I love walking at Millennium Park. I have been exercising here for many years. There are miles and…read moremiles of paths to explore. I enjoy mixing up my different routes to go different distances. There are several small lakes, one of which has a beach and other activities such as paddle boats. There are two different entrances to the park, which helps spread visitors out on really busy days like weekends. On the Secchia Meadows side, there is a nice pavillon where my friends had their wedding. I highly recommend Millennium Park for anyone who enjoys spending time outdoors, spotting creatures such as deer, turtles, muskrats, eagles, and more.

So when I stepped…read moreup to the check-in counter at Millennium Park Boat Rentals, the thoughts in my head were: Wow! It only costs $8 per hour to rent a kayak? Sweet! Wow! These people checking me in and telling me safety information are incredibly young! Will they be able to save me and my family if our kayaks flip over and we fall into the lake? Wow! What a beautiful day! But I wonder how often people fall into the lake. I also wonder how deep the lake is. I also wonder if it's possible to be trapped underwater if your kayak flips over. In the end, I decided to kick it on the sandy beach and wave at my family as they happily paddled on the lake. They had a great time kayaking. I had a great time not kayaking. Like Hot Chocolate says: Everyone's a winner, baby. Kayaks are either single-person or double, and we used one of each. There are very few instructions given, which was a little alarming to me. (You mean you just assume we know what we're doing?!) But fortunately, my family knew what they were doing, so they didn't need much instruction to get themselves out on the water. As you paddle around the lake, you pass the Millennium Park beach and splash pad, plus little islands here and there. There is about four miles of shoreline to explore. I was told that the lake was nice and calm, and that it was a pleasant time on the water. We rented kayaks, but Millennium Park Boat Rentals also offers canoes, paddle boats and stand-up paddle boards to rent. Keep in mind that rentals are seasonal -- this place is only open from Memorial Day-ish to Labor Day-ish.

We have never been paddle boarding before but have always wanted to try it. Kelly was so kind and patient when we initially inquired about the rental process. When we decided to go ahead and take the plunge and just do it making the appointment was very simple. The website was user friendly and easy to navigate. We showed up for our appointment and she had everything ready to go. She made sure that our life jackets were on properly and did not skip a single step. Her instructions and demonstrations on how to actually use the paddle board were easy to follow and very thorough. She also made sure that we were comfortable with our paddle boards before leaving. Out on the lake we got to see SO much wildlife, it was nothing like being in a motorized boat that's for sure. I have never considered myself athletic by any means and am far from being in shape but thanks to the equipment she provided as well as amazing instructions and answering all of my questions I can say I mastered the paddle board in no time! Action has had my lift cylinders for my Mastercraft boat life since last October and after…read moreattempting to install the lift last Tuesday May 18th and realizing the cylinders weren't repaired, we are now, 10 days later just before a holiday weekend, being notified we need new cylinders and maybe we can find a pair. This is unacceptable and below the credibility and reputation of Action Water Sports. The fact that Action didn't check the cylinders before my scheduled day of install is unprofessional. They also found a crack in a cross member of the lift and said to us "oh yeah, I think I remember that last year and didn't tell you." So we scrambled to find a portable welding service that day to weld the cross member to then find out about the cylinders leaking. There are no words on how disappointing we are in the quality of work performed from Action.

We recently ended our membership with this boat club after a series of concerning experiences…read more After years of having a positive experience, things went south this summer. On one outing where we had our grandson, we were sent out on the lake with an empty gas tank--a serious safety oversight. When we used the radio to let the dock know the gas panel was flashing an "empty" warning, we were told "half of the boats do not show the correct gas level." We had to cut our two hour reservation in half. On another outing with our two grandkids and were not shown where life vests were stored on a boat we had never used before, which left us feeling unprepared and vulnerable. The radio they had given us didn't work, so we had to boat back to the dock which cut our two hour reservation in half...again. When we brought these issues to the general manager's attention, we were met with dismissiveness rather than accountability. For a service that costs over $250/month and is only usable for a few short months in Michigan, we expected far better communication, safety protocols, and customer care. We love being on the water, but safety and integrity matter. We hope the club takes these concerns seriously and improves its onboarding and oversight practices for future members.

The instructor was very encouraging and accommodating to all levels though and to my surprise I did a lot of the yoga and was able to actually stand on the way back to shore.
