Like, I understand that three nearby gyms closed, which led to this Crunch absorbing all of those members. Great for them! But they clearly did not plan ahead for all the negatives that come with the membership surge. I wondered how the overcrowded-ness could happen until I was presented with the pricing sheet. At just over $30 a month plus fees, it is practically a dollar a day, which would only be worth it if everyone has a place to work out. But what bothered me the most was the general manager (his name is either Jose or Juan; don't remember exactly, but it sounds similar to that). Specifically what he said and how he said it. The pressure of having to sign up for membership, instead of redeeming the free trial, from the general manager was crazy; it's not professional. Having worked at a gym myself, that is not how you interact with potential members. It is better to be transparent and acknowledge that the gym is very busy rather than questioning someone's intent to use a free trial before committing to a membership. Whoever runs the Yelp page for this Crunch can leave a comment here all they want and deny that they don't pressure people to sign up, but management's lack of social awareness and being conniving is super crazy. I took my business elsewhere and did not even bother to stand my ground when it comes to redeeming the free trial because the amount of disrespect was mad silly. Another downside, others have already voiced how difficult it is to get someone on the phone to cancel a membership. Absolutely think carefully about what you want out of a gym, and if the budget allows, definitely look elsewhere.

I finally tried out V3 on the recommendation of a friend - I wish she had spoken so highly about it…read moreto begin with; I would have gone sooner! The experience was a good one, and if I were going to be staying in Pittsburgh, I would likely buy a membership! I was recommended to V3 after looking for a place in Pittsburgh that does hot yoga. I had heard they were good, but wasn't sure how long I'd be in town, so I didn't sign up for a membership or even take a first visit. That was a mistake. They offer free seven day trial memberships and so I finally went in for a visit. The forrest yoga class was AWESOME. I don't remember the name of the lady who instructed for that class, but I think it was a double name (like Anna Lee). She was friendly and professional, gentle yet challenging. The class was full enough to have comfort in numbers, and small enough to allow the instructor to actually see everyone. She made enough comments throughout the class to give people feedback and encouragement as to their form. Having had some exposure to yoga but not being an expert, the feedback was great! I'd go again, and probably will when I come back for a visit. In the meantime though, it was a worthwhile trip and their prices looked definitely reasonable. *I've been to Core Power Yoga and another major chain. The instructor here was comparable in knowledge to even the "big names", and the atmosphere was definitely more personal. **The class I went to was a hot yoga class; their calendar is on their website which lists which classes are hot classes and which aren't. Major props to them for that one. ***The negative point which stands out the most to me is their reviews on Google maps and places; every review reads as though it could have easily been written by an employee of the facility, and some clearly were. One even included a claim by the owner of "I guarantee it!" If the organization were to remove these artificial reviews, I would recommend V3 much more readily.

Two years ago, I was a yoga newbie…read more I've never been athletic or flexible; I never had good balance. I was a gymnastics and dance school dropout as a child, and I've never liked working out. Plus, I'm in the over-50 demographic. The only reasons I even considered trying yoga were: 1) on the advice of a personal counselor who thought it could help me unwind; and 2) the attractive pricing offered by this studio (then called V3, now called Take Yoga). Honestly, I was hooked from the first day. The instructor for my first class (Leigh Ann) was young but wise, patient and clear in her instructions. She never made me feel as if I "didn't belong," and has been a source of inspiration and encouragement ever since. I am now a faithful practitioner and usually get to two classes a week. I would come more often if I could! Each of the instructors at this studio has a different teaching style, but I have enjoyed all of the classes (even the tough ones, and the hot ones) despite the fact that I'm often the oldest student in the room. The atmosphere is welcoming and non-competitive, and the other students are friendly. Plus, the place is as clean as can be. What yoga has done for me: My balance, posture and strength have improved remarkably. My family has noticed that I'm calmer, and I feel more centered. Yoga has helped every aspect of my life; I'm convinced that it helped me recover from recent foot surgery and now that I'm back on my mat, I'm a happy camper. I highly recommend this studio! Namaste!
