Eggs Benedict with bacon on sourdough was amazing. Porridge came with warmed cream and was very tasty. Highly recommend this spot.

This is one of my Newmarket favourites, the coffee is very good, enough said really. Teed St Larder use Three Beans and which give the coffee a strong almost chocolatey flavour. There aren't many places that make a proper long black but Teedy does, water on the side not in the cup, that is sacrilege, you dilute the caffeine content. The space is cool too, big and airy with plenty of seats and if you don't mind pigeons there is outdoor seating too. Inside the crates for tables are pretty cool and add to the relaxed vibe. Teed Street Larder is one of those places you can stay a while, order a coffee or two and just chill out. Easily also one of the best places to get a double shot of the good stuff. read more

I am finding it increasingly difficult to stay away from the tarts at this place. For years I had the best intention to try their food, only to end up deciding to spend my calories on a tart and a coffee. The coffee is delicious here. For the newbies I would definitly recommend the lemon and rhubab tarts. The layering of crisp pastry casing and lush cream patisserie (if you can see the vanilla beans you are in great hands indeed) is balanced with the sourness of lemon and rhubab! Bon TSL lends itself to modern industrial, and while this can be invigorating, it can get a little loud. Beware if you have a sensetive set of ears. Why not 5 stars...well that is surly coming once I can get past their pastries. Yum! read more

It was my first time going to this place & it was a stinking hot day & my lasting impression was that there were too many flies & inside there were sparrows & bird dirt in the light fixtures. I had the pork belly sandwich with kimchi. The thing is I think they forgot the kimchi. Because it had no crunch, no spice, but & I will say this this.... The pork was sensational. Properly gooey, delicious and flavourful. The bread was slightly stale or maybe it was the style of the bun. Anyway I might be back, I found out my friend moved here from the Turkish cafe & for the coffee drinkers.... She is an awesome barista. read more

Sorry, but, I have to disagree with the hype around Teed Street Larder... Frankly, I'm unimpressed. Here my rundown: + Food is hit or miss: the scones = yum, brunch = decent (although lacking in the vegetarian category), lunch = average, smoothies/juices = small servings & overpriced. + Service is slow. A takeaway coffee at prime time will probably set you back around 15-20 minutes, in my experience. + ...and speaking of coffee, I thought this could possibly be their 'saving grace' but alas, no. They use Three Beans which is absolutely high quality butttt it doesn't quite matter if the barista skills aren't up to par. The numerous coffees I've ordered here were weak and lukewarm (note: their standard size only includes one shot of espresso). WOMP. They have a nice outdoor seating area and plenty of space inside too, but...that's not enough to get me back here anytime soon. read more

Hmmm - I can't really see what all the fuss is about with this place. Called in for a late lunch but was very confused about what sort of meals this cafe actually had to offer. There are blackboard writings on the wall behind the counter but I could not really see a definitive menu. The list of coffees available appeared to be down the other end from the cash register so I could not see well enough to make a choice and didn't want to lose my place in the queue. There were a few dry scones on the counter. The person on the till was not very helpful and appeared to want me to hurry so I just ordered a drink and decided to get something to eat later at a more user-friendly establishment. Unfortunately there was about a 12 minute wait for the coffee and the tiny cups were quite stained. Not nice. Since Newmarket has so many eateries I probably won't ever venture back to TSL. read more

I was looking forward to a warm yummy breakfast on this cold winters day, unfortunately we were served with mushy pancakes and uncooked mushrooms and raw haloumi. Seriously disappointed in this place, the service was really slow and the food was terrible. 2 stars for serious lack of quality. read more

I love this place - the food is great, the service happy and efficient. Yummy sandwiches which they will toast or you can have them fresh; an interesting and relatively healthy brunch and lunch menu; fresh juices; great coffee and delicious sweet treats. The only reason I haven't scored it a 5 is the presence of sparrows who insist on flying in from time to time to check out what might be left. Finally got to see what was in Teed Street Larder- and definitely want to come back. It was far more spacious that I thought with a long space inside with wooden tables and seats all around. Though if the sun is out, there is a few outside as well- which is where we were after I managed to nab the last one available. They have real great wall features with open crate boxes holding goods which I just adored. A row of big colorful ceiling shades near the counter. The cabinet selection was to the side of their blackboard menu with both sweet and savoury options in the 'ice cream scoop' fridge. Chose their Chicken and cheese sandwich which came with small beetroot shavings and green mound of salad. Got mine toasted and decided to get one of their water jugs available. Next time need to try their Three Beans coffee and something off their menu! read more

I hadn't been to Teed St Larder for a few years so when we wanted a brunch spot today in New Market we thought we'd give it a try. First thing I thought was that the ambience was just a bit tired. There was a feature wall painted in chalkboard paint with brand new crates stuck to the wall (used as shelving - boring). The art just didn't fit with that vibe (think abstract impression Mark Rothko). The whole place overall just looked really tired. Going to the restroom I also thought it was a bit ridiculous for a cafe of that size to have one stall. minor details, but every bit makes a difference in my book. I had the Eggs Benedict which was good, but not great. I guess the last time I had eggs benny was a Dear Jervios which blew me away. What was described on the menu was more fancy than what was actually on my plate (in my option). The white toast it came on was a bit blah. And why did they cut off the crust? Who knows. My partner had the lamb shoulder. That was really good! Great value for money I thought. Usually I struggle to fill him up when we go out (unless I buy two meals for him), but he seemed pretty satisfied after this meal. #thestruggleisreal The service was eh. The girl that waited on us was really funny and attentive at first, but then after we got our drinks I was nearly clawing at the table waiting for her to come back to take our food order (20 mins later I think). Hangry-ness comes on fast for me. Also, my tea cup was dirty with coffee splashes on the outside. My friend was nice enough to go up and swap it for a new one. Instead they just washed it off. Not a good look in my book. What happen? I few years ago I thought it was a really good cafe? You could step you game up Teed St Larder. read more

I agree with the other reviews. I expected too much to be honest but the coffee was terrible and the food was quite average. Got a ham and cheese brioche and the ham was cut into chunks, with bits of fat still on the ham. Ended up tasting quite gross to be honest! The coffee was weak and was very sweet (unsure what brand they use). Won't be coming here with other options nearby. In terms of service, the girls there are great so I feel a bit bad leaving a bad review - but the quality of the food and coffee was just so bad! read more

On a recent rare visit to Newmarket on cold wet day. My partner and I decided that we would like a coffee! We entered and ordered. Our drinks came quickly (flat white and hot chocolate). The flat white looked more like a cappuccino with the cup being over half 'froth' and was about a degree off being cold! The hot chocolate was the same, barely warm. Quite disappointing. We are spoilt for choice when it comes to coffee spots in Auckland. But this is one we will discount in the future. Back to Ponsonby it is :-) read more
