The "discount" is a fallacy. The rent is going up at an alarming rate bc of the most inconsequential repairs being done constantly. Constant construction so always noisy. The pool is a crap shoot. Sometimes is dirty and even worse, green. Don't let the pretty flowers fool you either. We all pay way too much for those when they're free down the street every year. They're also ruining the foundation which is getting worse and worse every year. The administration is getting worse every year as well. They have taken to PHYSICALLY removing you from the office if you dare to complain about something and they don't like you. Ppl are leaving here more and more. There are vacancies in a housing shortage for a reason. You'll be sick of the micromanaging real quick. They all but tell you when to crap and fart. There's a BOOKLET of rules just for the pool. They're welcoming more and more immigrants bc they know they won't complain and they can take advantage of them. When you move in, don't expect too much in the way of repairs, the maintenance guy spends much of his day being angry but doing very little for and amazing salary. We're bleeding money here. Problem is, there aren't enough ppl who will stand up and complain, so we go miserably on. Please believe me when I say, the 1 obligatory star I gave is too good for this place. You can do much better.

I had several choices since Montreal is a large city well equipped in student housing but it was clear to me that I wanted to share an apartment with other students or, at first, to live alone for some time and then find a room in an apartment already occupied by students. I was not interested in any residence life or a life with a family At first, from Tunisia, I scanned many classifieds websites to find somebody looking for a roommate. I found many offers and contacted some potential roommates but there was always something wrong somewhere: the room was not available anymore, the rental was for September only, the neighbourhood was way too far from McGill, etc. So I decided to find a furnished apartment for myself and to look for roommate on the spot. This is when I visited The Apartment Network in Quebec Website. It has been so easy to book a furnished studio from Tunisia. I just had to pay a reservation deposit. No long questionnaires. No credit check. My father's credit card and it was all! And I had a large choice of furnished studios located in different Montreal neighbourhood. I could see them all on the Apartment Network in Quebec Website. Finally, I had the one who was my first choice at a walking distance from a metro station. After 1 month at McGill, I had met many co-students and 3 of them were willing to share a furnished apartment with me. So, I contacted The Apartment Network and asked them to change my rental contract for a 4 bedroom furnished rental close to a metro station. Believe it or not, they had this kind of accommodation available. So, now, I'm well installed with friends I chose. We split the rent by four and since everything is included, we pay monthly a rent close to the one we would pay in a university residence and it is soooo cool...!

The shower was a little wonky but still worked fine but to be honest, this was a very minor issue and I had a wonderful stay for a very reasonable price. I'll be coming back that's for sure!

I've lived in 2 of those buildings and have known people that lived in the other 2 buildings. IMHO, people should avoid living there! The pipes don't work properly, therefore, closest you live to the ground floor, the worst problems you'll get! When someone living above you empty their kitchen sink, the water comes straight to your sink! And let me tell you, it doesn't matter if you have a kitchen sink stopper! The pressure is so great that the kitchen sink stopper pops up and your upstairs neighbor's dirty kitchen sink water comes right into your sink! This building has so many bugs it's ridiculous! And I don't mean cockroaches, because, so far I have never seen one here. I mean all sorts of other bugs, like ants, humidity bugs, earwigs, etc... The building also has holes in its structure (from the outside in, bugs of all sorts enter your apartment, and little animals try to enter too... Get a cat if you can! We've had 2 floods in our apartment in less than a year! One caused by our upstairs neighbor who forgot to close the faucet. And another one caused by the fact that the pipes where clogged at a lower level than our apartment. So what happened is that ALL the water, from ALL our upstairs neighbors, couldn't drain normally (since the pipes were totally blocked) and therefore it came in through our kitchen sink! The water was so black and in such quantity that it almost flooded the entire apartment with at least 2 inches high!!! The only luck we had with this ordeal is that the floors are not leveled so it helped prevent the water from going into the bedrooms and bathroom! They told us that when the floors would be dry, they would come to fix them. They never did! They told us that when the floors would be dry, they would come to fix them. They never did! They didn't even clean the apartment before we came in! it was disgustingly dirty from the previous tenant and we had to clean and disinfect everything. It took 3 times longer to clean this place than to clean any other apartment we ever had in the past! I'm not done with the pipes! The pipes in the bathroom are so clogged that it clogs up the bath tub and the bathroom sink! A plumber was call to unclog it. That was great! BUT it didn't last more than a few days and everything was clogged again! In one of the apartments we lived in, our futon had scratched some of the tiny rectangles of wood on the floor. The building manager said that because of it they would have to re-do the entire floors (living room, dining room, and bedrooms because they're connected together) and wanted to charge us for the entire work!!! He thought that he could get us to pay for the apartment's floor renovation. We told him that with floors like those, he only needed to replace the few tiny rectangles that were scratch and that it was an easy task to do. There was no need to re-do the entire floors. When he saw that we knew how things work, he backed out! Talk about trying to screw over his tenants as much as possible! Where were they when it was time to fix the floors of our other apartment when it got flooded TWICE!!!???
