Positives...good and convenient location, quiet street but an easy walk to to the park and to several amenities. The rooms I was in were also relatively quiet (from street noise, but not other guest noise) and clean. The lobby is beautiful, a good place to rest or wait for others. They have coffee and tea with shortbread cookies in the room, an iron with board, safe, down comforter, fans (necessary to keep rooms cool), and filtered water. One of our two rooms were ready early and they had no problem getting me in, which was appreciated. I saw a hard-working blonde-haired lady who may have been a manager or head of housekeeping. She seemed to have her finger on the pulse of several issues and I often saw her walking through the lobby and talking to staff.
Negatives...carpet, furniture, curtains are dated colors and styles, even if they (may) have been updated recently?; front desk staff and restaurant wait staff for breakfast were not friendly (they acted as if they were doing you a favor when waiting on you); rooms are not huge; expensive! ($264/night for a double room w/ breakfast...at that rate, I would not stay here again, it just isn't worth it). The pillows or sheets smelled slightly musty, I couldn't tell which. Bath products have sulfates (but no parabens). Tubs didn't drain well at all. Toilet in my second room did not flush well. Windows only open so much (I think they have them rigged so no one can climb in from the outside). You can hear some bumping around in the halls and definitely above you. They have porters but after sitting in the lobby a bit, they are often missing (one socialized a lot) and they really only bring the bags to the room, they don't show you anything special, turn on the lights, really do anything above and beyond, such as actually putting suitcases on the racks. read more
