Buzz Nabers and his staff are the best! I have gone to both locations numerous times over the years. Everything from the farmhouse decor, to the friendly staff, to the modern equipment is a welcoming reassurance. When I have just a checkup / cleaning, they treat me with a warm neck wrap, warm wax hand treatment, and massaging chair. It's like a dental spa to ease the anxiety of simply going to the dentist. And when I have had a dental emergency, they squeezed me in. I have yet to find another dentist in Knoxville who has done a better job than the Nabers team. I'm so glad I was referred to them many years ago by a friend after I was having trouble finding a good dentist in town. Seriously, give them a try and see for yourself! I don't know what is happening with Buzz's office. Use to love this place. Everyone was so nice. Now every time I go in, the front office staff is new,. I have a new hygienist every trip for the last year and half. I have been having billing problems too. There is an issue with my insurance covering their part of the bill. I have called Buzz's office 4 times and they keep saying they are aware of it and will take care of it. Just got another bill after not hearing from them for 6 mths with finance charges. I go to call them, get a recording saying they are busy and hit zero to leave a message. Well, that voice mail box is full!! What gives? As anyone else having problems? read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Nabers and his staff. Seriously the most FABULOUS dental practice I have ever been to and well worth the hour + drive for my husband and I to get our care here. We have been to both locations and Gay St. is closer to us, but parking is free and plentiful at the other location, so consider that when making an appointment. Exceptional dentistry and an almost 'medi-spa' environment that is so relaxing and makes me look forward to going three times a year to get my teeth cleaned. We found Dr. Nabers by pure kismet. My husband broke an old crown and was in desperate need. The marginally adequate dentist we first started using when we moved to TN was away for a week and so I searched through our insurance provider for another that was taking new patients and was available. When I called the office and explained the situation they offered to meet us at 7a the following morning, it was already quite late in the afternoon and I was so impressed they realized the pain my husband was in and that they fit him in so early and so quickly! The temporary was seated, appropriate antibiotics given due to my husband's health history, and phenomenal care not only during the visit but a follow up call and scheduled him for the permanent quickly as well. We've been back for cleanings since then and warm neck wraps and a paraffin dip during the cleaning? Talk about three birds with one stone! I feel leaving so relaxed and pampered from a cleaning that I can't help but tell everyone I pass about the amazing team Dr. Nabers has assembled! Plus, he's a huge Vols fan and the offices are a sea of orange on any given Friday so that is a huge plus, too! In 2004, I had a terrible toothache. Growing up, I didn't go to the dentist much and lived off of a steady diet of Mountain Dew and Skittles. This terrible diet combined with no precedent of going to a dentist created a terrible situation inside my mouth. We're talking lots of cavities, missing molars and a chipped tooth. One day, I was bartending a lunch shift at Kingston Alley and I asked a customer if they could recommend a good dentist. This was the first time I had heard of Buzz Nabers. His office was on Northshore Drive next to the Weigels. It was the same drive I used to make during high school to visit my girlfriend who lived off a side street that same direction. Perhaps that memory trigger was serendipitous because it was during high school that I became uncomfortable showing my teeth when I smiled. Every now and then I'd get a good photo with my teeth and that always made me feel better about myself. That was the exception to the rule. Most of the time, I hated pictures that showed my chipped and discolored tooth. When I visited Buzz's office for the first time, I was nervous about how the techs and dentist would feel about my teeth. In my mind, I had the worst teeth they would ever see. I didn't know what to expect because I had no memory of going to the dentist as a child. We always just put on numbing cream and pulled the tooth when it was time. Bring on the tooth fairy! I still vividly remember that first visit. Dr. Nabers, who went by Buzz, was soft-spoken and gentle. He wore a big smile and had kind eyes. The technicians, Stephanie and Tammy, treated me like old friends and asked me about my life. After going through what was bothering me (the toothache), we started making a plan to repair the problems. They told me they thought I had a lucky mouth with lots of areas that look great. I remember leaving the office feeling so much better about myself and proud that I took action to take care of something that had always bothered me. We started by pulling the tooth that hurt and getting a root canal. Next, we took steps to fix my smile. We started by covering up the discoloration and fixing the chipped tooth. I could finally smile with my teeth! Tackling missing molars was much more complicated because when you have big gaps in your gums for years the other teeth naturally move towards that gap, which causes misalignment in your bite. Buzz helped me find the answer and we put permanent implants in. By 2013, for the first time since childhood, I finally had ALL my teeth. Simply put, the care I received from Buzz Nabers gave me the confidence to take care of my health across the board. Wishing others harm or failure is classless and ugly. As a fellow business owner, I can say that it hurts when those who claim to support you remain silent or are no where to be found when you need them the most. Awesome dental experience. One I can't wait to try again. Which means a whole lot since I was literally tortured by dentists as a child and wanted nothing to do with them for a very long time. It is actually a bit ironic cause my initial interaction with this dental group was anything but pleasant. Thanks to a very awkward and mostly inappropriate receptionist when I tried to make my appointment. But it all got better from there. Way better I was seen shortly after my appointment time. My hygienist (Alison) was exceptional. She did a fantastic job and kept the conversation going the whole time. She told me everything she was doing and made recommendations based on what she found. Dr. Nabers showed up pretty much as soon as she was done. He had reviewed my radiographs, took a quick look at my arcade and gave me a summary of their proposed plan. The whole experience was very professional and super friendly. The office set up was very modern and intriguing. Loved the exposed brick walls and the modules that separate each dental suite. The lobby was a little small but I didn't spend very much time waiting in it. I was seated in a chair that gave me a massage the whole time, got a paraffin wax treatment on my hands and had a warm comfy neck pillow. Definitely a first class spa experience. I actually felt guilty taking time away from work to see the dentist. They accept a wide range of insurance and are super convenient. You can park across the street in the Visit Knoxville parking lot. Just be sure to go inside and get a 2 hour parking permit which needs to be displayed on your window. Pretty sure the doctor doesn't work at the downtown location every day but they have a fairly flexible appointment and can generally work something out. My husband and I went to Dr Nabers prior to 2016. Everytime we went there, my husband "needed" a new crown. Finally, Dr Nabers said that he just wasn't getting anywhere with my husband and said he needed to have all his teeth pulled and get dental implants for more than $10,000. He even made an appointment with a dental surgeon. I made an appointment with another dentist to get a second opinion. What my husband was told was that he did need work on several teeth. These were not even the teeth that Dr Nabers said he could fix. It cost us $2600 to get my husband's teeth fixed. Today, 2023, my husband still has all his teeth. Dr Nabers did a crown on one of my teeth. It was fitted on the tooth by one of the staff. Later, after we left Dr Nabers, I needed to have a root canal on the tooth with the crown. My new dentist went to drill off the crown to do the root canal. As he started to drill, the crown fell off. He was able to reuse the crown. When I started with the new dentist, he said that I needed to have a cleaning first. I had a cleaning at Dr Nabers the month before. read more

