So I came here to pick up a pistachio tart to go because I had already eaten my weight in food and still wanted to try it. This is a casual coffee shop that has sandwiches and baked goods and looked like a spot for studying or just hanging out. The cashier was super friendly and spoke English, which made things easier for me (recognizing my priviledge coming to another country and only having minimal and I mean minimal spanish language capabilities). The pistachio tart was great, the crust itself was light and very buttercookie-esque which made for a great bite itself. The pistachio cream wasn't overly sweet and there were tons of pistachios on top to provide textural contrast. This was one of, if not my favorite, pastry I had on my trip to CDMX. I was checking out Roma Norte which is a relatively new area for me. I've known about the neigborhood, but I never really passed too much time aroind here. I noticed that this cafe had a lot of people seated outsode so I figired that they must be doing something right. Even thoigh I wasn't really in the mood for coffee or an espresso this late in the day, I thought that a frappe would be a refreshing break from my long walk. On our first trip to Mexico City, we are staying in the Roma Norte area. On our first morning we found Tierra Garat and had coffee. The shop is a 3 minute walk from our apartment. We have been for coffee twice now and plan on a few more visits before we return back to California. Their coffees are delicious. We are going to try other drinks. He seemed annoyed that we were even there and since we were tourists who weren't familiar with the menu, he seemed more annoyed and rude as we asked questions. The waitress wasn't much better. When she failed to bring out an item we ordered, she didn't believe us and demanded to see the receipt. She went through it line by line and then admitted we had paid for the item. Tons of folks were spending a lazy weekend morning here with books and laptops in tow, so it's clearly a popular sentiment. My latte was also on point. Unlike other reviewers here, I found it sufficiently strong, and had no complaints. My friend just got a shot of espresso, and he was also impressed with its quality. We did not try any food, but the pastries did sound good! I asked for a CORTADO and the cashier clearly put in the order as Americano + Milk, which is NOT a freaking cortado and the order came out to be more expensive. I clarified three times and they insisted that it was a cortado. Uh, you gave me a brewed coffee and added some milk, it's not even made with espresso. I also paid for a pastry but she never bothered to give it to me before taking the next customer. The line was almost out the door because they were so slow and stupid. Trendy/wood-furnished coffee shop that was right next to our AirBNB, so I came down here most mornings and spent a bit of time reading and drinking their coffee (their drink-in mugs are these little beautifully textured ceramic things).
