In this case, Daniel Mejia, DMD from Coastal Dental referred me. I knew it would be a great decision because Coastal Dental truly cares about their patients. I decided to check out the reviews from Southcoast Endodontics. The doctors rated very well, but I chose Quan Nghiem, DMD. Sometimes you just get a feeling and go with it, which is what I did. At the end of March I went for my consultation. As soon as I walked in, I had already felt relaxed. The building was very well kept and immaculate. Karen Nunes, the receptionist was a pleasure to deal with. There are times I find that receptionists are not very friendly or accommodating. I have seen them be rude to other patients and even their own co-workers. That is definitely not a good reflection on the people who employ them. After filling out my forms, I was seen by one of the assistants, Karen Casado, who took x-rays. We started talking about different things. I felt like I had been going there for a long time. She was so easy to get along with. Dr. Quan Nghiem then walked in and explained to me what was going to be done. He was very friendly. They scheduled my appointment the following week. When I left, I was 100% confident I was going to be in good hands. I had my root canal done April 3rd. I was fully relaxed. Dr. Nghiem and his assistant Karen Casado did an amazing job. Although I was not nervous, I love how they distract the patient so that they don't think about what is being done. They were AMAZING!! I felt no pain or discomfort during or after the procedure. What an outstanding team the two of them were!! Needless to say, I was very impressed and extremely happy with SouthCoast Endodontics! Showed up for the fill and the dentist had gone home sick. During the extraction the dental assistant grabbed the wrong tools and spent a majority or the time flirting with the dentist. The dentist went to numb my tooth and put the needle into the side of my tongue. On the second attempt he shot the novocaine into my eye. When I returned for my deep cleaning I waited a half hour before even being checked in and another half an hour out back without even being seen or checked on. I enjoyed my experience and recommended that dentistry for years. My son had a recent appointment where he was supposed to get sedated with gas or something so he would lower his nerves. But the owner who made the appointment had an emergency case. Now they treat money over patients welfare. So be prepared to payout to get good care. Also everything is now run by the owners brother who just goes by Sam at the reception area. Of course not his real name but he is not listed under the employee registry so I dont know why he is always walking around in and out of patient rooms in scrubs and ready to help anyway he can. He said he could not reschedule my sons appointment until his brother looked it over. But I felt disrespected after all these years with them and they couldn't even call to cancel the appointment before I got there. I am so upset and disappointed that the owner and Dentist let his brother come into the practice and ruin relationships built over years when he was not here. Its sad and disgraceful that now I have to move my whole family of 5 to new dentists that we can rely on and maybe we will just switch every couple years so we dont develop bonds like this in our community very sad.
