I played from the forward tees which were around 4800 yards, but with marshes to hit over, that was certainly long enough. The course was in very good shape. Considering all the rain we've had and the number of marshes on the course, there were very few squishy holes. It's held up to the rain quite nicely. A couple of tee boxes were a little rough but overall, great shape. Carts had GPS which is nice for quick yardage. Staff was welcoming. Nice experience.

The tee boxes make you feel like your teeing off a mini green, the sand is exactly what you want, the greens are extremely well maintained, the fairways make you feel like your hitting off a longer green, the scenery is beautiful, and the different distances make for a fun challenge. The clubhouse is also fantastic, and the staff are super helpful. Driving is beautiful with a view of the lake, iron range and putting green are also super nice. 10/10 would definitely recommend

The track plays like your typical muni course with muni conditions - the greens are small, the fairways are not as nice as other western courses like Pebble Creek. It is a good course to walk (except if it is muddy in the "forest" that you walk through between a few holes. It was a warm day and there was not one jug of water on the course - and no beverage cart. The clubhouse is older and lacks some of the amenities of other courses. Play was on the fast side which is good - it is mostly flat and straight. Number 12 is a cool par 3 hole requiring a 140 yard carry over wetlands and a precision hit on a well guarded green. Also - the price was right. It is one of the few options in the area for locals but probably not a destination course from the Twin Cities.

It was the perfect setting, we were able to have our ceremony outside with the beautiful fall leaves as our backdrop, the cocktail hour was on there amazing deck overlooking the scenic golf course. And the reception was in a beautiful room just off of the deck allowing easy access to fresh air. They have bar service and delicious food choices. In the time leading up to the wedding, Abby was constantly checking in with us making sure we had everything we needed for our special day. When the wedding day came, everything was perfect. Everything was set up exactly how Abby and I had discussed. We had a brunch themed wedding and the food was absolutely delicious! The waitstaff and bartenders were exceptional. They anticipated the needs we were having but were never in the way. The weather was gorgeous! Abby suggested opening a door to the deck area so guests could be outside and inside. It was one of the best decisions we made for the night. Our guests were able to enjoy the first 72-degree spring day we were having in Minnesota with the beautiful views of the golf course in the background. The whole reception went off without a hitch! Our wedding day was perfect. My husband and I stopped looking at other venues options the second we found Burl Oaks. If you are looking for a place to have your wedding or event, stop. The signature hole is number 6 which is a par 3 that can play up to 235 yards. The course is very fair and in good condition. Management has made a lot of improvements. There is beer and a full bar in the clubhouse. Also great hot dogs from the local Knaus Meats. The staff here is very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend that you give it a try!
