We were later than planned and realized we were going to arrive too late to find a restaurant open near our hotel so started looking for restaurants along the road to eat dinner at. The first restaurant we happened upon was Chez Hubert. While the outside of the restaurant didn't look like much, we were tired and a bit hungry after our day at the beaches so we decided to try it. We entered and the restaurant was mostly empty (it was around 9 PM on a Monday night) and the proprietress sat us down at a table and we perused the menu. The prices were very reasonable and had some interesting items. We each ordered a 3 course meal at 13-15 Euros apiece. We really were not expecting much. We ordered a bottle of Cotes du Rhone and chatted with the proprietress as we waited for our appetizers. When the appetizers came we were rather surprised. The plates were large and beautifully arranged and looked delicious. I had a smoked salmon blini, my wife a mozzarella and tomato salad, and Stephen had a gizzard salad. All were exquisite (see photos). The flavors were wonderful and perfectly matched, the presentation was perfect and...each of the items was just delicious. For the main course my wife had a Faux Filet, I had a Lamb Brochette flambéed in vodka and Stephen had duck breast. Again, everything was simply well beyond our expectations. Each of our meals were simply perfect. The desserts were wonderful as well, although we barely had room for them after the meal. All in all, our experience at Chez Hubert was the main highlight of our 2 week trip to France. A most unexpected of pleasures.

I have had the best Pierogi's there ever and I'm Polish so that should tell you a lot! I have also tried their Goulash and it was superb as well! Their deserts are also delicious and I have had both, crepe and the apple pie. Pricing is very affordable, both owners are very friendly and you can easily tell that food is their passion. I will definitely be back! :)

Dinner in Mont Saint-Michel, France…read more.. We just wanted a convenient restaurant near to our hotel after a 5-hour flight, 8 hour layover, 11-hour flight, 2-hour drive, sight-seeing, and another 3-hour drive. I don't remember having lunch! The first restaurant didn't take us because we didn't have a reservation. That's why we ended up at Le Pre Sale. It looked less crowded than the restaurant across the street. We just had to wait in the lounge for a table... about 15 minutes. Staff were polite and efficient. The restaurant was pleasantly decorated with color-coordinated carpets, chairs, paintings, etc. I had the lamb entrée. It was very tender and NOT gamey! The gravy really delicious with a light, buttery flavor. The scalloped potatoes were good, too! We appreciated the complementary bread basket! This was our first real meal in France together. It was enjoyable and memorable!

It felt very touristy, which makes sense. This felt like a hotel restaurant, that was fancy-adjacent, with high prices, typical French service, and OK but not exquisite food. Everything was good, nothing was great, and service (as expected) wasn't great. It felt like all the people in the closer hotels all reserved dinner at the same time and the place went from zero to packed in a half hour. I can't ding service when they can't control the volume of customers all at one time.
