From the burgers, the French toast to the assorted alcoholic beverages, fresh juice and smoothies this place was a 10/10. I am so sad I cannot recall our servers name! She was so cheerful and appeared so excited to be at work. We even attempted to tip her and she politely declined and instead wished to receive a review about the restaurant. I had the French toast with their spicy syrup and it was really yummy! I also enjoyed my over easy eggs. I chose the Pink Pleasure as my drink and I found it to be very fresh but just ok however it was still drinkable. My hunny ordered a cheeseburger which was absolutely delicious. The fries were crunchy and fresh. He also had Purple Drank which was very good and rich drink. Overall the restaurant was busy, clean and the staff were very attentive. I will for sure dine here again in the future!

The joint is very much like the breakfast places in Los Angeles, so we felt right at home. To top it off the staff that was helping us, Emmad (sp?) made us feel so welcomed and that made a huge difference. Of course he made everyone feel great at the restaurant. Today, I am trying the chicken waffle. At 9:17 the place is almost full. The place has a seating area in the front and another in the back. There are ten seats bar style as well. It was delicious. I highly recommend the place.

I was obviously skeptical, especially when this place was located pretty far outside of the touristy area and I seemed to be the only one that didn't speak Italian in the place. The waitress could hardly speak English which I totally get and not a bad thing, but just trying to set the scene for y'all. The vibe of the place was Inspector gadget meets a Yardhouse. If you don't know what Yardhouse is, I can't blame you. It's a slightly upscale american bar/burger joint. I got the Perfect Burger, and it was ENORMOUS. Enough to feed a family of 3. Maybe 3 and a half. It was just one step shy of perfect. I was so rattled that I struggled even getting a quality pic of it. That's on me. I would consider this an elite burger back home!!

You're certain to be impressed. So, everyone told me not to eat burgers while traveling in Italy... but, after getting a bit tired of pasta, I did just that--twice! And, both times, I was not let down. One of those burger experiences was at Drogheria--a place that's a bit off the beaten path in Florence but definitely worth walking the extra distance for. For my burger, I tried the Supertuscanaccio (new according to their menu). This burger featured a burger patty as well as mushrooms, proscuitto, and pecorino mugellano cheese... all served on grilled panini-style bread! TASTY! Tony tried the Brunch Burger, which featured scrambled eggs, bacon, and cheese on the burger! He enjoyed his burger just as much as I did. Note that we happened to hit up Drogheria for Sunday Brunch, which I later learned is another thing they're known for besides burgers. Check this place out if you've been in Florence for a while and jonesing for a good burger! You'll definitely be glad you did!

Located in the San Lorenzo district, just a few minutes' walk from the main train station of Santa…read moreMaria Novella), Mercato Centrale is a vibrant food hall experience housed in a historic market building (very similar to the Time Out Market franchise across Europe). From the outside, it looks like a grand, iron-and-glass structure typical of European markets; inside, it opens into a bustling, multi-level space filled with food vendors, communal tables, and constant movement. The vibe is energetic, social, and slightly chaotic in a fun way - perfect for grazing, group dining, or trying multiple cuisines in one visit (from Italian to American to Mexican!). We stopped in for a quick lunch at around 2pm on a Wednesday; there was plenty of seating at high-top tables, and QR codes on paper menus make it easy to explore all the different food vendor options. It's also a fun activity to peruse the market, taking in different sights, smells, and flavors. All of us ended up opting for Schiacciatas (large Italian sandwiches that are a staple in Florence) from Massimiliano Parri, which all ended up ranging from €10-12, depending on toppings - yes, it's more expensive than what you'd get from a traditional schiacciateria, but you're also paying for the market's location and convenience. We appreciated the fact that they shave the meat right in front of you! My schiacciata came with freshly shaved ham atop crusty white bread, slathered with burrata cheese, and sprinkled with arugula and figs (I opted for no additional olive oil, since I found the ham quite rich already). I loved the contrast of textures and flavors, though I will say that the bread ended up cutting the roof of my mouth! All in all, Mercato Centrale is a bit touristy, but still miles better (and cheaper) than most "Italian" sandwich places you'd find in the US (pro tip: save your receipt for free use of their bathrooms). The variety can't be beaten, prices are reasonable for a central market, and it's steps from some of Florence's most iconic spots.
