The staff was so nice to explain the event how it works, and helped us to find the books and audio books, etc... my kid enjoyed the time in the library, there were toys and books for different ages. She could even draw something in the library. It's a good place for the kids to stay for a while. This library was small but cozy. We love to come.

Books…read moreand DVDs occupy all available space aside from small areas set aside for walking and sitting. Because of its size, the selection isn't as extensive as the bigger branches. But you can put a hold on items available in other Markham branches. They will be transferred within about a week. The library staff were friendly and helpful. Check out the pretty, well-maintained garden surrounding the building. The small parking lot is challenging to get out of. If you're only returning an item, you can get away with parking next door or across the street.

I visited on the 2nd day of opening and the trees by the entrance weren't planted yet and there were 2-3 staff members at the front. Self checkout wasn't working yet. There is plenty of parking space outside. There are also two EV charging stations for the environmentally conscious. The only annoying thing about driving was that the entrance faces double-yellow lines, so you can only turn in (and out) going west. The inside of the library is really nice, with high ceilings and lots of windows that let in natural light. I noticed the start of a coffee bar, which should be a nice addition. There are tons of stocked shelves, but also quite a number that are still empty. There are many comfortable chairs throughout the library, including a few C-shaped chairs outside the children's books section. In the middle of the library is an outdoor courtyard to enjoy during the sunny summer months. One of the nice features of the library are the numerous semi-private rooms. The rooms are encased in see-through colored glass, so you can see if they're occupied. There's also a computer lab with small form factor HP desktops. For those with their own mobile devices or laptops, free wifi is also available.

Want to host a meeting? Book out a room. What to record a podcast? No problem. Want to use a 3D Printer? We got a few, son! Want to sit on a rooftop freaking patio and relax? Welcome home. Never mind the vast library of video games, Blu-Rays, audiobooks, this place has it all. I love that they even have exercise bikes set up so you can get a workout in while you read. Like what?? Insane. What a win for the city of Vaughan.

Given its size, it is VERY well run, and provides just about all the services you'll need on any given day at the library. The recommended offerings on display are very well organized and rotated regularly. I love that I can just about always find something interesting to take with me in addition to - or instead of - anything else I came by for. There are several areas to use, depending on your needs - from a quiet chair in a corner, to a desktop workstation, to a study room, to the large activity rooms used for programming. Speaking of programming, there are all kinds of movie nights, special help sessions e.g. retirement planning, how to upgrade your literacy and digital literacy skills, etc. My favourite is the book chat held on the last Wednesday of every month. These books are reserved for monthly discussion and you get your loan for the period to coincide with the chat. You don't have to sign up and it's always a treat to participate in the well facilitated discussions - as much or as little a you like, no pressure here. One of my other favourite services is how easy it is to borrow items you want with the reserve/pickup system. I can request my items and when I'm ready (and they're ready for you), all you have to do is breeze in, collect them from the shelf with your number on them, and use the automatic checkout. So fast and convenient! Kudos to the staff here - knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. Best resource in the neighbourhood.

Free unsecured Wifi and a good kid section... those monitor and KB for kids looks neat.. I almost want to play one of those "educational" games on them! Share the same building as Community Centre and have access to the huge park at the back. A whole room dedicated to Picture Books at the back... Picture books? sounds like fun! Definitely a great library for kids and young readers!

This is the most futuristic library I'd ever been to…read more They've got a 3D printer which you can get stuff printed for free! If you have a larger 3D print job, you can come back several times to complete the project. I think you have a 2 hour limit per visit. There's also a button-making machine, where you choose a picture or a page from a comic book and then apply it to a button which you can then pin to your clothes. Really neat! Rows and rows of books, of course, are all over the library. There are many more features to this library, so you should check it out if you haven't been!

I think the kids having a great time attending their summer program with 3D printings, latest computers lab and games. The decor here is modern and futuristic and with so much energy. If you are not kids or with no kids, please proceed to the 2nd floor. I like the quiet zone at the back and the upper level for adults are noticeably quieter. Now since even books are in digital format, there are less actual printed material available. DVD movies are quite current. Good to pick up a few for movie night at home.

The little coffee shop inside the main floor that allows you to buy a drink and sip while relaxing is a great idea. The whole third floor is a quiet zone... big signs telling you what you allow to do or not allow to do. I love those arm chairs facing the big windows... comfy and have a great view! But why 2 star?!! You have to have a library card in order to use their WIFI!! So if you are not a resident of Richmond Hill... you are out of luck!! BOO!!!!!!!!

Growing up in "the Hill" this library (and it's original location) were my local spots for picture…read morebooks, read alongs, summer camps, tobogganing and young adult books (big ups to R.L Stein and Christopher Pike)! Later in life, my high school exam periods were spent here on weekends when not working, studying for tests and getting work done when home seemed too busy to get anything done. Later still in University, I continued to seek solace here from the world outside when I came home from Waterloo on weekends and needed to get things done. It was always a positive study experience. Provided you arrived early enough (aka at opening) and managed to out run the teems of people racing you for a prime seat by a window). I always thought it funny to watch people run like they're about to miss out on a big sale or their bus, up stairs, pushing one another over just for a seat. These days the library is packed with student, you cannot get a seat anytime of day and folks spend a lot of time flirting and talking on their phone in the stacks whilst occupying limited study/work retail. Blah! Not to mention the Wifi is spotty and restricted (no streaming or video watching... not even Youtube) and the cafe on the main floor (which has been there since day 1 of this location) is over-priced and low quality at the best of times. I can't totally slam the place, it's still one of the largest public libraries in the GTA and a central focal point in Richmond Hill as you drive North on Yonge approaching Major Mackenzie. I'll be back again I'm sure, for now it's coffee shops for my working needs!

Runnymede Public Library is such a charming little neighbourhood library…read more Runnymede Library was opened on this present site on 1930 and listed on Toronto Historical Board's Inventory of Heritage Properties adopted by City Council, 10 December, 1975. Yes it is as good as your grandmother! Of course, it has went through a couple of renovations. The windows opening up to the park at the back do bring a lot of natural light and outdoor space inside the library. Due to the it's size, the library's own collection is quite limited..but it is a nice place to relax and use their free Wifi!

The Runnymede branch is nice because it backs onto a park space and there is an entire back wall of windows where you can read or do work at tables. There is also an upstairs reading/work area that is well lit and often silent. I like to go up there to look out over Bloor street from above (pigeon view). The upstairs is kind of a secret. They don't really advertise that there is even access to an upstairs space. It's a great place to study, if you live in the area
