Liam Harrison and Andy Howson seminar @ Bushido Muay Thai, 2021

I've spent the last year here at Bushido but was addicted from day 1 Coach Manny truly cares about his students -- he walks around the class analyzing everyone's technique to ensure everyone is learning while staying safe and not injuring themselves and others. Everyone is extremely helpful and humble -- the saying "leave your ego at the door" is practiced to the fullest here. Manny also does his best to get the world's top Muay Thai fighters to visit the gym and give seminars. I was able to attend a seminar with Liam Harrison and Andy Howson which is actually just absurd (picture provided). Coach Jake (strength and conditioning and clinching coach) is extremely friendly, cares about his students, and is very knowledgable on functionality training as he has a degree in the sports medicine field -- his strength and conditioning classes lessen the likelihood of you sustaining injuries while also kicking your ass cardio-wise. I haven't attended the kids classes as I am a 26 year old man, but I can say with confidence that not only is Coach Alexa an absolute badass, but I'm pretty sure half of the Bushido kids could kick my ass too. Also, all coaches have trained in Thailand which is very important if you're looking into training Muay Thai......and they have an arcade.....C'mon now. Would HIGHLY recommend Bushido to anyone who wants to learn solid Muay Thai technique and join a community of super friendly badasses

Been going here since 2024 Q4…read more This is a muay thai/boxing gym that caters from beginners looking to get in shape to those who actually get into the ring/octagon. I'm the former and take the Pads and Bags classes and the Boxing classes they offer in the mornings. It's hard work but is super rewarding and a fun way to get in shape. Don't think this is something you need to already be in shape for. They also have more advanced classes as well as classes that are for everyone but more physical. Aside from that they have a kids class that happens on Saturdays and a crew of fighters who sometimes will be taking the classes you're in. Everyone is super nice regardless of their skill level and those with more skill are very helpful either way. Both coaches that run the classes I've been in (Guerby and Ryan) are super patient and amazing at what they do. If you have an injury or limitation of some kind, they'll give you alternatives. But don't think they'll make it easy! This is a workout either way. Place is cleaned after every class top/down and parking there is super convenient. First class is free so trying out is risk free. After that you can sign up to any of their membership offerings or one off classes. (Some of their classes are available via class pass too!)

Off and on for eighteen years, I've been walking through the doors of South Miami Martial Arts…read more Work, life, and even injuries have pulled me away at times--knee surgery in 2015, an ankle break in 2024--but I always find my way back. That alone should tell you something: when a place keeps pulling you in after nearly two decades, it's more than just a martial arts school. At the heart of it all is Master Jeff Wade. A gifted instructor, yes--but more importantly, someone who loves Tae Kwon Do with every fiber of his being, and somehow loves his students even more. He has a way of seeing where you're at--whether you're a kid just starting out, a parent training alongside your child, or someone like me still clawing toward that black belt--and meeting you there with patience, encouragement, and discipline. The facilities? Excellent. The instruction? World-class. But it's the atmosphere that makes it life-changing. Families bond here, kids grow into themselves, and adults discover a kind of strength that sticks with you long after class. My long-term goal is still that black belt. I may be moving slower these days, but my spirit is unshaken--and this place keeps me moving forward. Five stars, no hesitation. If you're looking for a school that will challenge you, support you, and maybe even change your life, South Miami Martial Arts is it.
