I started out with a capuchino which has been mybusuall go to for some time already. Great coffee shop. Get the Cafechata! My husband ordered it since he likes horchatas normally, and I normally don't, and we both really liked this one. We're back home from visiting Mexico City now and are still thinking about it... I also had the flat white which was just as expected and made well. I had read a lot of good things about this shop so I purchased a bag of beans too. This place came heavily recommended by a friend who grew up in CDMX, so my girlfriend and I thought we'd check it out when we went on a stroll. It's a small shop, but super quaint and has a nice outdoor seating arrangement. My girlfriend wasn't too sure what to order (I went with my standard cappuccino), so I randomly said the cafechata sounded interesting. Funny enough she absolutely loved her drink and there were times I thought about stealing her drink. The barista was also super kind to us. We had just landed 12 hrs before coming here, so it was one of the first places I had to test out my fading Spanish skills. Yet she was extremely patient and explained the drinks to us. We were just in Mexico City for a week, and we stayed just on the Plaza Rio de Janeiro. There are a lot of options for coffee in the area, and Buna was one of the ones we tried! My to go americano was good, and the service was really nice. The inside of the tiny little coffeeshop is really cool and modern, and there are some wonderful seats outside on the sidewalk that looked like a great place to relax with a coffee for a bit if I hadn't been on my way out for a day of exploring the city. The cafe itself is espresso focused although they have a drip coffee I didn't try. Flat white was extremely milky/creamy, arguably to its detriment as I was hoping for the coffee itself to come out a bit stronger. Foam was a bit dry as well. Service was at least very pleasant and welcoming, even for English speakers but not a cafe that I need to make my way back to again. read more

The 8oz americano here is fantastic. I wanted to visit other coffee places in the area but had to come back here a few more times because the coffee tastes so amazing. The almond croissant is also delicious. It has some kind of custard inside instead of almond paste, so that's a bit disappointing yet the custard tastes very good so I can't fault that decision. It's better than any of several pastries I got nearby at Panaderia Rosetta (not saying Rosetta's are bad, just that this almond croissant was even better). The baristas are nice and understand inglés. If you get it aqui they tell you to sit and they'll bring your order, so you pay later. One of the times I was here, the place next door was cleaning their section of the parklet patio with a power washer and sprayed us all with water and soap foam, so watch out for that. Also beware that a to-go cup is something like 10 or 12 oz, so your americano will be watered down compared to the porcelain cup you get if you sit. Once I handed them a 12oz travel mug for a to-go americano, and they filled it to the top with water instead of the proper amount for two shots of espresso. read more

Sour mocha served in a paper cup, even though I was sitting at an outside table. (There was no one else on the patio, so it isn't like they needed the table.) When I told the barista that the drink was sour, she claimed it was bitter from the dark chocolate. There's a distinct difference between sour and bitter: 100% this was sour. The espresso had likely gone off - especially as other reviewers mention it normally being high-quality. Atmosphere was nice with outdoor seating in a lovely, leafy part of Roma Norte, but there's no shortage of great coffeeshops in the area - for my peso, I'll try elsewhere next time. Great little coffee shop in the Colonia Roma neighborhood. I love their custom roasts and brought a lovely light roast back to California with me so I could savor the flavor a little bit longer, the girl at the counter recommended her favorite, Tun-Daja, which had a bright acidity and crisp tree fruit notes. I wish I would have brought a few more bags home. I've already ground and used most of the beans in my French Press. Guess I'll have to make another trip soon to stock up! read more

I was lucky enough to enjoy a performance of three musicians while enjoying my latte. For any vegans, lactose intolerant, or simply dairy adverse patrons there is macadamia milk available. Buna is usually a nice coffee shop, and you can probably find all kinds of methods you would want for you coffee but I came here for a special tasting dinner offered by the chef. It was 5-course menu. We started with tacos de chapulines, which is a local delicacy but not very appreciated by foreigners. I wouldn't say I love chapulines (grasshopper) but to be honest I believe it tastes like chili powder and salt. Second course was an onion soup , very delicious. Up next we had mushroom risotto and as a main course we could choose between chicken or fish. The whole menu was quite interesting with yummy combinations that only used locally selected products. I was not a big fan of the dessert (creme brulee with balsamic vinegar) but other than that it was a great time. I finished my meal I had a double espresso cortado and it was definitely among the best I had in the city. The ambience is clean and appropriate to study or work. I came here a couple of times on a recent trip to Mexico City for a proper cup of coffee. I found that ordering at the counter and sitting down was faster than waiting to be served. The mocha was really good, and not too sweet. I ordered the huevos rancheros, and my wife ordered the chilaquilles. We both enjoyed her dish more, since the huevos racheros weren't spicy enough for us. The presentation was really nice though. The church just up the block is really nice if you want to take a peek at it prior to grabbing a cup of coffee. read more

This place, like everywhere in the Roma/Condesa area, needs more reviews. Buna has all the elements to make it one of the best coffee joints in town. There's minimalist decor, pour over carafes, odd ball drinks. Surmise to say that it's an awesome place to get a mid evening pick-me up. I went for the Cafe Americano since I'm a sucker for pour over coffee. The pour over + a few sips of my girlfriend's shakerato made for a perfect jolt before going out on the town. All of the coffee is El RICO brand (from Costa Rica I believe) which means it has a dark roasty flavor with some floral hints. You can also buy some beans in the store to take home if you want. I wanted to try the food but they seem to only have food for breakfast and brunch. I'll have to stop by for breakfast next time, but the coffee here is definitely a must. read more

Third wave coffee in DF! Buna 42 is a cute coffee shop reminiscent of those found in the Bay Area. My husband ordered a cafechata, which is a blend of cold brew and horchata, while I got a cold brew with almond milk. Both drinks were 50 pesos each (~$3 USD) and were really tasty. You can tell that they know what they're doing here, measuring the water for pour overs and offering some great hard to find coffee drinks. read more
