Cothren Plumbing and Construction did not perform in the way stated in our contract. The work was…read morehorribly done, there was damage to our home, and communication was inexcusable. 1) The floor - The floor was not shimmed so it was level before the install, and was not laid length wise down the room. The pattern is off on the floor so it doesn't look correct. The transition pieces I purchased at Home Depot that matches the floor were not utilized, and brass pieces were purchased by contractor and then charged to me. Because of the floor not being shimmed, there is a spot that cracks when walked over because the boards do not lay flat. 2) The trim - None of the corners were mitered, and it looks unprofessional. The trim is chunked in in some places, like above the main door, instead of being cut to fit. Alex said he was not able to finish the caulking and painting due to working too much and not spending time with his family. So I stated my husband could finish since I was put into an awkward situation, but we still had to pay the full $400 to install the trim when the entire job was not completed by Alex. The alcove was not trimmed in. The right window, behind the trim, has a giant gap that I can stick the entire side of my hand into. 3) The walls - The texture on the walls was horrible. It's super heavy in some places, and lighter in others. There is texture all over the windows, bedroom door, and into the bathroom because nothing was taped off beforehand. The paint looks splotchy in the sunlight. When I spoke with Alex, he said it might need another coat, which he never completed. Because nothing was taped off, some paint from the spray gun got on our ceiling. Alex touched it up with white paint, but since it was not the same color, we now have to paint the ceiling as well to have everything match. The back wall in the alcove was not prepped for texture and paint. You can still see glue from where the old paneling was attached, there are visible holes in the wall, and there are nails sticking out of the wall towards the bottom that were just textured and painted over. Paint was tracked through our laundry room and has ruined the floor in there. The Pullman in the bathroom is destroyed because nothing was taped off. He got texture/paint all over my antique perfume bottles from my grandmother that are now ruined. 4) Construction Items - All the sheets of drywall and our closet doors left out in the rain and weather and were destroyed. I was not asked what to do with them, and we now have to purchase new closet doors. Alex also left the hose running in our backyard for five+ hours when he used it to rinse off and then left to go purchase a truck. Alex and Natalia, after finally being able to get ahold of them after they blocked me on all social media and my phone number, refunded me 75% of the quoted price. This did NOT include materials.
