First course: shrimp salad with apples and grapefruit, tuna taretare, and fish paté

It's extremely impressive how well Fleur de Sel handles their seafood. From start to finish, I was presented with plate after plate of freshly prepared shrimp and fish that not only had stunning presentation, but also impeccable taste. I can go on and on about how memorable my dining experience here was, but to keep this short and simple, I highly recommend this place for some quality Normandy seafood. Everything on the menu is prepared with attention, and you simply cannot go wrong with a meal here! Plus, the waitstaff is really SO accommodating. I came with two girls who are vegans, who constantly experience trouble feeling satisfied after a meal since France is not really what I'd call a "vegan-friendly" place to dine. However, Fleur de Sel was able to whip up an impromptu salad, pasta, and lemon sorbet for my vegan friends, and left them completely stuffed at the end! When a restaurant adds last-minute vegan additions to its menu, you know it's worth the trip! 5 stars!

Shortly a really good place to have a nice meal (fish of course) in Normandy. More in details I have to say that the location is also quite nice in a little busy village (at least was really busy when I was there also because of a street Sunday market). They offer different menus with different prices and, as usual, I picked the middle one. I was satisfied by the service and the food, only negative note the time I had to wait to be seated but I didn't have a reservation.

Great place! Sat outside and had the 3 course meal. I took a picture of that page of the menu. I chose the tomato appetizer and my husband had the oysters. They were delicious. We both had the fish of the day (Cod). It was cooked perfectly with a fabulous sauce with rice and a small serving of vegetables. We both had the apple tart. It was soooooo good. Great atmosphere and great food. If your headed to the beaches of Normandy this should be where you eat

It's a mix between produce and ingredient purveyors to prepared foods and flea market like items like clothes and wooden chairs. I enjoyed that they had live produce on hand like ducks and chickens for sale as well as many beautiful stalls filled with plants and flowers to take home. This market is on the quieter side but is still fairly bustling. We ended up purchasing a rotisserie chicken, local cheese, an apple tart and Provence herb rubbed salami for a picnic in the car. For those on the hunt for seafood, you won't be disappointed. Overall, you'll probably find all you're looking for but the atmosphere and loveliness isn't there so much. I would estimate that there were between 50-60 vendors.

First stop was a liquor stand, got to sample and buy Apple Cider and Apple Brandy (Calvados), also bought a Pear Wine, the wines were 13 Euro each.  All local stuff. Next I found a stand with some Cannelle, my heart skipped a beat because this was on my France list, I bought 6 for 5 Euro, 3 almond and 3 vanilla.  They were the best Cannelle I have ever had, much softer than ones in the past, such a treasure found. Crepe stand had ham and cheese as well as the chocolate, made fast and sold cheap.  The lady in front of me also bought about 2 inches stack of just fresh crepes, smart. Lastly, I hit up a Cheese stand where the guy let me sample a bunch of cheeses until I found a hard robust one that suited my taste. I saw lots of seafood that I wanted to try but hubby said not to chance eating raw stuff before our long Dday tour.  I was told that people in France like to eat seafood during the winter.  Too bad I missed out on the seafood fest.

What a great way to start our trip!…read more L'Omaha is a quaint restaurant perched near Omaha beach with vibrant colors, serene surroundings, stocked bar, and covered outdoor seating for those who would like a little sea breeze with a view. The staff is most gracious and eager to help you select the best dish for your taste and Americans are easily accommodated with English-speaking staff. This was the first restaurant we stopped to kick off our three-week adventure around the country. Unbeknownst to the L'Omaha crew, the burden of great first impressions weighed on their shoulders and they did not disappoint. I selected one of the few vegetarian dishes, which highlighted the agricultural acuity and quality standards of French cuisine. Our entire group of four, with varying degrees of tastes and expectations, all agreed this was one of the best stops on our entire trip.

(FYI: almost all restaurants around Omaha Beach area seem to close by 9, so do not rely on info here or online about operating hours--call if you will be late). They still had people on the patio and agreed to take our weary party in as the last table of the day. Our server, Rebecca, was terrific, and we had zero communication issues. Our food and drinks arrived promptly, and dinner was a wonderful success. I had the duck breast with honey sauce, and it was very good. Two of our party had the chicken with Normandy sauce and RAVED about the sauce. Contemplating a return tomorrow night after we complete our DDay travels in Normandy. Bon appetit!!
