I love Build-A-Bear!! I remember visiting BAB as a kid and it was always such a special experience. So when I became a mom, I knew I would take my child to enjoy the magical experience as well. So when I learned that they now offer 'pay your age' birthday specials, I wanted to be sure that we visited to celebrate his 1st birthday. Before we visited I called to be sure that everything was in working condition after we tried to visit another location and their stuffer was down. :( Lucky us, I was assured that all was well at the Arbor Place location. When we arrived at the mall, I loved that I knew we were in the right spot thanks to the little bears adorning the hallway wall. When we entered, there were about 3 other families inside and employees were busy helping everyone make their bears. We were quickly greeted by Tracey who was the sweetest person ever. She explained the process to us (since it's been over 2 decades since I had been there), and prepared a sticker for our little one as well as a birthday bear crown. She even sang him a little song!! He liked her a lot. :) After his birthday song, we went about stuffing the bear, adding his heart and we even recorded a sweet message for our little one. After his bear was stuffed, we went about looking for outfits. They do offer a $25 birthday pack which includes a recording, a birthday shirt + pants and something else I forgot. I decided against that as the birthday fit would date the bear and I wanted it to be something Julian could have forever. There were so many cute options and themes such as Girl Scouts, Harry Potter and Easter fits to celebrate the upcoming holiday. They had an adorable Hawks uniform and a Braves jersey, but no Atlanta United! My partner loves all sports, but played soccer so that was what we hoped for at first. We decided to go with the Braves jersey and it was absolutely adorable on his little bear. All in all, such a fantastic experience at this location thanks to the the Build-A-Bear team - especially Tracey! Thank you for making my son's 1st birthday bear experience wonderful. read more

It was a very fun experience and my especially the birthday money save I would definitely recommend this business. It is the only one I've ever went to. I've been here before, but it is still amazing and it has always been. And I can't even begin to speak how good the service was. They were so nice and talked had a conversation with you. And don't get me started how big the selection of bears is they have movie characters they have old Time bears. They have a whole bunch of ones so I would suggest going. read more

Bought build a bear online for a friend. Website says they close at 9pm. She closed at 8pm. All I needed was it stuffed cause I selected the wrong option online. She not only was rude about it but tried to tell me I lied about the time on the website. Rude customer service and poor website information. Go somewhere else if ya want a build a bear. read more

