While they didn't have a huckleberry pie, they did have a great selection of homemade options (see photo) and since I can never pass up a rhubarb pie, I got their strawberry rhubarb. It was chunky and delicious with sweet and sour flavor and the crust was to die for! It was so good I had to steal it back from my husband. The cafe is really cute and was full of people, but unfortunately we learned that the owners will be retiring and this great stop will be closing down in just a few weeks. So I suggest everybody stop in and get a taste of the homemade goodness while you still can!

I have had about 5 of the different breakfasts here, as our group meets at 8am, and so far I have been impressed with each and every one of them. I've also had the pancakes, and what I REALLY like about all their breakfasts is that the meat servings come in 4s instead of 2s, which most restaurants serve them in. The bacon used to be thicker, it seems to be a little thinner now though, but 4 slices is way better than 2! Today I tried something called the smasher, and it was tater tot's with every kind of meat and cheese and gravy and eggs smashed on top! It was very good. Admittedly, I haven't tried anything but the breakfasts, but I certainly would if I was there at that time. The prices are not super high yet either. I went with the bison burger and with the suggestion of my server opted for brussel sprouts instead of fries. Simply put, the food was flavorful. The bison of course fresh being in Montana. However, it was the brussel sprouts which took me by surprise. Cooked to perfection, along with the sweet & tangy sauce, they're a hit! Salute to Backcountry Burger for the good grub and vibes.
