The gallery is still operated by the non-profit Birdseed Collective and dates back to 2016 with a modest space in the Berkeley neighborhood. It moved to the Art Park in 2021 and relocated here in July 2026. The gallery shows emerging and established contemporary artists with a strong focus on local talent, BILPOC, and diverse individuals. A variety of community programming includes workshops, demonstrations, performances, and artist talks, in addition to receptions for continuing monthly exhibitions. The new location provides much more high-quality exhibition space plus a large studio/workshop area. The only downside is that parking is a little tricky in this area with many busy streets intersecting and a lot of continuing construction underway. The art shown here varies widely in quality, given the nature of the gallery's mission, but shows are often interesting and thought-provoking. It is certainly worth fighting the traffic to check things out. An early weekend afternoon might be a good time to find a more peaceful atmosphere in this area.

The NoBo (North Broadway) Art District is Boulder's only official arts district. It dates back to a…read more2009 revival of the First Fridays arts open house tradition and now encompasses more than 350 professional artists and creative businesses--mostly in the North Broadway and Lee Hill corridors. Administrative offices are at the NoBo on the Corner location which also includes work, meeting, and exhibition space. The Bus Stop gallery is a formal exhibition location while the NoBo Art Center is a more casual work, meeting, and exhibition spot. A group of 20 to 30 studios, galleries, and related businesses is open from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the first Friday of every month. There are regular exhibits at the three NoBo gallery spaces (Art Center, Bus Stop, and On the Corner) plus the independent East Window gallery. The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art is planning to construct a large new building plus related facilities at Broadway and Violet Avenue which will be the North Boulder Creative Campus. Construction is estimated to start in late 2027 with completion by late 2029. The Art District is actively working on the streetscape with sculptures, murals, lighting, and other installations in progress. NoBo also curates members' art in local businesses. There's a monthly podcast, a newsletter, a book with member profiles and NoBo information, a calendar of events, and a comprehensive Web site. North Broadway was an underutilized part of town only a few years ago, but is becoming a vibrant area filled with modern housing, new businesses, and a rising arts scene. It should really be impressive over the next few years.

She has maintained a studio in the 910 Arts complex for many years, but has now converted the space to a gallery with a grand opening on May 15, 2026. Go through the south door of the 910 Arts building and up the south staircase by the coffee shop. You will find the gallery in Unit 10 at the top of the stairs. Alternatively, you can use the north door and/or north staircase to get upstairs, then take the walkway to the south side of the building. The gallery is small, but bright, with two windows facing west and a large entrance with light from a huge skylight over the stairwell. The inaugural show, "Points of View: Ideas in Conversation," presents complimentary, abstract work from 15 established artists, including Kelly. The 910 Arts building is full of artists' studios, other galleries, and a very nice coffee shop. Rolo Gallery is a great addition to the complex.

This beautifully restored, landmark fire station in downtown Longmont has been run by the…read morenonprofit, The Arts Studio, since 1987 with a major renovation to the building in 1999. Programs include twelve art exhibits annually plus two resident artist studios, a ceramics studio, and a classroom. Admission to the galleries is always free and The Arts Studio provides extensive outreach to the community plus a regular program of classes for children and adults. Exhibitions mix solo and group shows including local, regional, and national artists. I've been visiting the Center for many years. I've found the exhibits to be of mixed quality, but that's inevitable given the mission of the organization. Today's visit involved some sort of used clothing sale which was a little confusing and made it difficult to see the current art exhibit. The Art Center is a great community resource and a terrific asset to Longmont.

Alas, I'd rather spend a day at the dog park, or the Farmer's market, or sitting at home and staring at the ceiling....seriously.

This is a nice addition to the shops on Main Street. Ivan is interesting and knowledgeable. The gallery is certainly worth a visit and a chat with Ivan. I can't speak to the performances, but the space appears to have good acoustics and provides a good, smaller venue. The art is mostly large-scale and moderately expensive. We saw some interesting pieces.

I was so inspired by the intense energy and enthusiasm of the members. After going months without creative contact, it was refreshing to be around other artists and be able to talk about art without any shame or pretense! The facility itself is very clean and well-maintained. There is ample gallery space with plenty of opportunities for artist members and volunteers to showcase their work. The website is also very comprehensive and makes it very easy to look up upcoming opportunities, past successes, and current work and contact information of the artists it supports. Kudos to 40 West Arts for taking the plunge and creating a safe space for artists in the community!

I've been bullied for two years by another teacher/artist/dancer and when she escalated at Westfax,…read moreinstead of hearing both sides or seeing evidence, they joined in the slander/libel and banned me. I've been coming to 40 west for years and been an artist through them for 2 years, I had also talked to them previously about the bully and my fear and thought they would stand with me. They took a little while to respond and said they would look into it. When I filed the lawsuit against the bully, I sent on the cover sheet and said I would be happy to provide any evidence or answer any questions. I had been clear about needing a deadline of 9/30, I though a month and half to hear anything was more than reasonable, but they just ghosted me. So now I had to file a lawsuit against them to try and be treated equitably and so I can feel safe moving forward. having to do that, when I'm already dealing with someone who is unhinged is crap.
