My wife and I are staying in Dover waiting for a cruise. We wanted some place to get a drink and…read moresome "pub grub". The Marine Court is located in the Best Western Hotel along the waterfront. It is part of the Waterloo Crescent, the only part of the waterfront not bombed to pieces during WW II. The bar and restaurant are comfortable, clean and have a nice view of the waterfront. The staff are friendly and helpful. My wife and I sat in the bar. I ordered a delicious BLT- £6. It came with a load of vegie crisps and a nice salad. My wife raved about her grilled 3 cheese sandwich- £5. It came with a salad and french fries. The drinks were good, the food excellent and the service personalized. I can definately recommend the Marine Court.

Since the Premier Inn doesn't do meals, this is convenient if you want somewhere for a beer, a quick bite or a more leisurely meal. And, if you want a sea view, you'll get it, if you choose your table carefully. We found the meals reasonably priced they're even more reasonable on weekdays, and found nothing about them to complain about; although I found the chili con carne a little mild, that's a personal thing. On the occasion we just wanted a sandwich, we found the bacon, lettuce and tomato baguette a crusty delight, although, on this day, the service was a little slow. But, that was to be expected. The place was crowded, for the British Open was being played at nearby Sandwich. And, they did bring my pint of 'Spitfire' in a reasonable time.

Nestled off one of the main streets, this small establishment packs a big punch with traditional decor and a tasty afternoon tea menu. Everything from the service to the food and tea were delicious and served for a great pick me up in the middle of touring the town for the day.

We decided that we were long overdue to go back as it's been two years and we were in the area. We'd also heard that the Cobbles is under new management. But don't worry, it's exactly the same! We were welcomed at the door by the new owners who showed us to a table and we proceeded to order loads of food! We decided to go in before the lunchtime rush (11ish) and were the only people there for a good 30 minutes! I had coffee, a cheese scone (you've got to have the cheese scones, they are delicious!), a jacket potato with beans, and then a piece of coffee cake for dessert. Elle had gunpowder tea, a cheese scone (gotta have one! - not gluten free though) a gluten free toasted ham and cheese sandwich and some gluten free chocolate cake! Everything was delicious, the service was excellent, the waiting staff were polite, friendly and helpful. We sat with the sun shining through the door, with little sparrows, robins and other little birds flying up to the door and looking back at us. It was a really wonderful start to a day and I can't recommend them highly enough, they never disappoint and everything is exactly the same as they had been when we last visited. Ate everything before I thought about photographs lol....Can't wait to visit again.....
