The chicken salad is way better than anything else on the menu, tried all the burritos and was not impressed. Service was good

Just steps from Valladolid's buzzing zócalo, where scooters zip past and church bells cut through the heat, this place hides in a garden like a well-kept secret. Lantern light. Greenery. The kind of setting that makes you slow down whether you meant to or not. Romantic without trying too hard. The food? Solid. Confident. Proudly Yucatecan. Sausages with snap and smoke. Poc chuc--citrus-marinated pork, kissed by flame--bright and satisfying after a long day wandering ruins. And the beef pibil, wrapped in that earthy, achiote-stained depth that tastes like it's been cooking since before you bought your plane ticket. Not fussy. Just honest, regional flavor done right. Presentation was sharp without being pretentious. Plates came out looking like someone cared. Service was efficient--no hovering, no theatrics. They know you're hot, hungry, and probably still thinking about pyramids. They move accordingly. It's the kind of place that feels like a reward. Ancient wonders by day. Garden dinner by night. Valladolid humming just beyond the walls. That's a good way to end a day in the Yucatán.

Very nice interior, deco, tables, settings, AC, cool music, you can always come but you cannot leave until you satisfied your hungry stomach . Service is attentive and slow as the 'hotel California ' music streaming in the background. We started with the empanadas Chaya, then stuffed cheese, longaniza de Valladolid to stay with Yucatan side. Then garlic plancha octopus and lobster pasta to be on the safe side. Empanadas and stuff cheese is below average. Octopus is really good, balanced with grilled vegetables. Lobster is small but good. Pasta sauce is not on par. Sausage is very good, the grilled onion is exceptional. For the drink, tamarind is below Mexican average standard. Take one star off.

The service was terrible. The food was amazing. Would I wait for food/service from there again?…read moreNope. The servers were very nonchalant as we waited 20 minutes after being sat to come over to our table for the first time. This was after waiting at the door for 10 minutes and in the waiting area for 20 minutes. It took 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive after ordering. I was so thirsty I started drinking from the water bottles we had brought with us. The food, surprisingly, arrived not too long after a basket of chips and salsas was brought to the table. I noticed the next table over got their basket of chips and salsa before us (and before their drinks). We ordered agua mineral, enchilada mole con Pollo, dzitnup, jugo verde, molcajete mexicano, and Milanesa de pollo con papas. Food prices were decent (MX1230 for our meal and drinks).

We always love comming here for breakfast when we are in the area, and it truly never dissapoints. This time we had the Cochinita and Lomitos Pibihua and the Mole enchiladas with chicken. Just browse around and see what types of foods you're interested in. The downsides are that tables are first-come, first-serve. It's like a food court with markets or it's like a market with a food court. Either way, El Bazar Municipal features covered communal seating with cheap food and cheaper restrooms. I got a soft drink (because of the intense heat) from a small store while she hit the loo. Then we did a little window shopping. Vendors offer a variety of local products like embroidered clothes, dresses, and blouses, plus ornaments, jewelry, and accessories. Ice cream, candy and sodas are available quick refreshers, but, more importantly, El Bazar Municipal is the kind of place you'll find flavorful local dishes such as Lomitos de Valladolid (Pork Loin in Tomato Sauce), Longaniza (Smoked Pork Sausage), and Polle en Escabeche (Chicken Escabeche like ceviche). Breakfast is cheap while lunch and dinner have a broader mix of cuisine including some offering comida corrida. If you are staying in Valladolid, Yucatán, Mexico, consider stopping in the centrally-located El Bazar Municipal to grab a quick snack, down a refreshing cold drink, experience local cuisine, view a wide-range of products from vendors, escape the sun, or simply use the restroom for a small fee.

The previous night we dined at another recommended, but definitely tourist restaurant and had a wonderful experience. This was just the opposite and I cannot recommend it. We ordered margaritas, a mushroom starter, a tuna entree, and a beef entree. I added a glass a Cabernet Sauvignon. The margaritas were overly sweet. I ordered the beef medium, expecting a warm pink center. I received a very red center. When I asked for it to be cooked a little more the waiter told me that I should have ordered it medium well. He took my plate and we did not see him for another 10-15 minutes. In the meantime, my husband really enjoyed his tuna and I liked the wine. I don't think there is a wine list - I was offered a choice of merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon - no worries - it was good but a very small pour, maybe 4oz. The margaritas were similarly modest. The mushrooms and tuna were good. Overall - it wasn't 100% terrible but I would not go back and cannot recommend.
