came 15 minutes early, we could hang out or just show up right when the show is to start. It's nice to know that you don't have to be here early like at most places. It's not a huge space for performing arts, as it's on the smaller size. But that really just adds to its charm. I imagine that many people who visit here are frequent flyers, making this place much more of a gem. They do have a refreshments area right when you enter the building, where they serve alcohol, snacks and coffee and tea. The play was a lot of fun, lots of laughs from the crowd and even the actors, and since it's an intimate space, even if you sit furthest away from the stage, you'll easily be able to see the performance. I'd recommend getting tickets ahead of time for a show. When we came, every seat was taken. For the play we saw on a Sunday afternoon, in the front row in the center section, it was about $45, which you can purchase online. I'd be interested to see what future shows they have here as I'm so glad to have discovered this treasured community space.

I was happy that the theater was willing to approach a bold topic and the audience appeared to enjoy it thoroughly. Every seat in the theater has a great vantage point and tickets prices are very reasonable.
