My daughter was an extremely clingy and shy two-year-old and I honestly didn't know if she would make it through her first day of nursery school. Sue did a wonderful job helping us prepare for The Very First Day. She invited my daughter and me to stop by in July, before school started, to familiarize ourselves with the building. She welcomed my anxious phone calls over the summer and shared tips for how to help my daughter feel secure. That first year of school, the twos program, was the best thing we could have done for my daughter. She had a *wonderful* year and grew in so many ways: socially, verbally, creatively. Her second year, in the threes program, was just as rich, if not more so. The only challenging thing about Building Bridges was leaving it. If we hadn't moved away from the city after two years, we'd still be there! My daughter still talks about Building Bridges (and Miss Sue) fondly. Building Bridges checks all the boxes. The classrooms are cheerful and clean. The building is safe and secure. The teachers are superb. The directors are involved. And everyone I met there -- teachers, directors, other parents -- were so down to earth. That, to me, was what really set the school apart from the zillions I toured. read more

Our daughter started at Building Bridges in their 2's program and has been there for a year now, and we cannot speak highly enough of the school. The staff are absolutely fantastic and from day 1 we've always felt that they had exactly the approach to pre-school education that we were looking for. The application process was simple - no silly play-date interviews. And their approach combines everything preschool should be - helping children understand how to share and play with others, helping them becoming more independent and opening them up to the joy of learning. It is all delivered by wonderful, caring staff who provide an educational environment full of fun and wonder for the kids and a big dose of humor. We have been consistently impressed with the variety of topics covered in the curriculum; our daughter always comes home full of exciting tales of what she learned at school today and with lots of beautifully thought-out projects to show us. There is a comforting rhythm to each school day but plenty of scope for spontaneity and fun. Our child's teachers have a wonderful rapport with the group. A wonderful experience. We have put two children through Building Bridges and have nothing but glowing reports for the school, the leadership, the staff and the curriculum. Warm, caring, thoughtful teachers. Thorough, well thought through, appropriate and enjoyable lesson plans. Clear, communicative, strong and inspiring leadership... I honestly can not recommend this school enough. The classes are small which means the children get plenty of attention. Parents are given excellent opportunities to bond with the teachers too which means communication is constant and not reserved for the parent/teacher conferences. The children are given opportunities to bond within their classes but (if you stay for the extended day) they also have the opportunity to build relationships with other teachers and other students which is fantastic. My son is already writing and he's only three - I'd attribute this as much to the school as I would to his own character. Do not hesitate to send your children here. You won't regret it. I couldn't be happier but give a 'two thumbs up' recommendation for Building Bridges in Brooklyn Heights, NY. Our first son just started his second year with BB in the 3's program, after completing his first in the 2's plus a full month of summer camp. My wife and I are delighted with the school and the positive results we see in our son's learning and socialization. We are especially pleased with the kind and engaging teachers, the interesting/challenging curriculum as well the attention BB gives to helping groom the children to be good young student/participants inside and outside the classroom. I can't say enough about this wonderful school. Our older daughter went through both the 2s and 4s classroom and our younger daughter is currently in the 2s program. In 3 years, my wife and I have been extraordinarily impressed with the quality and commitment of the directors and teaching staff. Our children have come home each day excited, enthusiastic and happy as a result of their days at Building Bridges. The Directors, Susan and Jen, not only know each and every childs name , but they take the time to know the individual child and family members as well. And the PreK teachers Ms Lisa and Ms Nicole are two of the most wonderful, nurturing, creative and charismatic educators I've ever met. They truly love what they do and as a result the children they teach just adore them. The curriculum at this Preschool is educational, fun and engaging but also really helps to develop a child's socialization skills at a young age. Our son has just completed his second year at this terrific school and I don't have enough nice things to say about his school experience here. The teachers and directors go ABOVE and BEYOND to make this place magical. They always take special care to communicate anything of note that transpires during the school day. Our son is DELIGHTED to go to school...he's made terrific friends, has developed a love for books and letters, and truly enjoys the music and songs that he learns at BB. (He's always humming and singing a new tune that he's learned from school). He also brings home with the most amazing artwork and cooking projects--creative, developmentally appropriate and so fun. The teacher regularly communicates what the curriculum is and is easily accessible. Parents are invited into the classroom to read and do special projects, which I love. We have been thrilled to be a part of the Building Bridges community for two years. When going through the school tour process it is easy to get stressed out and caught up in everything. Building Bridges immediately put us at easy with their reinforcement that the main focus is about providing a warm, inviting environment for the children to get used to the idea of school, where they can make friends, learn and grow. The founders, Susan and Jennifer, are wonderful people. They do everything they can to personally connect with each student and family. Building Bridges is a magical place. My son has been there for the past 3 years and it has been so wonderful to see how he has grown socially and emotionally over this time. My son has spent the past school year with Building Bridges and is enrolled for next year. We have sent both our children to Building Bridges over the last four years and couldn't have asked for a better experience! The entire staff -- the leadership, the teachers -- are simply wonderful: very engaged, truly caring, and always so responsive. BB is a wonderful environment and community, and I feel so lucky that this was the place where our children first experienced school and learning. To boot, their tuition/costs are very competitive (slightly more affordable, in my experience) compared to other private programs in the vicinity; this gives them an edge since the quality of the education and the experience is nothing short of first-rate. I was so impressed by the friendliness of the teachers that I had to have my son go to this school. I think I might have drove them nuts with my constant questions! After almost a year there my son can not get enough of the school, classmates nor the teachers. (Neither can I) Apart from the infinite amount of activities they plan for the children, they truly excel at giving every child attention. My son tells me regularly how Mrs teacher X to teacher Y spent time with everyone going over there numbers, letters or whatever that days project is. The staff at Building Bridges is outstanding. We have our 4 yr old in their pre-K program. She is loving her school experience. She runs into the classroom and cries if she has a vacation. The teachers are devoted, nurturing, experienced and passionate about their work with the children. We have noticed her growth in her learning and how she enjoys school. We have enrolled her for the summer camp. I wished they had kindergarten in their school because I would sign my daughter up in a heart beat. Both of kids (ages 2 and 4) attend Building Bridges and we couldn't be happier. They are both so happy and excited to go to school everyday. Their teachers are kind, engaged, and knowledgeable. The administration is on top of everything and really supports parents and teachers. My 3 year old twins started at Building Bridges this year and it has been a great experience. We plan to send them for summer classes and enroll again next year. I have been continuously impressed with the creativity of the teachers and the way they engage the kids in fun activities and sneak in a alot of learning along the way. My kids come home with stories of nature walks, cooking muffins, where rain comes from science experiments, dance parties and special art projects for each holiday. A great pre-school in Brooklyn Hts. The principals bring a wonderful philosophy to pre-school learning - have fun but also focus on gentle learning. My daughter is in the 3s class and has had a wonderful year. It was easy to transition her to almost 5 days a week, 9am - 2.45pm, because the school is caring and nurturing. She has made great friends and when she is home from school on vacation often says that she misses Building Bridges! read more
