Beautiful venue for a wedding! We were amazed by the antique look of a relatively new build.read more

If you are thinking about having your wedding at this venue, run in the other direction. The venue…read moreis beautiful, but it's being horribly mismanaged. The person who manages events for this venue shouldn't be working with the public in any capacity. She was incredibly rude, unaccommodating, and at times down-right nasty, and the behavior started at our rehearsal dinner and continued throughout our wedding weekend. Oddly enough, in the year leading up to the wedding and at the two meetings we had with her onsite, she was extremely nice, accommodating, and communicative. She acted as though weddings at the venue were a well-oiled machine and that she had things under control. I'm not sure why a switch was flipped (I feel as though we were very nice and easy going clients throughout the entire process so I'm not sure what we did to deserve her change in attitude), but her behavior did a complete 180 just in time for our wedding. She spent the weekend being extremely rude to our family, wedding party, and guests. Friday night was spent talking to me (the bride) like I was a dog at what was supposed to be a sleepover with my bridal party (she ruined the night), as well as getting into a yelling match with the owner of the property in front of my entire bridal party and in-laws. We basically paid over $6,000 to be talked down to the entire weekend. Her excuse for her behavior (and the owner's excuse for her actions) is that they were short-staffed. When concerns were brought to the owner, it was as though he already received our money, so he didn't care how we were treated. As a venue, it is THEIR responsibility to ensure they are staffed properly. As paying clients, their staffing problems should have never become our issue. Saturday (the day of the wedding) was spent hearing her yell and speak rudely to anyone who came in contact with her. I'm not really sure what the venue manager did on Saturday, because our day-of-coordinator (a third party vendor) did the majority of the work. You would have thought this was the first wedding ever held at this venue due to their chaotic manner and lack of organization. Details that were discussed in the weeks leading up to the wedding (and even the night before the wedding) were forgotten and missed the day of. Best of luck wanting to do something differently than the way the venue manager was accustomed to doing it- you'd get immediate pushback with zero regard for the fact that this is OUR wedding day that we're paying money for. Just no accommodation whatsoever. Staff from the Plantation House wouldn't even dismiss our guests for dinner. They were truly there to put out tables and chairs (after I was yelled at about the number of tables on Friday night, the wrong amount of tables were still put out), prepare the food (one of the only positives of this place), and loudly complain about guests entering the house and the bridal party using the front staircase. Might I add they never put out a sign (which belongs to the venue) that points guests in the direction of the restrooms that are in a separate building, so guests were forced to come in the house to find a restroom. I'm still confused as to what we paid these people thousands of dollars to do! There are many more specific instances of rude and nasty behavior specifically from the venue manager that occurred all weekend, but if I were to go into detail, this review would be the length of a novel. We still had a great wedding, but it was no thanks to the Country Plantation House. Thank god for our day of coordinator, wedding party, family, and friends who stepped in to help. The current state of this establishment is truly a shame because it's in a stunning location. It was my dream to get married here, but the actions of the staff turned my dream into a nightmare. A wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event, and it's hard to get over the fact that we were treated so poorly on our special day. Beware of this venue, and don't let them fool you into thinking they will take care of you on the biggest day of your life. Instead, you'll pay over six grand for terrible treatment and a venue that couldn't care less about your wedding. If I could leave zero stars, I would. Edit: beware of the most recent 5 star review. It's literally from an employee of the establishment.

I reserved a room for two nights here for business. When I entered the parking lot, I found that…read morethe building from the outside literally looked like a small warehouse where trucks dock. Where was the name branding on the hotel? O_o Then I enter into the lobby and everything looks nice, there is a bar area opposite the doors coming in. I get my hotel keys and wait for the slow elevator and when I get inside, it looks so rough looking. It is basically an undecorated metal box with a missing light fixture above (the bulbs were all on, but a frame was missing). There was also no sign (pun) of an inspection certificate, which should be open for the public to see. I get onto the second floor and it looks as if this hotel is still under renovation (maybe, or maybe no investment was made to the upkeep?). I get to my room (picture 6 out of the ones already posted on this Yelp entry) and at first, it looks like the carpet was either dusty or about to be stripped away. The bathroom walls are buckling a bit. I remember reading a comment on Google Reviews or here about cockroaches and luckily, I have not seen any yet; however, with this (I would call it light) level of disrepair, I would not doubt it. The good thing was, unlike the last hotel in Madisonville, the rooms at least have a coffee maker. The offerings were a breakfast blend coffee and a decaf Columbian one. There were no hot cup sleeves and so one has to use two coffee cups, one inside the other to avoid getting hand burn and there is no packet with sugars and stirrers. Will update. One and a half more days here. The cable is not bad. It seems like first to second tier cable. The channels do include History, Discovery, and National Geographic. They do not have Travel! How am I going to watch ghost shows? 10/07/2025 I woke up and wanted to close the window in the room 203 I was in and the rod that pulls the curtain is broken from the curtain. I went to take a shower and I noticed that all the small hotel bottles (lotion, shampoo, conditioner, etc.) have the Quality Inn brand on them (lol!). Did they even go out of the way to spend money on new branded toiletries? Also, I noticed there is a weird peeling of ceiling plaster above the shower head. When I turned on the water, when you first turn it, it will be cold water (even though the guidance states it is supposed to be hot). Basically, the hot and cold is the opposite. -_- So I go down to have breakfast and there was minimal. There was some bread and bagels in a plastic bakery see through. Two cereals (milk was in the fridge, but I never eat cereal because I am lactose intolerant. I usually only take fat free or lactose free milk. Even this was suspect because the fridge did not seem like it was putting out cold air). There were bananas, cuties (small oranges), and apples in a bowl. Make your own waffles. I was hesitant to take any of the breads for fear that they may have mold or something (not that they did). I decided on taking one of the few bagels that were put out. The breakfast area was not very well lit. I also asked for cream cheese at the front desk and I was told they did not have any. This is so sad. I may end up checking out today and checking in at another hotel. I mean I think the best reasons to come to this hotel would be just for a bed and a shower. With so much disrepair and lack of caring much for the customer (from what I am seeing), it is as if someone with authority, maybe health department or something, for just making sure nothing here is hazardous or maybe hiring a consultant (think Bar Rescue but for hotels) on five star hospitality; could shed some ideas on this hotel. I just noticed from reviews, on the side, while writing this review; that another Yelper found that this place looked like it was under construction (October 29, 2024). So I have come to the conclusion that there was a choice made in not really maintaining the hotel as much as it should be. Instead, it seems like bare bones and as long as everything works, just leave it as is. ~Hotel visiting is an experience. You always put the customer first. Treat them well.~ If Choice Hotel receives feedback from what I have to write, they would downgrade this to a Motel 6 or Super 8 (maybe there are even better hotels in that tier, than this one, in terms of quality of maintenance).

This whole experience was unprofessional from the start. I was over charged for an additional stay…read more$100, I never got my deposit back. Their night shift receptionist assumed I was homeless and lied accusing me of threatening to shoot him when I was making him aware of one of his job descriptions as a task. If the power goes out it's your job to inform every guest what just occured, insults came next. Im still fighting to get my refund from this horrific experience.. Tell the truth in the details of your establishment, nobody wants to book quality such as this nonsense..
