I worked with Mr. West for almost 9 months. During our first conversation he encouraged me to…read moretrust his 12 years of expertise and experience. I had no reason not to. He told me never to call LPD, saying all his clients regretted it. I had stopped reaching out to them 2 months prior because of all the games and pettiness they played. I asked if he would call to get the 'sustained complaint' letter from the same incident he was supposed to represent me on. He refused saying, "You can call." I hesitantly called and thus began more games and stress. I asked him to email me more than calling, and he said it was better for him that way too. He also refused to pick up the letter once I got it after 9 months of hard work and stress. I called him hundreds of times within that 9 month period after receiving maybe 2 emails max. I ended up dropping the case because he waited until the last minute to show me a 20 minute edited video of a 60 minute encounter clearly edited in the prosecution's favor. The officer himself wanted to drop the case, siting I didn't 'obstruct justice '. I felt like I represented myself in extremely stressful circumstances over the course of those months I worked with him, and I am disappointed I'm expected to pay the bill. In addition I got an email from a company with a man's voice on the recording and another worker's voice from a company claiming I owed them money (The Online Lender's Alliance) sounds eeriely like his as well as a LPD officer a little while before speaking to Mr. West on the phone. It wasn't a fair fight to begin with. In addition, he wasted time by delaying my requests. He ignored my phone calls at key times. It felt strategic and deliberate. I'm very disappointed they slight black people in their criminal system, especially those who can't afford proper legal representation. I felt like he was more like a prosecutor not a defender.
