It's great that they provide kids with snacks, thanks to the donors. My kid doesn't attend these every week, but for the ones she has attended, half were good, half were not. Some activities were not well managed: There was a time where my kiddo won a prize from a bingo game, she took a Frozen puzzle from the table after someone put it down, but that person's mother took it from her hands. My daughter cried and the librarian wouldn't do anything about it but give her a different keychain. Another time, the website listed a limit to how many kids could attend a specific after school club project, but they didn't enforce that limit. Even though, my daughter was one of the firsts to go in, they didn't call our table until the very last. She was quite upset with getting only two of the tubes (and other kids at our table only got 2 as well) instead of 3, that other kids who came later were able to get. They should have given out the tubes as people entered through the door instead. There were fighting over the colours too of the paper that covered it - maybe the kids could cover the tubes themselves. Another time, on the website, it said a Taylor Swift activity for all. Turns out the activity was only for teenagers, which my kid was too young for. She left disappointed.

I've found this library a nice, quiet space to work out of on days when I don't need to be on any…read morecalls. It's situated in a great neighbourhood with a lot of restaurants to go to for lunch and coffee shops to go to when you want a break. It's also not far from transit, so you could easily get here and leave. The only thing I think is missing from here is a meeting space where you could talk without disturbing others, however, given the size of this library, I understand why creating such a space likely isn't a priority.

Of course this location is a lot newer, bigger and more modern than what it used to be. However even being bigger and have more rooms.. I still cannot find a spot to sit...ended up I just stood and read some books for 30 minute...... A lot of the book shelves are half empty, especially on the second floor. After many years of service, this public library has experienced abuse from its extensive children's reading section and the expanded computer lab where teenagers spend hours playing online games. The library is definitely good if you have kids -- their children's section has a cute little reading area and they do have group reading events every once in a while. They carry lots of books on tape/CD, as well as movies on VHS and DVD that you would otherwise have to pay for at Blockbuster. Another thing this library is good for is reading material in other languages -- they have a huge selection of books, magazines, and movies in Cantonese and Mandarin, as well as Urdu and other South Asian languages. They have a decent French section including a lot of expensive dictionaries, and they have a huge encyclopedia section upstairs. They also have a couple good study areas if you need some peace and quiet, just go upstairs, away from the kids' section, and silence is yours. Their selection of reference books is much better than other Scarborough libraries, and they usually have a lot of the books in the library itself. They have computers exclusively for searching for materials and reserving them online, and the whole system is easy to use once you get the hang of it. If you're in Scarborough, Agincourt Library is one of the best, and even if you're out of the neighbourhood, this library is decent if you want to actually bring the books home, since you have to leave the books at the Reference Library the way you found them.

Rather small selection of teen books in the teen zone. Major issue is that there's a particular gentleman who always sits in that teen zone at a table with wet wipes and a back scratcher in toe, breakfast strewn about, and essentially uses it as his person living room. I have witnessed him scratching his back with his back scratcher, wiping his neck and disposing of tissues in the nearby waste basket. It is certainly unappetizing particularly with children in that zone. And a library table is not the place for personal hygiene care (go to the bathroom for that please) I STOPPED going to this library when I witnessed this person changing medical bandages on his bloody foot on a chair in his "living room". I told the clerk who said that wasn't permissible (bodily fluids, blood, no thanks), and she got security to handle it. But come on - that's not what a public library is for.

But what doesn't make sense is that the men have to line up for the handicapped washroom on the ground floor - they didn't find a separate mens washroom. I also noticed on the children's floor, there was liquid on the floor of a stall (possibly urine), and my husband noticed that too in the handicapped ground floor washroom. It isn't sanitary to keep all these washrooms that dirty. there are lots of books and choices here. And love that it's close to Fairview mall.

There's also a theatre with a separate entrance from the parking lot. There's plenty of natural light throughout the library. On the second floor there's fiction novels for adults and young adults. From what I could see, there's a children's and teenage section to the left of the entrance and then an adult section to the right. There are quite a few computers throughout the library. There's a theatre-like section for seminars in the children's section. Located by the newspapers, there was a book sale. Prices vary for paperbacks, hardcovers, audiobooks, CDs, DVDs, and magazines. The other option is to ask staff for a paper bag and fill it for $3. I don't think I regularly see security guards at libraries, but there was one at this location.

There are some comfortable armchair seating in some of the quieter area. Free wifi, a chance to catch up on some work or doing some research. They go above and beyond to help their clients: not only pointing to the shelf they are seeking, but going with them and making sure they get the book they need. And helping people who are unfamiliar with the automated checkout process. Even the guards are ready to help. On one visit, I was just returning a book, and was surprised to see the outdoor slot for returns was closed. I hadn't brought my mask, so was wondering what to do next. The guard came over and asked if she could return it for me. She did. Bravo Palmerston!
