Really out of the ordinary Indian food. Amazing flavors and preparation, and just happens to be completely vegetarian and very vegan friendly without feeling deprived.

Best Indian street food we have had so far! We feel safe coming into this restaurant. Order and payment through your phone. Everything works seamlessly. We would definitely come back to this restaurant again.

Yep yep yep yep (yelp...) what a great decision it was to go here and kill an hour between trains. Basically you're talking about a fantastic craft beer bar just a stones throw away from the train station, incredibly central and incredibly busy on the Weds evening I popped in. Beer selection is awesome, but to go with it you have loads of Indian street food options which are perfect for snacking on if you want a light bite. The bhel puri was good (not the best I've had, a bit sweet and sticky if you ask me, I've had better as I like it drier), but the pocket size dosas were great and totally on point. Very excited to see them opening up a branch in Manchester very soon, I'll be going - often!

Went here with fellow yelper and good friend Josh and another friend of ours on a Friday evening. Bundobust is quite different to most eating places that I've been to in the UK in the sense that it is not a full fledged curry house, neither is it a fast food joint. This a very typical Indian street food restaurant where the dishes seemed pretty Bombay inspired in their preparation and presentation. The food tasted great and the portions were sized and priced such that you could try a few things before you felt you'd had enough without spending too much. It's located quite close to the train station and is definitely worth a visit. I will be going there next time I visit Leeds.

Great vegetarian/Indian street food. Im a big meat eater so the idea of a full veg meal put me off at first, but the food is fresh, delicious, filling (usually get 2-3 dishes), and great in value. I'd recommend to anyone, vegetarian or not. Also, a wide selection of craft beers on tap and craft gin/vodkas and cocktails. The restaurant itself is also very cool, urban/Indian decor on the inside.

Although we were visiting Leeds specifically for Leeds Feast @ Leeds Indie Food Fest, we wanted to follow Joey Tribbiani's lead and warm our stomachs up first. After a pit stop for a coffee at Friends of Ham, we headed round the corner to Bundobust for craft beer & Indian 'street food'. Considering how close it is to the train station and both Friends of Ham / The Station Tap, we were surprised to find only a few tables occupied with fellow beer & food lovers. This did change once the Mikkeller Running Club appeared after their 10k morning run, but it simply added to the atmosphere. We settled in a table by the window - perfect for people watching - and ordered two pints; I preferred the Bombay Dazzler 'Indian Whit' out of the two, a collaboration brew between Bundobust and Northern Monk Brew Co. Due to the food we were planning to consume later in the day, we shared three plates between us; the onion gobi bhaji bhaji, tarka dhal, and mushroom & paneer tikka. After a few drinks already (and recovering from the night before) I can't stress how perfect this meal was for us. The bhaji was crispy on the outside and had a delicious, dense potato & cauliflower middle, and the mushroom & paneer dotted with tikka sauce was a balance between health and spicy indulgence. The dhal was a stand out for me, with a real kick of spice and served with white rice. We were tempted to simply stay and order more but the street food of Leeds was calling. The cost, quality and atmosphere here are all a 5 star for me; hopefully it won't be too long before we can head back. I've heard excellent things about the okra fries...

Finally get to try this place!

Simply couldn't get enough of Bundo during our visit to Leeds - loved the venue, loved the choice of craft beer and LOVED the Indian street food-inspired menu! Two establishments combined their skills to come up with this mecca - the vegetarian Indian eatery Prashad in Leeds and The Sparrow pub in Bradford. I didn't think our large group would be able to be seated on a Saturday afternoon, but we waltzed in and to our joy/relief found large bench seating available so we plonked ourselves down. The menu contains about a dozen or so small dishes to choose from (prices from £2.50 to £6). I went for the Bundo Chaat and Biryani Bhaji Balls (the latter mainly because I liked the alliteration). You order your preferences at the bar and receive a number which you keep on your table. As there were a lot of us, the dishes just came out when they were ready, with those of us who waited last to order pining over every one that arrived. The two beers I went for were both knockouts - the Red Raspberry Rye from Buxton and Peanut Riot by Fierce Beer. I'd never had anything like either of them before; insanely good. To say that I'm full of anticipation for their Manchester restaurant opening soon near Piccadilly is a serious understatement!

Nice casual food place with great beer! Loved the vibe and decor of the place and staff were really friendly. My friend and I sat outside in the yard, which is practically covered overhead, but still feels outdoorsy, as small parts are left uncovered. Although do be aware, you can smoke in the yard, so bare that in mind if eating and you don't want to taste cigarette smoke. The menu is a bit like Indian tapas/street food. My friend and I shared 4 dishes between us and we felt it was plenty. We tried the okra fries, Punjabi kadhi, chole bhatura and bundo chaat. All the dishes were delicious, my favorite being the Punjabi Kadhi, which was dumplings (tasted like onion bhajis) in a warm yoghurt soup. You get 3 large dumplings, so it goes far. I also really liked the okra fries. The bundo chaat was a bit strange as it is served cold, so I probably wouldn't go for that again, but it still tasted great. Service was quick. You order and pay for your food at the bar, so when you are ready to go, it's convenient to leave quickly. I would recommend this place for drinks and some casual tasty nibbles.

