The food was excellent both nights including wild boar terrine, cassoulet of escargot & cockles; pork cheeks & a cod dish. Dessert didn't disappoint either. Marie, the proprietress/server, was more than accommodating & made us feel at home. Easily our best meals of our 3 week vacation & one of the most reasonably priced.

Located A few yards off the road, you could make the mistake to drive just by, thinking you're just going by another small chateau left from the grandiose days when French royalty lived in this area around Tours. A small sign on the side of the road is the only clue that you're about to have a great meal. The food is magnificently served. A short, but very good wine list from the Tours region and beyond is presented to accompany your meal. The service is wonderful and English speaking. Next time you're in the area, turn on your GPS and don't drive-by.

I was worried that the proximity to the highway might tarnish the atmosphere but it did not. We dined al fresco in a lovely backyard patio and it felt like we were tucked discreetly into the French countryside. The atmosphere was certainly not spoiled. Neither was the food. It was delightful. I started with a potted calf's head. It was one of the best examples of a headcheese that I can recall. My wife started the evening in unorthodox fashion with a cheese plate. The cheeses were superb. For my main course I had sweetbreads vol-au-vent. They were cooked marvelously and the sauce (morel mushrooms were the strongest component) was outstanding. For dessert we had a caramel gaufre that was very good. The wine list was reasonable and featured, understandably, wines from the Loire. It was an outstanding meal in a placid setting with impeccable service. La Roche Le Roy deserves its star.

The pork chop was out of this world and the Brioche pain Perdue for desert was out of this world. The only complaint is that this place is CLOSED the next two days and I really wanted to come back.

I walked in (only 1 for dinner) on a Thursday evening. Came back on Saturday and they are booked with reservations. I'm going to return/wait - it's that good! I had the carpaccio for entree (appetizer in France) and it was delicioux. For my dinner the scallops. They were cooked perfectly and served in a buerr blanc sauce, with vegetables and their house potatoes- a gratin in a small causolet tgat seems to come with all dinners. It was charming inside, made to look like a courtyard in an Italian village, and we enjoyed the ambiance. Unfortunately, the food wasn't that great. Maybe it's just what we ordered (pasta) but our dishes were bland and uninteresting. It seems that pizza is the popular thing there, as most tables around us were having that. So if we were to go there again, we'd try the pizza. Other than the food, our server was very friendly and spoke English, and the other servers were nice and helpful.
