The Goodman House is the only place I would stay, when visiting Chico! From the beautifully appointed rooms, incredibly comfortable beds, outstanding gourmet breakfasts, friendly and relaxing happy hours, extremely congenial hospitality, and great attention to detail, you will never want to leave. Tom & Margo Graham will make you feel welcomed and cared for. I had room #4, which was bright and cheery, and very comfortable, and has a private bathroom, as do all the rooms. I had a delicious, freshly-made breakfast in the morning, starting with a yogurt, granola, and berries parfait, followed by an amazingly delicious Grand Marnier French Toast dish. Tom & Margo were very helpful with tips on things to do, and were even giving input to another guest there on life in Chico, during their complementary happy hour, as he was a neurosurgeon visiting the hospital in Chico, deciding upon whether he wanted to transfer from the east coast. A medical emergency had a family member in the hospital a couple blocks away. I stayed at the Goodman house throughout the process and they were amazing the entire time. I kept on thinking I was going to be able to leave town but the medical situation kept changing, they were very accommodating throughout the process. It included a two-night stay for two, fresh cookies at check in, coupons for local restaurants/shops, breakfast both mornings, afternoon tea for two, and a bottle of wine upon departure. My boyfriend and I stayed in the room three. I LOVE that the room didn't have that funky hotel industrial "clean" smell. It had a very homy feel. The bathroom was stocked with what you would find in a typical hotel room. Breakfast was AWESOME. This wasn't your continental breakfast - although they did have that for us. Fruit and little pastry things. The first morning we had fresh made blueberry pancakes and bacon. The second morning, we had muffins, hash browns, eggs, and sausage. There was apple juice, orange juice, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. I had hot chocolate both mornings, topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup. The owners were incredibly helpful. I wanted to rent a bike, but since I was unfamiliar with Chico, I wasn't sure what options I had. Tom told us exactly which shop to go to and how to get to Bidwell Park. We spent the day riding around the park and the city of Chico. I definitely recommend Goodman House for a great nights stay. read more

Amazing!! Fantastic!! My mom and I came to Chico to see my son for parents weekend. All of the local area hotels were full, but we happen to come across this gem, Goodman House bed & breakfast. I live in Chico and needed some quick me-time. I decided to try a local B&B. Tom and Margo are the most excellent of hosts and run an extremely comfortable, immaculate, quiet, bed & breakfast. Margo made me chicken sausage with a lovely breakfast, to accommodate my dietary preferences. The large claw-foot tub, the book collection, parlor and garden were all little private worlds to loose myself in. Next time I need a quick reboot, the Goodman House will be my local choice. p.s. We had previously paid for relatives to stay here. Now I have personal experience in knowing this is an excellent place to lodge our out-of-town guests. read more

A vegan-friendly bed & breakfast in Chico, CA - the perfect place to stay after a visit to the Farm Sanctuary (www.farmsanctuary.org) in Orland. We stayed in Room 4, which was tiny but lovely. Very clean, cozy, and quiet - but not to the point where you had to censor your speaking volume. Tom & Margo were very accomodating to my vegan diet. Margo left out some cinnamon twists for me and she made tofu scramble and vegan banana pancakes for breakfast. They were so good I needed to make sure they were vegan, and she was kind enough to bring out the recipe from her copy of "Vegan Planet". This was my first time at a B&B, and I was pleased. The patio of the Goodman House is a lovely place to sit and sip coffee and enjoy the tree-lined streets of Chico. And it's only 2 miles from the Sierra Nevada brewery. read more

ABSOLUTE MUST STAY***** We were traveling for vacation and found the Goodman House B&B Gem in the AAA travel guide and checked them on Yelp. The 5Star ratings are legit. Tom and Margo are exceptional hosts who anticipated our needs before we arrived (even some things we did not know we needed). They run a beautiful B&B situated in a very nice neighborhood that is close to down town Chico, CSUC, the professional community, and the medical center. Every room has a unique decor and a warm, comforting welcome for weary travelers. We will visit Chico again just to stay at the Goodman House B&B! read more

Tom and his wife were great hosts. Very warm and friendly people who are down to earth and helpful in guiding us in our 2 nights stay in Chico. Made us awesome breakfasts of eggs, bacon, and blueberry pancakes. The room was really nice, clean, and prepped. Usually I'm a bit apprehensive about bedbugs and all that but they literally clean and pamper all the bed sheets just like mom would. Internet is also free, just ask. I feel like I'm staying at my mom's charming, antique-filled beautiful and immaculate home when I stay here. My room is always very clean and well prepared. There is wine (and port!) in the upstairs sitting area and the breakfast she cooks is delicious. I was so sad to miss it this time due to my schedule. Also, staying in a neighborhood that's charming makes the experience much more personal. I took a walk and saw so many lovely flowers in all the well-groomed yards. I'd much rather stay here and have a home-like feeling than get Marriott Rewards points. It's just more pleasant. read more

