I am so pleased with the new hub of bars, restaurants and cafés that have opened up in my stomping ground over the past 5years. There used to be nothing out here! This one tops the cafe scene in my book. Friendly service, good food at a reasonable price point and you can bring the dog I have heard you can hire it out at night for private functions too which is a great addition to the line up. read more
Apparently the cafe is under new ownership. This explained a lot of my last trip here. This little gem is one of my favourite spots to stop when we're home visiting. It's adorable, tucked away beside the beach house across from Half Moon Bay and decorated with a rustic marina vibe. Distressed wood, lots of blue, lots of white..Everything I love (insert heart eyed emoji here). I have always loved the flat whites here, and so after a workout the other day this was top on my priority list. We waited about 15 minutes to get our flat whites which was a bit frustrating, but I thought "ah, worth the wait!" When we finally got them, they were way too hot, the espresso was sulfury and the milk had clearly just been dumped in. No latte art, which I've become accustomed to at this spot. Bit of a bummer. My other favourite part of my visits here is that your coffees are always accompanied by a chocolate fush or a strawberry mallow. Alas...No more. Hopefully they're just working out some kinks and things will get back to their normal seamless ways - or perhaps everyone was just having an off day. Either way, I'll try again and fingers crossed hope for the best. Otherwise I think we'll be making the drive to apothecary instead. read more

I have been a few times for special dinner events. Both times it was outstanding and so much more than I expected from a neighbourhood restaurant! Dinner was delicious! I went for a degustation night (which is on every 2 months or so) and the food was yummy and well presented. Think crispy pork belly and triple chocolate mousse! Yum! Service was also really good, staff were fantastic when it came to helping me with my newborn and getting hot food :) They also have a cafe during the day, always great food :) read more

Well I live local and this place was really good before, however under new ownership it's lost a star. The food is still good quality, but they have cut down on the amount of lux items in your dish, such as salmon or bacon. Which now makes it overpriced. For example: I had the salmon bagel and I got two and a half strips of salmon. It wasn't enough to cover one bagel, $14. My wife had the eggs benny which was pretty good, however only a tiny tiny portion of bacon on each. I mean it was really really small. So since the new ownership they are obviously trying to cut back on expense. Shame because it was awesome. On the upside the coffee was good and the service seems to be just as good. Friendly. Just a shame about the rip that it's become. I don't think I'll be going back again which makes me sad as being a local, I'd love a place close by that I can go back to time and time again. read more
