If ever I have needed any help with DIY plans, the friendly staff always are able to give me tips and advice on how to do a great job. I especially love the garden section. The manager in charge is fabulous because if you ask nicely, plants that look a bit tattered can be marked down to $5 or $10. Go home and care for them and in no time the plants are thriving.

A great range of DIY renovation ideas, and the cheapest pots of Dulux paint to paint my domain with. Came in to buy a screwdriver, very helpful. Friendly staff which is unusual for a chain store. The self service checkouts are also fast. The cafe is rather small, and is situated right near the nursery area. Brought a Bryon Bay cookie for only $2.60 here, uber cheap! Highly recommended.

Came in here looking for a replacement plumping part, and while it does have a massive range, it does make it hard to know where to find what your looking for even if you're in the right section. I'm convinced that you'll find a pot of gold before you'll find a staff member willing to help you. After about twenty minutes of searching we found one of Bunnings team members. This team member didn't look at us and barely even knowledged our existence, his only "helpful" advice was to tell us that they didn't have what we were looking for and for him that was it, end of conversation.

Or, as Stewy would say: "Good lord, it's like the spice rack in my fantasy kitchen." Except that's not something a bloke would say really, not unless they wanted to get beaten up with tyre irons. I've been to the Chatty store three times in the last three days for plywood, cable ties, spotlights, power boards, clamps, extension cords, you name it. They recognise me now. We share knowing nods. It's nice. I really dig the whole ease of it all. No big fuss, no knocking out half your day to get supplies. Pull in to the oversized carpark (it's like Texas all up in this place), trot upstairs, grab one of the billion people on hand to help you, and get out. No muss, no fuss. I also like how all the staff are all pretty much slightly different versions of your dad or your uncle (the good uncle, not the one that touches up cousins at Christmas lunches). Oh, and one Saturday morning the North Sydney Men's Choir was doing a sausage sizzle in the car park and tried to recruit me because they needed more altos or sopranos or whoever the high-pitched, non-baritone guys are. As it happens I do know a few tools, but only the human kind unfortunately. I wander in here maybe once a year, if I need something hardware-y like compressed air or a long weight (that's a hardware joke people!) The staff are helpful and friendly. My last visit was a quest for Tarzan's Grip to fix a wayward heel, and suddenly realised I didn't even know if that was the best product. So I asked the nice man which glue he thought would be best for shoes and he said," I was just talking about that with my mate", grabbed a tube of something and guess what? It worked.

Wandering those dizzying isles of homewares, absolutely anything seems possible. Fortunately I tend to snap to before I attempt to crap the entire warehouse into my car. Instead I'll usually just wander up to one of the many friendly and knowledgable staff and ask about this that and the other. Tools, colours, key cutting - these guys know it all. The Gordon branch may be more modest than it's neighbour down in Artarmon, but it's still a great place to shop...or to dream!

I noted she was grumpy and when engaged me she was abrupt and rude. She told me to go get the replacement article in a low grade manner. As I came back I noted she was again grumpy towards another client and she saw me and walked off from the counter. Please review her she is acting strange and unhinged she might not only need training but more intense help. I am serious that she needs training and help. But then, then you get the arse face, life is hard and dull attitude (even it is not since you live in bloody Australia!!) that will not only do a minimum effort but give you wise arse answers. Hardware store's are not places I particularly enjoy shopping at. But the Home Timber and Hardware…read morestore, doesn't feel like other hardware stores. It does have a very good collection of all the basic hardwares you would need, but what makes shopping here different is the level of customer service. The store assistants are probably the owners as well, as that reflects in the quality of service being provided. They are keen to assist and offer help constantly. They may not know everything there is to know about hardware, but they do know their in store products very well and can offer suggestions for alternatives. I liked my shopping experience here a lot and cannot wait to go back! .... Did I actually say that out loud! Hm.. I guess a store can alter your perception.
