It's definitely a hike to get up here, as it is a viewing area and one of the hugest points in the city. So you can get some good exercise and then be rewarded with a beautiful sight of Graz's cityscape. There's a lot to walk around and see up here, beyond the clock tower. The gorgeous flower gardens are right below, there's multiple viewing decks around the top, plenty of benches and places to sit and enjoy the quiet, a museum, a city citytop restaurant, and even a performing theater. You go from the valley floor all the way up the…read moregorge to the very saddle between mountains and then you go a bit further to a high mountain meadow with a lodge that serves snacks near the very top so that after a couple of hours of ascending the gorge, there's a delicious meal waiting for you. You get the scenic beauty of Styria's mountains, a wonderful trail that will give your quads and glutes a good workout, and then a meal at the very top coupled with a trail down that leads you by scenic mountain meadows full of cattle wearing cowbells and lovely rustic barns. I hiked multiple translations ls here, though the most treasured one was the route with the log ladders up the waterfalls. However, the hike to the mountaintop to see the cross was also well worth it. Loved the fact that there were beer gardens in strategic locations where one could stop for a pint and a wurst, but also loved how they were properly integrated to not take away from the natural beauty.
