It's very important here to ring ahead as capacity can fill up quickly and everyone is doing their part to stay safe still. We were greeted upon entering and our vax cards were asked for and our information was collected. That is current regulations and it's not a problem at all. We were asked if we'd like to enjoy any time in the bar first as we decided on our menu courses. We took the opportunity to relax from the day by the fire place and ordered a bottle of really nice NZ Savignon Blanc. The chef sent out an aperitif of leek tart and I nee then we'd made a wonderful choice for our meal. The bar was so traditional and inviting but just shortly after our order was put in they moved us over to the dining area. This area was also cozy and candle lit, with a real romantic warmth to it. I'd ordered the scallops for a starter and the sea bass for my main. My husband took on the duck foie gras and the dinner special which was a beef roast slow cooked to perfection. Our meal was Devine. The service polite and impeccable. We'd no room for dessert but we saw others diving into outrageously scrumptious looking sweets with their ports, teas and coffees. I'd recommend one meal here when you are visiting and if you live local, I have been told weekends are very busy and the restaurant tends to keep the menu the same. I believe it's worth the pampering and delicious food now and then. Be sure to call and pop in.

Only open since Easter 2012, it was opened so recently you can smell the newness when you walk in. It wasn't even listed on here until I added it! I've only visited The Stepping Stone, but no doubt it's definitely one of the best gastropubs in the area. The decor is very clean an modern and the staff are all really helpful and friendly. We came here for lunch on a rainy Tuesday afternoon and were surprised at the quality! From what I've tasted, soup and sandwiches definitely seem to be their strong point. Very tasty, a lot of work seems to go into everything. We had club sandwiches (delicious), prawn cocktail, soup and chicken wings, all well worth the money and great value too. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the coffee, made from an instant machine, it's not the best. However, from what I've tasted I can't wait to try dinner here and in the Bank Bistro. One way to judge a place is if the locals eat there or not, and here, they do. It was packed! One thing to note though, they do play a lot of Daniel O' Donnel, so if you're not a fan, maybe you'd better think twice. But still, its a hidden gem nonetheless.

Great friendly staff. A fantastic menu. The decor is lovely. It's some where I will for sure return…read morewithout a problem
