Took my 2012 Verado to Montcalm Marine for repair. Motor ran really rough. After a month and…read morethousands of dollars Montcalm Marine returned the boat to me in the same poor running condition. Montcalm stated I had bad gas and to run it out then it will work fine. Well after multiple tanks of gas and cleaner it still ran poorly. I kept them informed every month and then asked them to look at other things and they said to keep running gas through it then they ignored me. I took it to another dealer (Elk Rapids Marine, MI) and they fixed the issue in a half an hour. Boat runs great now. Montcalm then claimed they didn't have the proper program to fix a 2012 Verado. They should have been up front about that. Also they promised me on two occasions a demo ride in a new boat. They never came through with that either.

I paid by the hour, it was $20 for two hours which is not too shabby. I was also given an additional twenty minutes for free. They take both cash/card. Be sure to bring water as there is none available on site. Although I believe there are a few water fountains at Lansing Marketplace just adjacent to where the landing is. You sign a waiver, get your life vest, and head down to the water. You jump in your kayak, staff pushes you into the grand river, and you're off. You can opt to paddle upstream which is a great workout or you can float your way downstream whichever you prefer. Overall, cool little place to come and partake in outdoor activities. The grand river water is murky, and not the cleanest looking. However, do not let that deter you from having a good time.

When we arrived, the woman selling the tickets was genuinely friendly and interested in our dog. I love that this is a dog-friendly activity and that always gets extra bonus points with me. She asked our dog's name and answered all our questions and when we saw her hours later walking around the town she called out to our dog by name and said hello. It was very sweet and just one example of the warm welcoming spirit of this city. The cruise itself was very calm and slow. Just a smooth ride down the Cass River and back. There's lots of time to take in the scenery and you learn a lot. The gentleman narrating our tour was knowledgeable and had a great voice on the microphone. I actually thought it was a recording for the first few minutes, but he introduced himself and explained that his son was the boat captain. He shared the history of Frankenmuth and the surrounding area and when he tells you the popcorn they sell on board is the best you'll ever have, he's not lying. The popcorn was the surprise star of this cruise! For only $2 you get this bag of fresh salty delicious popcorn and they actually encourage you to toss some to the ducks on the river. It was really fun watching them Rush up to the boat and watching the children laughing and enjoying themselves. I love popcorn though so unfortunately the ducks had to share with me because it was definitely the best $2 popcorn I've ever had! This is a must if you're in Frankenmuth and I'm so glad we got to experience it. We had such a nice time that we bought some souvenirs on our way off the boat, including a little Captain's hat for my husband to match the one we had for our pup already. I like to bird watch and saw a cool Wood Ducks in the water, a tree swallow, and a swan! You can also stop by the water (very close to the shore) in the short hike at least 3 times and see some turtles. And there are many chipmunks and some other birds along the path. And there are a lot of people canoeing or kayaking on the water.

Over the last couple of years, they've had some fantastic art displays there as well. Very dog friendly, kid friendly, bike friendly, all of the above!