My fiancee and I first stopped in last Wednesday when we were checking out Arbor Place for the first time since we recently relocated to Atlanta. We are also expecting our first child and she is just about 3 weeks from making her debut. When we saw the mall had a Build A Bear we took a quick look at what they had to offer and were absolutely thrilled when we saw they got the licensing to make Baby Yoda stuffies since we're obsessed with The Mandalorian. We knew right away we wanted one for our baby girl. We spoke to the associate in the store and asked her how much it would be and told her we would definitely be back on Friday to get one. She was very friendly so we felt good about it. Boy were we wrong. Friday comes and we return like we said we would and were greeted with maybe the rudest most inconsiderate retail associate I've ever encountered named Alicia. She was not the same girl we spoke to two days prior however I thought the concept of the store was the experience itself and that it didn't matter who helped you it would be pleasant and memorable because that's the Build A Bear business model. Wrong again. When we walked in and asked how we proceed Alicia rudely says, 'Well which one do you want?' We say we'll take the Baby Yoda one and then she walks over to the bin where they are kept and just snatches one out and rudely says, 'You just get one out of here'. Then she goes and gets the voice recorder that gets sewn into it and hands it to us without explaining how it even works and points us to the bathroom so we can have a quiet place to record our voices. Mind you this girl hadn't cracked a smile or been friendly to us yet(more on how that's significant later). We were left to figure out how the recorder works on our own and were successful so we kinda brushed that under the rug. After coming out of the bathroom we find her again and she takes the device from us still being totally unfriendly and goes to the machine that has the stuffing churning in it to stuff the bear. At this point we've been in the store for 15 minutes and she never once asked us who we were getting the toy for. After she finished stuffing the toy and sewing it up here's where things get weird. A white lady and from his appearance a boy who looked way too old to be getting a toy meant for babies and toddlers walked up to Alicia while she was finishing up our bear and spoke to her about what's involved with getting something made. The way she spoke to us compared to the way she spoke to this white family was like night and day. Almost immediately she goes into what I assumed would be the type of treatment we were going to receive. Her voice was super high pitched, she was showing interest in who the toy was going to be for, was laughing and being incredibly jovial. She treated them like Princess Diana and Little Lord Fauntleroy came in to buy a damn bear. And she did this right in front of us! Didn't even try to be slick about it. We were standing right there. My fiancee and I looked at each other like 'are you fu@king kidding me?!?!' We thought we got transported back to the 1950's when racism was more open and people were proud about it. At least today people try to hide it. NOT ALICIA! She lets you know just how she feels about you if you're not the right color when you come in. And again my fiancee is literally days away from giving birth and we wanted this to be something special so to have this individual go out of her way to make our experience unpleasant with her clearly racist attitude towards us is very unfortunate. And before anybody tries to make any excuses understand that there were plenty of opportunities for her to reverse course and she never did. I managed in retail for many years and I'm aware store surveillance video has no audio. But you don't need it to evaluate body language. She made sure that she was unfriendly to us throughout the entire process. But she clearly knows how to be friendly because she was friendly to a white patron so there's no excuse for the behavior. She didn't even want to explain to us how we complete the birth certificate. After we did that she didn't even show it to us she just rolled it up and stuffed it in the gift box she upsold us on. Oh yeah here's her great sales pitch...'Do you want it in a box or just throw it in a bag?' Really??? All I could do was shake my head. After we cashed out and we got back to the truck my fiancee was visibly hurt by how we were treated and got quite emotional about it, tears and all. Remember she's almost 9 months pregnant! Honestly I wasn't even going to write this but after thinking about it I determined there was no way I SHOULD NOT write this. It's too late for us to have a good first experience at Build A Bear but it's up to me to make sure no one else's chance at a good experience is ruined due to some idiot associate's racism. Next time we'll go to Phipps Plaza and try our luck there. Probably should've done that anyway. read more

Dear Alicia who works stuffing bears at build-a-bear workshop at Arbor Place Mall, My kids do in fact speak English even though you heard me talk to them in Spanish. I know you heard them talking IN ENGLISH about how excited they were to stuff their bears. I noticed the difference in how you treated us, a Hispanic family, and how you treated everyone else in the store. And I heard you say nothing when my kids thanked you in ENGLISH when their bears were ready. I also saw how you gave the kids behind us the little heart that goes inside and told them to kiss it and give it all their love when you didn't even say one sentence to my kids. You also didn't bother showing me how to use the voice recorder and got bothered with me when I couldn't get it right and left to help another customer, and you didn't tell us about the birth certificate. My kids are only 4 and 2 and didn't get the full experience they deserved and paid for because of you. And when I asked you why you treated my kids different, you straight up said it was because my kids didn't speak English. The manager Courtney was kind enough to give us 10% off our purchase and offered to redo the heart and stuffing for my boys but the experience was already ruined for us. Out of all the build a bears that I have been to this is the best they really believe in you loving your bear and doing the little saying with your heart before you put it in. Has a great choice of clothing items as well and staff is excellent not just one but all cause I have been several times and helped by afferent people. read more

Went today for the first time with my 8 year old and 6 year old. Not a bad experience. Staff was nice BUT it was our first time building a bear and no one was really giving much direction. We felt a little lost about the process. They kids were happy and love their bears and I'm sure everyone already knows this but WOW IT WAS A PRICEY VISIT!! Almost 120$ for 2 bears. This was our first time visiting Build-A-Bear workshop and it was wonderful. Lacy and Jess went over and beyond helping us build our first bear, which just so happen to have been a monkey. We are going to get a recording of the babies heart beat and have it inserted and give this to the baby when he is born. I am so excited, I was like the little ones in there buying their bears.