Our very first B&B stay could not have been more perfect. The owners Margo and Tom run a beautiful home. They are both extremely warm and friendly, like two of your favorite family members would feel, with great stories to tell and share about the area. Highlights: -The house is a gorgeous 1906 Victorian that has all the details from that era. - One of the most comfortable mattresses I have slept on (Tom explained they are locally made) - A delicious breakfast (egg soufflé, fresh fruit, coffee cake, breakfast potatoes, sausage, and even mimosas) was served to us on a peaceful, garden side patio at a private table. Hard to believe that this unbelievable homemade breakfast is included! - The house is quiet and so comfortable with a seating den upstairs outside the bedrooms. Slept like a baby! - A fun happy hour with great wine, cheese (a new favorite brand of jack cheese for me!), crackers, and salami. - Margo went out of her way to make a dinner reservation for us a couple blocks down at a place called Red Tavern, which was delicious. Delicious fresh fish and pomegranate margaritas. - You feel comfortable to come and go as you please. Again, as if you are in your own private home. The only disappointment is that we did not have any experience seeing the ghost(s) of Goodman House. We will definitely be back again, with hopes for that. I understand it's July and more than 90 outside but the AC could have been set a little lower. We did have a ceiling fan and had that sucker going max speed all night. This review is long overdue... We had the pleasure of staying with Tom & Margo at the Goodman House a couple of years ago. It was our first experience at a B&B, and the truth be known, we did not think we were really B&B type people. However, our experience at Goodman House made converts of us. It was such a wonderful experience that we now actively search out B&B's in our travels. The Goodman House is beautifully restored Victorian in the heart of tranquil old Chico, easy walking distance to downtown. It is very comfortable and homey and the hospitality is top notch. We particularly enjoy sitting on the front porch in the evenings relaxing with a cocktail. Tom & Margo are ready with ideas and suggestions for things to do, places to visit and restaurant suggestions should you desire. The breakfast are awesome and very flexible to suit taste, timing and any special requirements. We were anxious to return to Goodman House as our recent travels took us through Chico last October. The evening we arrived we found ourselves faced with an emergency appendectomy which required a stay of several nights. The hospitality extended us by Tom & Margo was overwhelming! They were so helpful and accommodating, we hated to leave. We reluctantly said goodbye, and certainly plan to visit again under better circumstances. I was at the Goodman House last week, and I can honestly say that this was one of the best Inns I've ever been to in terms of service. Margo and Tom are so kind and generous. Sometimes when using a voucher you can expect a mediocre service, on the opposite, we were treated like royalty! We had a scrumptuous breakfast, then at 3 pm afternoon tea (w/ sandwiches and home made scones) and late afternoon wine and cheese! I've never had that in any other Inns or even hotels I've ever been to. The Inn itself was very charming and the rooms are very clean. I'll definitively come back to this Inn. read more

Goodman house is a great alternative to staying downtown. There are about 6 rooms, and its close to the Red Tavern about a block away for evening snack. The rooms are quaint- ie great for relaxing stay- not the best if you are on a business trip (no desk). This is a must stay place while in Chico! We have stayed with Margo and Tom, the keepers of the house, on two visits. Margo sets a beautiful table for large gourmet breakfast at whatever time that works for you.! All the rooms are nicely decorated for time period of the home. We were working an event while there and Margo and Tom were so kind to bump us up to the larger room #1 with a luxurious claw foot tub. The location of the Inn is within eight blocks of downtown an easy walk or bike ride. This Inn is so relaxing and you are made to feel right at home. You won't be disappointed. read more

I stayed in Chico for two days and nights during the week of August 15th. I was there to attend business meetings and I did not want to stay at a hotel. I chose the Goodman House Bed & Breakfast. It was choice I shall remember with great thoughts for many years to come. The owners, Tom and Margo, could not have been more accommodating. The B&B itself has several common rooms along with the bedrooms, located on the second floor. The room I stayed in had a queen size bed, an armoir, full closet, private bathroom, small end tables (where I used one for my laptop and papers) and all the upscale toiletries one could imagine. Wireless internet access, free of course, made the Goodman House a very enjoyable experience. The morning breakfasts, to say the least, were equal to those I've had at 4 and 5 star hotels: 4 or 5 juices, teas, coffee, milk, pastries, fruit and the main courses. Each day was a different menu. I am pleased to say that I overate each morning...and I will gladly do so again upon my return visits...as I will now be staying only at the Goodman House during my subsequent business trips to Chico. Located in the central part of town, everything within a few miles, restaurants located within a few blocks...the Goodman House and the hosts/owners Tom and Margo made my first experience to Chico one of the most enjoyable and memorable business trips in recent memory. One thing that can not be stressed enough, when staying at a hotel, one tends to be singular and private...at the Goodman House the breakfast conversations with the other guests were two mornings of great, great joy! Those two mornings at breakfast rekindled my thoughts as to why I love my state of California. Having great breakfast conversations would not have been possible at a local hotel...however, Tom and Margo have made the Goodman House so inviting that one tends to stay as long as possible around the House until you must leave to attend to your days functions. I will make the Goodman House my central spot during what is now going to be a twice a year visits to Chico on business. I suggest you do the same...you will not be disappointed. read more
