We just had dinner at Big Bull. I ordered a salad, and they forgot it, not a big issue, just told them about it when we paid. The bill was $10.00 for the salad, and the manager told the cashier to take off $2.00 and then left the area. Nice way to get extra money, don't deliver the item and then just take a small amount off the bill. They still charged me $8.00 for the salad that I did not get. We decided to pop into this little bar on one of our Sunday rides. We were not disappointed! They have a cool rustic Montana vibe and is very spacious inside. There is bar seating as well as plenty of high and low top tables. It wasn't dark or dreary like some bars. We were just looking to get a snack and cocktails, so we ordered the fried pickles and the prairie bites (fried ravioli stuffed with chicken and an Italian herb cheese sauce). Both were absolutely fantastic!! The breading on the fried pickles was crispy and you could see and taste dill and spices. Be warned, they come out piping hot, and the pickle spears take some time to cool from nuclear hot to safely edible. The prairie bites were perfectly golden on the outside, super creamy and flavor packed on the inside. Also served piping hot but cooled faster than the pickles. I had a Caesar and Hubby had a Long Island Iced Tea. Both drinks were made to perfection. The bar tenders and staff were super nice and the service was fast and attentive. We even got a peek at the kitchen which was spotless! Very impressive!!! I even purchased a cool Big Bull hat to add to my collection. We held a memorial birthday dinner at Big Bull with about 18 people. We gave the option of prime rib or ordering from the menu which can be a big ask of the staff/kitchen with a group that size. I can't say enough wonderful things about the fantastic job the staff did and the top-notch service they provided in addition to some of the best prime rib we've ever had. Everyone else that ordered from the menu received their food timely and had nothing but great things to say. Big Bull was also able to comfortably accommodate our group perfectly in the back making it feel more intimate and special. Thank you Big Bull crew for a wonderful evening all the way around! I ordered the blue burger, and the flavor was amazing. They make their own fries, and put in thin potato slices as well as fries, coat them with their own seasoning, and fry in house. My husband got the coconut shrimp. Waitress said that they make their own breading and fry in house as well. Trouble was, they were a little overcooked, and rubbery. He said that it would be really good if it wasn't burned. The price was $20 for 5 prawns. I thought that was a little high, but I don't eat shrimp much. My son got the sharp cheddar dog, and he loved it. My husband had a taste of it and he said it was really good! This place was a little far out there, but worth it for the quality of food they make themselves rather than serving what comes on the Sysco truck! Also, they have a full bar. SUPER GOOD BURGERS! I am currently visiting Helena with my fiancé to visit his dad here and they said this was a must go to place, and it was. It was packed when we got there, heard the waitresses say it's the busiest they've seen it in a long time. The place is seat yourself however there were no seats open so they sat us at the bar to order drinks while they got a table. We were seated within 10 minutes and did not have to wait long to order. It did take us awhile to get our food but as previously stated they were packed. The food portions are really big but one of the best burgers I've ever had. If you get the regular burger (which you can get by itself) and your in a party where someone else is getting a burger with fries I highly suggest sharing them. read more
