COVID REVIEW!!! (and regular review too)…read more I love swimming, and so do my kids. And I'm willing to drive for a pool. Anoka Aquatic is one of the only pools in the metro area open to the public and HUGE props to their Covid protocols. Their website may not be updated. FB seems to be updated regularly. Originally they were going to sell season passes to residents only, but I guess they didnt sell as many as they thought, so there are online sales for anyone!! Up to 7 days before you want to swim, go to the Anoka "Open Swim" page and chose your tickets. They do frequently sell out. They are not refundable, but at $5.50 they are not a huge splurge in my budget. Print your tickets. When you arrive, your tickets will be scanned and SO WILL YOUR FACE. This includes a temperature check. This made me feel super good, but I know not everyone would want a scan of their face. Whatever. Today is not 2002 and we are not being freaked out by a weird Tom Cruise movie about facial recognition anymore. There are no chairs this year, so bring your own. The day we went was sold out, but felt reasonable in the crowd. In addition to the pool deck, there is a large grassy shady area where you can spread out (popular with parents of slightly older kids, good for anyone for spreading out for lunch) You can bring in a cooler for your lunch, but the concession stand is open. I think things are different on weekdays vs weekends, but on the day we visited they closed the pool from 3-4 pm to clean. We would have been allowed to re enter, and we certainly could have used this time to chill in the park right next to the pool. But we decided we had had enough. I thought the Covid logistics were very satisfying. Now on to the pool! This pool is not huge. But it as a sold pool, and worth $5.50. Large areas of shallow, and the lifeguards were constantly reminding people to stay near the littles kids instead of letting them walk into deeper water. Cool. Theres a lily pad crossing that my 8 and 12 year old liked. A diving board! And a climbing wall! There is a waterslide which is fun, but not as fun as the one are my preferred community pool. I suggest going down sitting up, bc the bumps can be brutal on your back vs your butt. The lifeguards totally made my 8 year old do a swim check, which I think is cool. The deep area is not huge either, but enough room to hang out for a bit and my kids and I loved being in deep pool water, which is always a treat but especially this summer.

So after hunting for a pool that would be open for myself and my grandkid. I found out that the…read moreYmca is not taking walk-ins from out of the area. You cannot buy a day pass anymore. How is one supposed to even think about joining?

Webber Natural Swimming Pool is a refreshing, eco-friendly gem tucked into Minneapolis! I had the…read moreopportunity to check it out on Saturday around 2pm with my bestie who lives near here. The pool is free to use and open from 1:00pm to 7:00pm, Tuesday through Sunday (closed Mondays). When you arrive, staff will check your bags and ask if it's your first time--just part of their safety and welcome process. The pool area includes shallow zones for kids, lap lanes, and a grassy space for lounging. Be sure to bring a towel or chair for seating. There are lockers available, but they don't lock, so it's best to bring only what you need. A few helpful tips: 1) 10-15 minute safety breaks happen every hour, so be prepared for short pauses in swimming. 2) No food is allowed inside the fenced pool area, but there's space just outside to picnic or snack. However, when I was there, I spotted a food truck (ice cream!) near the street (perfect on a hot day!). 3) There's also a playground and tennis courts nearby. 4) Restrooms and changing areas available onsite. It was a refreshing spot for a dip on Saturday!

Absolutely, hands-down the most beautiful swimming experience in the twin cities. I am obsessed…read morewith Webber Pool and can never wait to get back to it again. My kids love the aquamarine, pristine water - it is clean but NATURAL, and never "gunky" like how lakes can be in the summer. The adjacent water treatment "ponds" are full of lilypads, frogs, and cattails, and lots of other fauna. Get to Webber ASAP!

We have been here twice now, and both times my son and I had a blast !! It is super affordable,…read moreright next to the St. Paul police station- (so it feels very safe), plenty of parking, room to do different activities in separate pools, and did I mention the glizzys at the snack bar?! Only $8 for adults and kids under 2 years old are free! There is a couple mandatory 25 min breaks, but it's a good time to grab a bite to eat. The splash pad stays open if you get too hot or for it the little ones that can't sit still for very long! (Like my son lol). Come early if you want a foldable chair for sun bathing, the place fills up very quick, but there's always usually some room in the back grassy area for you to lay down a towel and cozy up with a good book. If you get hungry, run to the snack bar and they've got multiple options for hot dog toppings and even a meal deal with chips and a drink! The staff are always so kind and they also have life jacket rentals for FREE! (with admission) We will absolutely be spending more hot summer days here!

Dear Municipal Pool,…read more Thank you. I love you. See you next year. XOXO, Katherine B What is it that you want from your public pool? I want a fairly cheap entry fee and lots of seating and a decent sized pool. That's all. Highland has this, and more! Parking, shade, a decent bathroom and concessions. You can bring your own food in. Plenty of space for the little ones to play in the two small pools/splash pads. A good diving board for the bigger kids. (The drop slides aren't really drop slides per se, and they are best for shorter kids) A big water slide...that's truly only ok but who cares. A HUGE POOL. With a HUGE DEEP END. No lifejackets in the deep end, and still a large area where your tweens+ can easily touch. Bring a pool friendly throwing item. (no nerf, just light weight stuff that won't hurt if you get bonked. The lifeguards will tell you)
