What a fun place to visit! You definitely have to make the trip if you're ever even close to this…read morearea. Little Rocket is cash only (ATM on site with a $2.50 surcharge), located in the rural town of Farmville NC, and closes by 2:00 pm. There are a lot of items on the menu, which is posted on a sign above the ordering window. Make sure you're ready when you finally walk up because the employees are working hard and take their time seriously. This place is order to-go only (and was this way long before COVID). There are some benches nearby where you could enjoy if needed, but I wouldn't necessarily count on it - especially in hot summer heat. Most people drove off with their food or were were eating in their cars with the AC on, right in front of the restaurant where parking is ample. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich on white bread, and it was delicious and filling and only $2.75. I am not sure but it had a relish-onion vibe (but not in a gross way, because I know if I was reading this, that comment wouldn't be appealing). It was good, perhaps you could call it "southern style." My dining partner ordered the Rocket Burger, which was a two-patty burger topped with cheese, onion, house sauce. We also had the fries, which we found very appetizing and delightful. Apparently the place is known for their cheese biscuits (check their website). We couldn't order any fresh, but got two to take home. They come frozen with instructions for baking. Of note, they must be thawed overnight prior. I'll leave a tip once I try these out! I'm really looking forward to it. Haha, for additional insight - the person who accompanied me on the visit to Little Rocket, a non-Yelper, glanced at my review and said "4 stars? Really? I guess I could see that. I mean, I could see it as a 3... but I don't know... I think it should be 5 stars. It was so good and cheap! The attitude wasn't phenomenal but I'm willing to overlook those things. I mean, if I lived there I'd go there all the time and probably recommend it. I think it'd be my number one spot."

I asked if it was too late to place an order and she said no. Her body language was such that she acted like she didn't want to serve us. I told her that I tried to call but no one answered the phone and if they didn't have time to make the order that was fine. Her response was that they were cleaning up. There were three people on site so one of them could've stopped to pick up a call. Whoever manages this place needs to train the staff on customer service skills. I expected better customer service since we were in the south we southern hospitality reigns. Not so at this place. With all the negative reviews, I've read thus far, I am surprised that corporate hasn't been contacted. On a separate occasion when I was in Farmville in December, my family placed an order, went to run an errand and called the restaurant to say we were coming, but were running late. No one picked up the phone. If the hours changed, the website should be updated. Farmville is a acquaint little town with friendly people in it. The employees at Highway 55 do not represent this town. This new generation of young people is something to be desired.

Title: A Contender for the Crown: Mom's Grill is a Must-Try!…read moreRating: Living in Washington, you learn pretty quickly that we take our burgers seriously. After my latest visit to Mom's Grill, I can confidently say the local leaderboard has been shaken up! I ordered the Original Cheeseburger "All the Way" (chili, onions, and mustard), and it was an absolute knockout. Here is the breakdown: The Burger Breakdown * The Patty: The first thing you'll notice is the size. The beef portion here is substantial--it's noticeably larger and heartier than the patties at Dairy Palace or King Chicken. * The Build: They've mastered the "Meat-to-Bun" ratio. Even with the chili and mustard, the bun holds up, and the flavors are perfectly balanced. It's a messy, delicious, classic NC burger. * The Verdict: This is easily the best burger I've had in a long time. It's simple, nostalgic, and incredibly satisfying. My Official Washington, NC Burger Rankings: * La Vaquita Mexican Grill: Still the reigning champ. These are the "supermodels" of burgers--huge, juicy, and incredibly photogenic. * Mom's Grill: A very close runner-up. If you want that classic, hometown cheeseburger flavor with a superior meat portion, this is the spot. * King Chicken: The perfect "hand-sized" burger. It's a total throwback to the old-school drive-in days. * Dairy Palace: A timeless local staple. It's a great burger, though I personally think both DP and King Chicken could reach that next level if they upgraded their beef patties to match the quality of Mom's or La Vaquita. Pro Tip: If you're a fan of a heavy meat portion and classic toppings, don't sleep on Mom's Grill. It's officially in my Top 5!