Yes, yes and yes. Bundobust does beer, food and ambiance right, not too pretentious and with an owner who actually frequents his own establishment! A friend and I stopped by and ended up tasting all the beers - both still being indecisive we went for a flight of 1/3rds each. The mixed but and pea selection was great, if a little salty, but the bhel puri was spot on and went well with the coriander beer (and darker beers as well). Hell, it all works well! Good price, not too busy, very central - what else could you want? Oh, great people? They've got a bunch of them as well. Go. Go now. Go again. Keep going back, and hope one opens a bit closer to London!

After many a moon of folks telling me this off-the-beaten-track…read moregem is worth seeking out, opportunity knocked this Tuesday when a friend chose to have her birthday meal here. I have to admit, as soon as I saw the location I was delighted. It's no more than a 15 minute walk or so from Hyde Park, so easily navigate-able, and stands proudly on the corner. Once you get inside the warmth of the place (literally) and the staff greet you immediately. We were something like 20 strong, and had to wait for a table to finish before we could sit, so stood a bit awkwardly in the entrance - not that it was CC's fault, but as a group there's not quite room in the waiting area. I've heard that in times gone by they'd send folks over to the pub across the road in that kind of scenario, but that has been turned into a Tesco Metro. Sad times. We didn't wait long though, and soon enough piled into our seats. The waitresses kept us well watered with water and drinks orders throughout the night, which was a great touch. I wasn't boozing so particularly appreciated fresh water being replenished without having to ask. As we were a big group, the put on a set meal for that, and so first came a selection of dips and poppadoms. I wasn't a huge fan of the yoghurt dips, as they were a bit tart, but that's just me - everyone else adored them. As well as regular poppadoms we also had cumin seed ones. Next up came starters, which consisted of various battered delicious bites, and some minced lamb kebab type bits of meat, and tikka chicken pieces. All of those were excellent. In particular I liked the battered potato and tikka chicken - it was cooked to perfection and not in the least bit dry. Lastly came the mains. We had a selection of about 10 different dishes, maybe more, and all dived in. You guys, these were the kiddy. This was the one. So, in the end I only tried a few dishes before feeling utterly stuffed, but I had a lamb and mushroom dish, medium spiced, in a red (tomato?) sauce. A chicken and mushroom, which wasn't quite a korma, but had a delicious flavour and cream based sauce. Those two were the stand out for me, but we had all kinds of veggie, spicy, and other going on. Not a bite was disappointing. All freshly made. And the naan?! Sugary! I can't tell you how much this made sense once you mixed it with the curry. Just trust me and go with it. Basically, I've found a new favourite in this family restaurant. Why not five stars? Well, I've only been once, so ought to go again just to be sure. But every bit of this is fantastic. It's not fancy, but it's cosy, the staff are amongst the friendliest I've experienced in Leeds, and the food is exquisite. Oh - and the price? £15/head for that banquet!

We went along for a banquet option, and although I could almost say we started off with the usual poppadoms & pickles this wouldn't actually be true! The poppadoms were made with lentil flour so were totally Gluten Free and tasted delicious! Following this we were served with a very generous mixed starter including onion bhaji, mushroom and potato pakoras, shami kebab & chicken tikka - all tasting amazing! Then onto the mains, as much of a squeeze as it was to find room for them, we had a wide selection of different curry dishes (with my personal favourite of chicken & mushroom) and the lamb dish was cooked to perfection. Not only was the food impressive, but the personal attention from Kate when we arrived and the friendly waiting staff all made the meal really enjoyable.. and finally rounded off by a visit from the chef & co owner Karim dropped by the tables for a chat. I'll be back here as often as I can!

Then I ordered raita to go with some other bits, which was really just not very nice. And lastly, a few days ago I attempted butter chicken again and the sauce was a lot more watery than usual. Not terribly thin, but much less creamy. Sad times! Despite this, I think one last chance is in order. I did love them so much before, after all. Out of the dozens I can think of off the top of my head, only a handful really pleases and satisfies the curry craving. The decor is very modern inside the restaurant, and instantly, you can see that it is very popular with both locals and students alike. The menu is wide, offering your standard curry favourites, as well as other 'specialities'. I opted for a special, and I was certainly not disappointed. The flavours were good. There was just one thing that I and my boyfriend were not really sure of about the place. It certainly wasn't the lack of custom, nor the staff- who were very welcoming indeed. It may well have been the lack of complimentary popadoms at the start of the meal. It is slightly more expensive than your average curry (only just), particularly being so close to Hyde Park. Although the food is clearly made with more care and very tasty, my dish tasted very similar to my boyfriends, prompting the thought that they use the same sauce for everything. With that in mind, I would suggest that you go in a group, to disprove this theory, or to the buffet they serve up on Sunday night, to sample more of their flavours.
