Umbrella Bus barely got our passengers from Point A to Point B, did not do so efficiently, and arguably didn't do it terribly safely. We booked Umbrella for a 54-passenger shuttle to transport wedding guests from our wedding hotel to our ceremony venue, and then from the ceremony venue to the reception venue ($1050 total). I confirmed this itinerary with their staff by email and phone several times (at least three), because they kept sending me invoices that only showed a partial itinerary, but they assured me that they had the correct itinerary written down and would read off the correct itinerary on the phone when I called. On the first trip, the bus driver got the bottom of the bus stuck on a steep hill, rendering it unable to move. Guests had to walk nearly a quarter mile from where the bus got stuck to the ceremony site. The bus was also blocking the entrance to the park where the ceremony was held, meaning that park visitors and several wedding guests who were behind it were severely delayed in getting into the park. We had a couple of guests who missed some of the wedding ceremony because the bus blocked the entrance for so long. It would've been 3.5 stars if only for this, since it wasn't 100% the driver's fault, though he should really have known what the buses he drives are able to handle. On the second trip, though, despite me confirming the destinations in the itinerary with Umbrella MULTIPLE TIMES, the driver had somehow been given the wrong destination by their dispatch, and took guests back to the hotel instead of to the wedding reception venue. My family members had to argue with the driver, who insisted that he'd been told to take everyone back to the hotel, and "I'm only doing two trips, how will people get back to the hotel?" but he eventually relented and took everyone to the reception instead, but meant that most of the guests were delayed by quite a bit in getting to the reception. This definitely wasn't the driver's fault though, and was clearly the fault of the company/dispatch. He did eventually take the guests where they needed to go, which we appreciate.

This review is mainly for the concert/entertainment Event Center venue at Cache Creek Casino Resort. Doors open one hour before showtime and close one hour after show starts; only re-entry is allowed after doors close. To attend any show there, you must be 21+. No photography or recording of any kind is permitted during the show (this was included in a Know Before You Go e-mail but NOT announced right before showtime). No outside food or drink (only the Event Center bar), no weapons. Metal detector security check for all, bag check only if they ask. Box office opens 4 hours before showtime. Mom's Mother's Day gift was tickets to see Filipina vocalist Morissette Amon's June 13th sold-out one night only performance of her Ember Tour. From the event description: Morissette is a Filipino singer and songwriter nicknamed in the press "Asia's Phoenix". She gained notice as a runner-up in TV5's Star Factor at age 14 and made her theatrical debut in 2012 as Mitchie Torres in Repertory Philippines' adaptation of Disney's Camp Rock. She received wider notice as a semi-finalist in the first season of ABS-CBN's The Voice of the Philippines in 2013. In 2015, Morissette released her self-titled debut album. It was certified Platinum by the Philippine Association of the Record Industry. The accolades for Morissette's music and performances have included two Awit Awards, an Aliw Award, six PMPC Star Awards for Music, and 38 Wish 107.5 Music Awards, the most such awards of any artist. With ticket purchase, they did provide an optional promo code for 15% off a room reservation valid only for the night of the event if you were interested in staying over. Tickets were non-refundable and managed through an Etix account. Delivery of tickets wasn't available until 5 days before the event, and could be printed or added to phone's digital wallets. From the parking garage elevator, you did have to walk through the gaming area and past the eateries to get to the Event Center. Outside the security checkpoint, the closest restroom that I saw/used only had 2 stalls. Once you get past the security, then the Event Center and ballrooms have their own bathrooms. Ushers were good showing you to your section/row/seats. These were metal cushioned interlocking chairs, no armrests, seat number labeled on top. We were in SEC 5, Row BB, Seats 61 and 62. This wasn't bad at all to see the stage, plus they had the big screens on either side too, although unless you're in a group, unfortunately you can't choose your neighbors. 2-hour show, no intermission, one artist outfit change, acoustics were alright, special effects and lighting were cool. As I mentioned before, policy says no photography or recording but even though we got there when doors opened at 7pm, there was no general announcement/reminder before the show actually started. So, for the opening Tagalog song, many, many folks were recording video. The ushers and security swooped in, pointing and making big "X's" with their arms to get people to stop. At one point, security escorted Morissette down/through the audience aisles during a song and then fans were again taking photos and video and selfies as she passed by. I wish they would at least allow maybe the encore song or something, especially in this modern/social day and age, or a designated photo op. It was great to catch Morissette live for an unforgettable night of powerhouse vocals and pure emotion! She did maybe 4 English songs, a couple Bisaya songs, and the rest were Tagalog. Her 15 years in the industry were well-represented and songs ranged from romantic ballads like Akin Ka Na Lang and Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw to Secret Love Song, Defying Gravity, I'll Be There, and Rise Up. Jo Koy is also coming August 21-22, but those are also sold out!

Uber keeps moving our pickup time and now it's after 2am and can't even get a drink to help smooth out our endless wait times! We had booked a private tour for his birthday to meet the rescue animals who call this beautiful place home. Yasmin met us at the entrance and, after swapping shoes for some solid boots, gave us a very honest, very real, and very important rundown of industrial agriculture. Now, I have to add, neither of us are vegan or even vegetarian, but Yasmin proved to be an actively non judgmental, compassionate host. She walked us through the grounds, addressing each animal by name, and was full of knowledge and insight! After the initial meet and greet, we were off! We hiked across the beautiful grounds and met tons of sheep (Jet loved my partner!) goats, and pigs; all of the animals roam freely, coming and going as they please. It was actually delightful how so many of the animals came up to say hi and hang out out of their own volition! We brought some grapes for the chickens and they LOVED them! But oh my god, the turkeys. Wow, just, two little friendly, fluffy orbs that floated around our party showing off while Yasmin gave us an informed and empathetic story about them. She did that at every habitat; letting us in, introducing us (by name!) to the boldest of the bunch, and explaining how they ended up at Animal Place. It was an entirely wonderful, enlightening experience. Also, fyi, turkeys are so soft. I cannot recommend this organization enough. 10/10, please give Conrad an extra treat for me!

I won about $24.00, then stupidly kept playing and lost $14.00 from it. I had a pale ale in the brewery, and it was delicious. The brewery is the highlight of the casino IMO. When a friend left his phone on a Phoenix bus after a school dance this past weekend, we called…read moreimmediately (within minutes of the bus departing) to ask the driver to wait or turn around. What followed was one of the most shockingly unprofessional customer service experiences we've ever encountered. Fadi Stephan, who answered the phone, told us there was nothing he could do. When we pressed, he didn't just decline to help -- he lectured us. "You're adults, you need to face the consequences of your actions," he said. At one point, he mimicked my voice. We were stunned. Any reputable transportation company has a lost item policy. The standard practice is simple: when a customer calls shortly after leaving something behind, you make a reasonable effort to help. Phoenix chose not to. What makes this especially inexplicable: after leaving our school event, the bus went directly to Disneyland (six hours away) meaning the phone would be inaccessible until Monday. We weren't asking for a miracle. We simply asked Fadi to notify the driver so the phone could be safely held by the company rather than discovered and pocketed by a future passenger. He refused, and never offered any explanation as to why. If anything, it felt like he was rooting for another passenger to pick it up. We followed up with polite emails throughout the weekend. His written responses were abrasive: "Once again for the 5th time, I will let you know once the bus is back," but even that felt kind compared to his tone over the phone, which obviously doesn't leave a paper trail in the same way as email. Phoenix has lost our business, and we will be sure to share this information with the rest of our school. Please do yourself a favor and find another bus carrier! It's not worth the headache.
