That was followed by by a bad layout, particularly my fault. Weeks later and weeks and weeks, finally a doable plan. He was quick to accept a $7750.20 deposit for the work which was scheduled to start at an unspecified date. After I pushed him, he said he could start somewhere around August 17 which came and went without even a nail showing up on the job. Now, as far as payment and money goes, this is what I was able to look up on the Internet.: Payment Concern I paid Apex Home Pro $7,750.20 based on the document they provided. However, the document itself clearly states that it was "an estimate only and does not constitute a binding contract" and that a formal HICPA-compliant contract would be provided before work began. Despite this, the estimate called for the $7,750.20 deposit to be paid at signing. Based on my understanding of Pennsylvania's Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act, I believe accepting that payment before a compliant home-improvement contract was executed was improper. As of today, 19 August, he has not lifted a finger to do this job. His delays were constant every time I call him. He was in the process of getting something done or he had just finished getting something done as far as permits and paperwork went. He went on to tell me he found an electrician to upgrade my electrical service from 100 amp to 200 amp only to find out a day before the job was set to start, the electrician turned out not to have a license in the state of Pennsylvania. If my house burned down, if I blew off my arm, if my house exploded and damaged my neighbors house and the inspectors deemed the wiring was no good because it was not done according to Pennsylvania law and codes I would've been on the hook for all that money and he knew that. When I told him that would not work, he hired an electrician that said he could make it on a Saturday at some ungodly hour. Now it's bad enough that he basically stole $7750.20 from me but that room was supposed to be upgraded from a patio to a therapy room for a very seriously disabled 15 year-old young girl and right now that is not going to be happening. I don't know if I'll ever get the money back, but if my life depended on it, I would never hire this contractor again. If I knew anybody considering his services, I would not only strongly not recommended I would urge them to hire a five-year-olds. Mike has turned out to be incompetent unreliable and seems to have no sense of consciousness so if you're going to hire a contractor. Do yourself a favor and never ever. EVER EVER NEVER IN 1 MILLION YEARS CONSIDER APEX HOME PRO INCORPORATED. IT WAS THE SINGLE WORST DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE IN MY LIFE., By the way, Mike's full of shit in his response. I mean, do you expect a pompous ass like him to admit what he's done. Not looking forward to it, but we'll probably see him in court.

All the materials were picked and purchased by the business, they weren't custom in anyway. It's not my problem that you might have exceeded the time to return them, you pushed the job twice in favor of other jobs that ran long, then blamed covid for the 3rd push back. Covid or not, it shouldn't have took 3 tries to get this job done. We lost 3 weeks of vacation time taking off to be home for the project. He then tried to offload the materials on us saying he would deliver them to our home. I'm not a contractor, I don't want the materials. I want my money for a job not done. Then we had to threaten legal action to get our money back because the business became extremely slow to not responsive for a week at a time. Mysteriously the 1st check was lost in the mail, still to this day hasn't made it to us so it makes me think it wasn't mailed. Called the BBB and PA attorney general's office after that. When we demanded tracking on a replacement check and again threatened legal action, that one magically made it to us. When we signed the contract we had days to give the deposit, yet it took him months to get us our money back. Buyer beware.

On pristine walls that had only been painted once and virgin wood floors that had been covered with…read morecarpet since the 50s, the paint job was sloppy (paint on woodwork; wall paint on the ceiling) and had to be redone. They subcontracted out the wooden floors, which they did and redid 3X before I booted them out, got out of the contract, and paid for what work was done. The floors were sanded down right to the nails in places, before I came onsite and saw what was done. To top it off, I had to rent a place to stay, because the work was completed over three weeks after the agreed upon completion date. The company owner was rude, to boot. I've never been so happy to end a relationship in my life!
