This is hands-down the best souvenir shop in Old Colorado. We have been in twice and will visit every time we are in the area. The owner is so friendly and is also originally from the same area as we are, so that was a bonus. The store is not crammed full of stuff like some of the others on the strip but instead offers a pleasant shopping experience. In honor of Territory Days coming back to Old Colorado City to officially kick off summer in the Springs, I wanted to introduce you to this lovely small biz that will be right smack dab in the middle of all the festivities. A blend of fun shopping, rich history and of course all the hot sauce you could ever want to taste, it's a one of a kind shop that you won't find anywhere else. The kid and I wandered in here several weeks ago looking for elk antlers (which are natural, wonderful dog chews btw) and were completely charmed both by the shop and the service we received. Buffalo Ridge boasts souvenirs and trinkets that range in price (YES I Google spell checked that word...), clothing and homemade merchandise, and owner Cindy and her family have an unlimited hot sauce bar that lets you try every hot sauce known to man as long as you can take the heat (or, you know, get out of her kitchen). We had a lot of fun, found we have a new favorite hot sauce, picked up a few "Colorado" shirts for out of town family and the 7 year old even scored his first pocket knife because they actually had his name engraved on it. I was on my first visit ever to Colorado Springs and visited old town Colorad City when my wife and I stumbled into the Buffalo Ridge Trading Post looking for an ice cold beverage. What we did not realize is that we also walked into a hotbed of pepper tasting. Hidden behind the Colorado clothing and mountain-related items a Chile pepper tasting counter and a wide range of tasting options waits to be discovered. This is the first I had ever seen of this kind of offering and their execution is tasteful and effective (kudos to Doug for leveraging his daughter's skills on the decorations). I spent some time discussing the store with the owner, Doug Manyik, and he was super friendly and full of tasting information. Found this place today while "just strolling" around Colorado City. I was drawn in the by assortment of hot sauce they were displaying in the window. I expected to find a hot sauce connoisseur's lair, but I had no clue their selection would be so comprehensive (even if they didn't have the one obscure bottle I was hoping to find). Mrs. Manyik was both charming and helpful. The selection of fudge was intriguing too. Butterfinger, PB&J, red pepper and chocolate mint were some of the varieties that caught my attention, but what's most impressive; it's homemade. My understanding is that they'll sample any of their hot sauces or fudges to you, but don't leave without supporting this small business in some way. And just in case, they had a small selection of very cold drinks, nothing too mundane either (try "Lemmy's sparkling lemonade" to take the burn away). I would never go out of my way to write a positive review, but this place really made an impression. Thanks, guys. It's refreshing to see something so unique for a change. read more

Going from store to store in old Colorado city not one single store or shop stood out like this one. We went inside expecting the norm for a touristy shop, but were blown away when greeted by a wall off hot sauces, all rated and labeled 1-10. This was like heaven to me, plus she came over and let us try like 500 different sauces with chips. It was the best experience I had with one of those shops. She shared our excitement as we continued to try different hot sauces which made the experience all the more memorable.
