What a fun place to visit! You definitely have to make the trip if you're ever even close to this area. Little Rocket is cash only (ATM on site with a $2.50 surcharge), located in the rural town of Farmville NC, and closes by 2:00 pm. There are a lot of items on the menu, which is posted on a sign above the ordering window. Make sure you're ready when you finally walk up because the employees are working hard and take their time seriously. This place is order to-go only (and was this way long before COVID). There are some benches nearby where you could enjoy if needed, but I wouldn't necessarily count on it - especially in hot summer heat. Most people drove off with their food or were were eating in their cars with the AC on, right in front of the restaurant where parking is ample. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich on white bread, and it was delicious and filling and only $2.75. I am not sure but it had a relish-onion vibe (but not in a gross way, because I know if I was reading this, that comment wouldn't be appealing). It was good, perhaps you could call it "southern style." My dining partner ordered the Rocket Burger, which was a two-patty burger topped with cheese, onion, house sauce. We also had the fries, which we found very appetizing and delightful. Apparently the place is known for their cheese biscuits (check their website). We couldn't order any fresh, but got two to take home. They come frozen with instructions for baking. Of note, they must be thawed overnight prior. I'll leave a tip once I try these out! I'm really looking forward to it. Haha, for additional insight - the person who accompanied me on the visit to Little Rocket, a non-Yelper, glanced at my review and said "4 stars? Really? I guess I could see that. I mean, I could see it as a 3... but I don't know... I think it should be 5 stars. It was so good and cheap! This is a hometown classic for me. Anytime I stop in it's always love. On my last trip I purchased frozen cheese biscuits to bring home with me. Instructions on the bag on how to prepare (because you can mess up a great cheese biscuit). I prepared it as instructed and I'm about to eat the whole bag! My personal favorite to get is a wing ding dinner but because I was traveling I got a fish sandwich. AMAZING EVERYTIME! Great food, great people, great prices! Walkup, order at the window, hole in the wall hot dog, hamburger, and biscuit joint. The menu, for such a small place (no inside seating), is broad, if a little redundant. There is a Baby Rocket Burger, a Rocket Burger, and even a Double & Triple Rocket Burger, as well as a Cheeseburger, a Double and even Triple Cheeseburger. There is a Long Dog (perhaps a foot or more long), a Chili Roll, and even a Long Chili Roll, A Fish Sandwich, a Double Fish Sandwich, and so on, and so on. There is a lot to choose from, much is good, little is actually special. The regular Chili Dog is very nice - a toasted, compressed bun (very toasted, actually), bloody red weiner, and thin, yet meaty chili - all in all, not a bad dog. The Cheese Biscuits are also nice - the gentleman in front of me in the small queue ordered 2 Cheese Biscuits and a Mountain Dew - so I added a Cheese Biscuit to my 2 Chili Dog order, sans the Mountain Dew - citrus has its place, and then not. To sum up - the Chili Dog and the Cheese Biscuits are worth a try. Don't know about the Burgers, could be nice. Loved it growing up in Farmville, feeling nostalgic I decided to take a road trip with my wife on a Saturday for her to see my home town and to get some hot dogs from my favorite childhood hotdog joint. We arrived at 2:33pm on Saturday and they close at 2:30pm. Told me that they were closed as people were walking back to their cars with food in hand. Very disappointed. I am not sure what the deal with little rocket french fries, they taste as if they are fried in old grease. I brought fish from them one time and I was greatly disappointed, I should of known better since this is more of an hamburger and hot dog joint. This place is your typical local hole in wall atmosphere with good food. You walk up to an outside window to order. They have the BEST hot dogs I have ever eaten (red hot dogs with excellent chili on a toasted bun). Another favorite is a wing dinner, fried chicken wings, fries, roll and drink.