This is the best dentist I've ever been to. Their cleanings are thorough but you don't feel like you've been assaulted when they're done. When I think of a dentist, Little Shop Of Horrors is my first mental picture. It's supposed to be torture, right? If that's the case, Buzz Nabers is doing it all wrong. He's a cool guy that does a great job of making you feel comfortable, while being thorough and painless. His staff from scheduling to hygienists and assistants are all top notch with great personalities that again, make comfort and competence their goals. Having two locations is great too! Downtown, near where I live, and one not far from where I work! How great is that? Both locations are impressive on any scale, especially for a dentist office. They are decorated well with a "cool" vibe that also feels as homey and comfortable as possible in a location where they're going to be putting their fist in your mouth. Massage chairs in both locations that make it as comfortable as possible to take care of your chompers. read more

They accept many different insurances and the downtown location is amazing if you live and/or work downtown. Everyone there is very professional and courteous. I went to the office as a new patient about 2 weeks ago - I had heard all these great things about Dr. Buzz. I felt like my appointment was rushed, and then Dr. Buzz came in and told me that I needed 2 crowns because I had old fillings and also that I needed a couple other small fillings. I have never had a crown before and I thought this was a lot, so I got a 2nd opinion at another office this week. I was told at the second office that I didn't need any crowns or a filling replaced. They also told me that it looked like I needed a cleaning, which I thought was strange since I supposedly just had my teeth cleaned. Sure on the outside the office looks nice and everyone seems friendly, however his wife was there and she "runs" the office, and I found her to be very unprofessional and rude. Trusted the dental care for our young son to this office. We were never given or offered the opportunity to have his permanent teeth sealed resulting in four cavities. This then led to fillings. I have had a decent amount of dental work, but I have NEVER had a dentist omit important information. I was led to believe that the procedure I was having was to replace a compromised sealant, and it could be done entirely with nitrous oxide. I was never told that there was any decay. On the day-of, I find out that there is decay, and, when I think the doctor is about to start the procedure, I feel that I'm getting an injection. I was livid. It wouldn't have been a big deal if someone had just said the situation has gotten worse, so we're going to have to numb you after all. To be told I'd only have nitrous and then get a surprise injection was enough for me. Switching dentists ASAP. read more

I've never posted any review in the past, so this is the first review I am posting. I had a 3:50 appointment today (Thurs. 8/2) with Dr. Nabers for a routine 2x a year cleaning. Took time off my busy day to drive in the rain all the way to the Northshore office only to be told that my appt was at 3:30 which is not true bc I have the text message appt reminder sent by Dr. Nabers Office on Tuesday to prove it. The thing I am really mad about is that the lady at the front desk said that I had to reschedule and that there might be a problem with the messaging system due to time zones. I told her that if it had been a time zone issue the time discrepancy would be a whole hour and not 20 minutes! Another excuse she gave me was that they had recent staff turnover. Nobody is perfect, people make mistakes but it is what you do when a mistake is made that matters. I don't care about the cause of the mistake... it is in the past. It is what you do to fix it that is important and asking me to reschedule on another one of my busy days is not good customer service. Good customer service would have been to check with the all the hygienists to see if anyone can accommodate me, and ask if I would be willing to wait about 10 minutes instead of asking me to come back on another day. read more

I have been a customer of Dr. Nabers for years and had nothing but great things to say for them. I've even referred multiple friends and coworkers to his office. But this last year their insurance/billing department has fallen apart. I was quoted $11 for a cleaning procedure and then was sent an invoice for $332. I told them I would not pay that without an explanation for how they could be so off. I've subsequently received two invoices for $126 with literally no line items on the invoice but at least it's not the original $332. I've called twice for an explanation for what I owe and have been told they need to investigate and have not received a call back to explain. My fiance went in for fillings that were originally quoted at $2,000. She said she couldn't afford that so they came back with a price of $1,000 which she paid at the time. She's now received multiple invoices saying she owes an additional $800. We're on separate insurance providers so you can't even claim it's a problem with their communication with a certain insurance company. I've been a happy customer of Dr. Nabers for years but it's hard not to feel that they're intentionally misquoting people to get them to agree to a procedure and then recouping it on the back end. read more
